Given the ridiculous amount of stick this lad gets, it’s worth reviewing his season so far.

A goal every 143 minutes ranks him as high as 3rd in the division, behind only Grabban and Vydra.

And with a 71% shots on target ratio, this has him comfortably in top spot.

12 goals and counting.

Well done William.

Sharp put more effort in today than his last 5 games combined. The first half he was like a rat up a drainpipe at their defence.

Well played Sir.

Nope, 12. Four braces so far, including tonight.
Watching that dirge on telly tonight, to think the pigs could have spent a tenth of what they wasted on Rhodes and got a proper goalscorer. But fuck are Wednesday poor.

He's on 13

Twelve in the league, one in the FA Cup.

Not bad for a striker who can’t cut the mustard at Championship level & who some said thanks but time to fuck off to the MLS .
Keep putting the ball in the onion bag Billy & a smile at those who keep writing your Blades obituary

Just put on another thread that Billy is keeping it ticking over up front. Clarke ,Donaldson, seem to have dried up. Way to go Billy , Not bad for a fat lad.

Billy is just a class player and we are lucky to have him.

The good thing is that be has never relied on out and out pace. No reason why be cant still be scoring for us for the next 2 seasons.

I bet CWs stinging rebuke to the team also resonated with him and he played tonight like he had listened and taken note of the gaffers words.

We should cherish him (and to be fair...most of us do).

The stick Sharp has got has all been deserved. He’s been poor in some games
But as said he’s a special type (like Edwards) that doesn’t often contribute much, but is a goal poacher and comes up with goals.

The objective is for the team to win, so if we lose and Sharp doesn’t score, then Sharp logically becomes a target because he’s done almost nothing all match. Whereas someone like Leon holds the ball much better and gives us physicality and a target to aim for,

Credit to him though for showing character managing to produce the goods after being dropped and proving he’s a team player.

You do know it is possible to be critical of a player (and yes Sharp has been poor at times this season) without it being termed ridiculous amounts of stick. I'd say getting dropped from the team (as many suggested) has done Sharpy the world of good, given his form since his return. Just like the right royal bollocking the whole team has had for Friday night has given them the desired kick up the backside given tonight's result and performance.

Have to say, I've been critical of Billy but his second tonight was absolute quality and he may be the only player at the club who would have put that away.

Not sure why Billy and Leon take alternate months in scoring. They do know they're allowed to score in the same game don't they?

This is interesting.

Off the top of my head the only match this season I can remember them both scoring in was the win at Burton.

27 goals from them according to the BBC, great to see, but like you say, its unusual that they rarely score in the same game

Suffice to say, I could not disagree more.

You demonstrate that typically S2 trait that if a player scores that automatically makes him MOM material. And if he doesn’t, well then he has done nowt and should be dropped !

And Clarke is, categorically, woeful as a target man.
