Agreed. It was sh.t yesterday, no passion, skill or effort against a pub team.

Brilliant post that mate - did your mother help you type it? I can only assume you are talking about the performance of your lot at the Sty against Aldershot.

Foxy - I think there's a few Wendies on here that need showing the door and pointing in the direction of Pork talk.

It seems the events of last week have made us all forgot about the main problem at United - that Wilson should go. It is clear Wilson is not the guy for us and he should be sacked now, giving a new manager 4 to 8 weeks to assess the squad and bring in the players needed.

IF he can't get the player to be passionate and excited about an FA cup match, the thought of drawing a PL team such as City or Utd then he should leave. We should not be losing to Torquay United.

Wilson Out

That's embarrassing - even for a Pig.

UTB FTO

we had 57% possession and 16 shots overall, hardly that shit
Ched scored another blinder
we werent matched shot for shot like the pigs managed

Wilson Out

Is this a serious post ?

Total joke pal.

Leave the Out campaigns to the pros please.

Wilson is doing just fine.

If Micalijo says that the manager is fine then he must be doing fine and dandy as Mic is definately a "knocker"

I do believe though wilson needs to add a bit more passion into united's game. Anybody agree with me?

IMO -

If we had a keeper that commanded the area that the defence felt safe with in the knowledge that he was behind them we would be top two.

If we had competition for places for Maguire & Quinn, we would be hot on the heels of Charlton. I mean goal difference could be a factor. (By this i mean i've noticed Quinn & Maguire become complacent in recent weeks but they know their place is safe so they're not fussed.)

If we can find a striker to partner Evans that also helps out with goals we would be 1st.

The manager isn't the issue here. It's all down to the cash unfortunately.

I also think Lecs is better than Williams

>No, the square root of 0 is 0. You're thinking of the square root of -1 which is an imaginary number.... You're welcome!
heh.. good lad.. my degree was a couple of years ago :)

edit: in my defence i think i subconciously picked a negative value because we are so much in debt.. or something.. frankly i'm embarassed.. (getting old!)

Regarding Maguire , I think its the fans who are becoming complacent. Just remember some of the shite who played centre back in the last 12 months .The lad is in his first season ,never missed a minute against some decent players ,I think he is doing great. As for this shit about him being big time and a drinker , do you not think the coaches and other players would pick up on this. We all need to give the lad a break and let him develop because believe me we would have been in deep shit without him.

Maguire's lack of pace leaves him exposed at times, but I agree that he's doing fine overall and I'm not sure being dropped is better for him than continue playing. We have Ertl back now, so if Harry is feeling tired we do have an option, but I'm sure the management can assess that.

I can't think of one goal conceeded due his lack of perceived pace ,the best centre halves read the game and this makes up for pace ,Morgan ,Stan ,Colquhoun, Kenworthy ..Captain Blade would have given them all a good race.

The game has moved on and the attributes of a modern day Prem centre half often include pace and athelticism as well as being half decent on the ball.

That's not to say you can't still get away with it but it's much harder these days. Morgan did show it is just about possible.

I remember watching Stan away at Palace in one of our early games back in the top flight and he was asked to adapt to a kind of sweeper role. It was a sad sight for one of my heroes. If memory serves he didn't play again for us?

As for Maguire his lack of pace could be a blessing for us as it could mean he stays at the Lane a while.

If only we could just return to the defensive 'speedsters' of 2005-06, we'd be flying! Didn't Unsworth, Morgan and Short make up 3/4 of the defence that season?

Short was excellent that year. He organised the defence so well. What impressed me was that we consistently held a high defensive line which does not allow the opposition to camp out in your own half.

Probably the main reason we didn't stay in the Premier was a lack of a decent replacement for him.

I guess the Pigs are concerned that DW is doing a good job, otherwise they wouldn't be coming here spouting bollocks like this here thread.

Oi truffle snorter - be off with ya.

That's right. I think Stancliffe and Bassett fell out during/after the game over Stan's performance and Bassett's tactics and that was that. I think he went out on loan to Wolves for a while after that but never played for us again.

He went to York and became a hero there as well

Torquay ran in behind us three times on Saturday, including when they scored their second. Common for all three situations was that our centre halves were unsure of when to close down and when to drop deep. When we get those things wrong, Maguire doesn't have the pace to recover. However, given time and the right guidance, hopefully he should learn to avoid being caught out too high up the pitch so often.

Here's lesson one:
