More likely the "we need to find out where we need to strengthen first" is key. No point in signing a CM, for example, if Quinny, Monty, Willo, etc aren`t moving.

Bang on there my friend.

Has he actually said that there's no money available until we raise some via sales? It's a genuine question, I've not read the article. If not, then the 'incomings centre around departures' bit may mean that with the obvious limited funds available, he'll wait to see who's going before getting a replacement in. It's not ideal I know but we are where we are.

Agree with that we have to find out who is moving on before we recruit players into the squad, but we are short at the back and I think another experienced CB is needed as Morgan will not be back before the end of October

First of all welcome my friend always good to get new members, Agree with what you have to say however unfortunately there isn't much happening i fully expected Hendo, evans and monty to be gone by now but only 1 of the 3 has gone which means our wage bill is still sky high and we have no room to bring anyone in.

When he took over

'We don't have to sell to buy'

Today....

'I have to sell to buy'

He has learnt Blades-speak already :)

If you actually see his quote he doesn't say he has to sell to buy thats just the headline.

Before we can start bringing players into the football club, we have to balance that up with who is leaving.

“We are not in the position that other clubs are in who are settled in terms of the squad.

“We are not too sure on who will be here but we have to assess things as quick as we can

So he is saying the wage bill has to be balanced and we need to know who is leaving before we know where to buy. Nothing to do with having to sell to buy, just that we need to know who is staying and who isn't.

Surely therefore his comments are perfectly logical and aren't at odds with his previous statement.

Once insinuates we need to generate funds, the other (his recent comments) relate to where we need to strengthen.

Exactly. What is wrong IMO is certain people using this for their anti-Wilson agenda.

Its quite amusing really, He came in with his lovely pretty talk and now he's back tracking.

We can accept this though as he's doing a cracking job in moving players on to get the new ones in...

Pre Season Preparation going well is it Jim?

Who's back tracking Swiss?

DW:- "I like wingers, quick pacy wingers who can beat a man to the byline and send decent crosses into the box.
The width of the squad is what I like and if it's right we can't go far wrong.
Of course, with everything in football good players cost money, so we'll see where we are when the players return."

The players have returned. He must know by now that he doesn't have any "quick, pacy wingers" in the squad.
So why hasn't he signed one? Because "we are still in limbo in many respects because we don't know about the outgoings".
That implies the impasse is due to a lack of funds rather than him not knowing which areas he wants to strengthen.

Don't agree, until we know what is happening with Quinny/Ertl/Evans/Cresswell i.e. firm bids in, how is he supposed to shape his replacement sides.
I'm reasonably confident that free transfers will still be happening but we aren't going to bring in a player for a fee if we still have these around.
Again that's logical, if Evans, Cresswell and Slew are leaving we will need to buy forwards if none of them are moved on, I would guess that we will go with them and spend the budget elsewhere.
