i suspect the board are responsible for all the player transfers. they certainly sell all our players and seem to have brought in kitson if not everybody else. if they are, its not dannys fault we have such a shit squad. manager, but what does he actually do? he's a glorified coach, but takes all the flack. not many out there would be interested in taking that role. i think he should go, but only if we bring in a proper manager. if its just some clone stooge then why even bother?
 
Too true, Ken. Although I wouldn't say the board are entirely to blame for us having such as shit squad. Most of this team are DW buys. People such as Porter, Westlake, McMahon etc.

After that, the board are to blame for everything. If we join the likes of Notts County in having a merry-go-round of managers, sure it's a bit embarrasing. But it's not our fault. Whoever sets these people on, given their 'record of achievements' don't live in the real world. These 'managers' would be unemployable outside of the football 'bubble'.

And they compound their errors by giving 2/3 year contracts to these muppets. When you fish in a pond so small it contains the likes of Wilson and Adams, it should be a monthly rolling contract with payment on results. After all, there's nowhere else for them to go, is there?

So there's the likes of Curle, Dichov and Megson out there. Someone will employ them and keep the whole carousel turning. If it's us, then that's me off. There's also Adkins. He'll be snapped up, and I believe he would consider United a fantastic opportunity to relaunch his career (as long as nobody tells him about our board, but then boards all over are clueless). There's also the 'cheap' option. Morgan. Surely that's a non-starter has he hasn't (I don't think) go his sainted 'badges' (about as valueless today as your average degree...)

I also wouldn't agree with Ken's 'why bother with some clone stooge...' Personally, I think the longer DW is around, the harder it will be to dig ourselves out of this shit. Forget the rose-tinted 'He got us 90 points last year/but for bad luck he'd have got us promoted.' He was fantastically lucky to have Ched (and Lowton asnd Quinn) last year. Ched especially delivered one of those once-in-a-generation seasons which masked Wilson's obvious limitations.

So who to have as a stand in while we consider the future? Well I'm off to the Lane now to sort that. A fucking snowman would show more passion and tactical nous than DW...

The facts are that we have been shit all season.

I can't really remember one single outstanding performance. Yes there have been "flashes" but even when we were on the long unbeaten run we were registering scrappy 1-0 results in the main. The result certainly masked the odour of the performances and we were all making comments such as, "give me scrappy 1-0's and average performances all season if it means we go up"...remember?

The difference now is that we no longer grind out those "lucky" wins, the reason for this I'm not sure, maybe it coincided with losing Collins, maybe Miller, maybe just a general loss of form or maybe we have been "found-out".

Whatever the reason this is the time when a manager really earns his corn and I'm afraid Wilson is falling woefully short, in fact he almost seems clueless, like a Rabbit in the headlights. His plan A hasn't worked and he has no plan B. He cuts a very forlorn figure on the touchline and doesn't appear to be getting any support from his staff, (Barker and Morgan seem to be shrinking further and further back into the dugout and almost seem prepared to let him take the fall).

We can blame McCabe of course, ultimately it was his decision to sell Blackman and his decision to put in a shite offer for the lad from Dundee United. But McCabe has been here for a long time we know what we get from him and unless he decides to step down/sell the club that aint ever going to change.

For me, I'm afraid the time is more or less up for Danny. No, I don't know who would do a better job but I do know we are as stale as last weeks loaf and an urgent injection of positivity is required if we are going to stand the remotest chance of turning our season around.

Now, onto more serious matters, who wants Boobs back in my avatar.....?

I don't care what position you are in the world, in what sector, in what country; the longer you have and the more stable environment you have, the more chance of success you will have. Alex Ferguson was nearly sacked by Man Utd because of bad form, look at Man Utd and him now. At Wednesday, Jones should have gone a few weeks back if fans had their wish; they're now on a run. Keep calm, give the man time and let him get on with his job and get the success that he's aiming and working for.

TBH he has had plenty of time in comparison to Howe and Robbins, lets face it he is a poor manager as he was at Bristol C, Swindon, MK Dons and at S6

Not true..I've got a bloke working for me and he's a shit now as the day he started. He's been given every chance and all the support and encouragement you could ask for. He tries hard but he's basically not very good at his job!
 



Who do we get in if he's sacked?? People are fooling themselves if they think we can afford Adkins.
We'll end up with Dickov. And i for one don't want that.

Totally disagree.

Pigs have a good manager with a track record and we'd be patient as well if we’d had the perceived right man for the job in.

We’ve got ?

Someone like SOD would have been given time; look at the fans now, how many shouts of ‘Wilson out’ or ‘Sack the board’ were heard against Coventry.

Grayson/Atkins would have no one on their backs because we'd all think we've got the right man for the job at last.

The tide may be turning but overall we’ve been a patient mob.

Sacking Megson got Wendy into the position they are in now - short termism? (I think football is generally too short term mind :))

If sacking Wilson is short term - make the case for being long term - what is it that Wilson is doing that you want to see more of?

I believe we'd end up with Morgan, and a bit of short term lift - followed by a chorus of "we've done it on the cheap again".

But there's the dilemma, who is going to put up the "risk" money to fund that and what happens if we don't achieve it?
 
The problem is there are very few managers you can be sure who are actually good at it - ones who'e done it on enough occasions for luck not to be a huge factor.

Ferguson, Wender and a few other greats.

Warnock, Bassett (of old), Adkins, SOD - perhaps even Ronnie Moore at a lower level.

I'm struggling to create a list. Adkins will get a much better job than ours. If there was any chance we should sack Wilson immediately. For Morgan / latest flavour of the month - forget it.

Where do these people like Atkins/Grayson come from?
Someone takes a punt on them at some point.

There are 12 young coaches fron England who have been chosen by EUFA to take a new course above [think top is A+ currently but I stand to be corrected], anyhow its a new level for the brightest coaches around.


Why not get one of these in?

Print it out and put it on your wall. If it goes tits up, remind yourself of it.

Don't get me wrong - we can't keep Wilson for the sake of it - I'm just making the point that there are very few good managers - most have periods of luck with teams they inherit, or more resources than their competitors.

It took hundreds of failed punts to prove that Adkins and a few others were good. Hindsight is free. The cost of not having it is enormous.

I agree.

The most difficult decision a chairman makes is his manager.

Unfortunately our leader is not very good at it.
