All things considered I think if there’s a next time we should struggle to take 15000. Any other similar sized club with our history and that’s what you’d be looking at.

We get there again next season and how I feel at the moment wild horses couldn’t drag me there.

Whatever we do we just seem to find a way to lose big games. Some of it by our own doing, others by the cruelest of luck.

VAR shouldn't have ruled that goal out yesterday. We know this because it wasn’t a clear and obvious error which was the original intention of bringing in VAR.

If it was clear and obvious the referee wouldn’t have been asked to take a look at the screen.

It could have gone either way but we should have been given the benefit of the doubt. IMO when the ball was struck the keeper had a clear view.

VAR hasn’t been used throughout the campaign, it shouldn’t have been used yesterday.

It’s ended up with a very poor team in Sunderland being promoted. Surely that isn’t good for the Premier League. I know they’ll strengthen but it’ll have to be an incredible rebuild throughout the team. We have the stronger squad and better players.

We all allowed ourselves to think that maybe this time things would be different. More fool us.

Still say though that despite all the kicks in the teeth our fanbase has suffered, to get the gates we do is incredible. Taking 30 odd thousand down there was unbelievable after what we’ve been through.

You can’t on the one hand laugh at our appalling record in play-off games and semi-finals then on the other hand have a go at how many we take to these games.

We have incredibly loyal fans who deserve better.

My thoughts exactly.

We were on level 1 bang on the halfway line with only the netted off seats below the tv cameras between us and the Sunderland fans. When we put the ball in the net for the second time, they went totally flat. Loads were off to the concourse. On our side, everyone was bouncing, noisy, giddy. When the VAR check was announced it was like a punch in the gut. When the expected decision was made, Sunderland fans made a huge roar, we were totally flat. We never recovered.

Then in the second half we had to watch the negative tactics that had failed to work against the better teams in the league, keep ball, pass back and time wasting from the off.

Was the result all Wilders fault? Obviously not, but where does the responsibility lay? Who’s going to take put their hand up for their part in it? Our managers retreat to the dressing room and the usual press interviews should be a starting point.

One thing seems certain, he won’t go of his own volition, there’s no bigger job out there for him, he’ll probably have to accept a DOF managing him. Now there’s a recipe for disaster.
Me and my Son ventured to Baker Street for pre match refreshments, 1st 4 Pubs said Sunderland only, yet there were 2 Massive Blades Flags hanging outside 2 of them?
Found the "Allsop," this was about 11:45 nobody outside.Again Bouncer said Sunderland only.Spoke to a copper, he directed us to the 3 pubs we had been refused entry?
Just by luck a local overheard us and told us about the 2 Bars at "Marylebone Station", at last we got a Drink but we dare not try to look anywhere else.
Messages told us friends were in the "Torch", after 30mins que outside we got into the Coach park, where mates had 2 more beers waiting.
What a waste of time, next ,National Stadium, left to have last drink inside.Surprisingly got straight to bar, What the Fxxk, no pumps to be seen, our choice was 1 Cider or 1 Beer (Stella). Both Cans served directly out of their cardboard cases(no fridges).Silver service tho, a lady opened the can dumped it upside down into the plastic pint container and left it their until it self poured, very hygienic.Wembley owners ought to be ashamed of themselves.
Cost of the worst pint experience in my life 8 fxxkxxg £'s per can.
Checked into our hotel £170 for 1 night, still waiting to see what £ we waisted on the Tube trailing around London, trying to get in a pub and food.
Not to mention that 2nd half!
People wonder why Blades have had enough of Wembley days.

I paid £7.50 for an ice cream from one of the vans outside the stadium. I made sure I got free raspberry sauce for my efforts, though.

I said to the owner, "It's the most expensive ice cream I've ever had, but I need it, so make it the biggest you've got. With a flake."

He replied, "It's the most expensive ice cream I've ever sold. I don't usually charge this much, but I had to change my prices, and I'm not happy about it."

I once paid £1.50 for an ice cream at Marillion's "Welcome to the Garden Party" at Milton Keynes Bowl in 1986, and I thought that was steep. Still, at least that day I got to see Jethro Tull as well, and there was no VAR.

Yesterday will have knocked off about 10,000 for the next time we get there. When we do finally win at Wembley most of our fans won't be there to see it.

You can't expect people to keep paying hundreds of pounds for something that isn't enjoyable. You can't expect the fans to be optimistic when it's the same outcome every time. People can talk about fans not being loyal or being defeatist but they don't owe the club anything and I don't think any club in the country would be any different if they constantly lost big games.

You have fans who have had season tickets for decades not bothering with the biggest game of the season. It's a crazy situation but totally understandable
saturday's cruel manner that hurt so many people has probably finished me after 59 years of support. VAR taking so long, the score announced and this ref's obvious need to boost his ego and make history with an anouncement to 85 00 fans, has made this game unrecognisable to me. I have never seen the ref decide on 'POSSIBLE' Offside. The technology at St Georges took more than 2/3 minutes to come up with 'POSSIBLE', took the narcisist ref 15 - 20 seconds on a small pitch side monitor to clarify. How the fook is that ok? I can't remember VAR saying Jon Lundtram's big toe could possibly be offside & passing over to the ref. Devastated!!!

the disgusting way the goal was dissallowed was the main factor. It went on so long & scoreboard changed (i had time to celebrate with my daughters and mate's son who was crying with joy + a man in front was on his knees thanking God). Shattered everyone, bars at half time were subdued & first time ever 'Greasy chip butty song' wasn't sung for 2nd half kick off.

it should have gone our way BUT the ref wouldn't have had his historical announcement moment. You don't think that played a factor???

We got to the Allsop as it opened at 10am. A big mob of Mackems were outside and entered first. The manager seemed a bit taken aback and shouted ' Sunderland only' as we walked to the bar. He advised us to go to the Marylebone Sports Bar at the station which we did.
We got one pint, kept our placcy 'glass' and topped up thereafter with chilled cans from M&S at the station.
Bit of improvisation, but worked a treat.

Think the empty seats were club wembley which are corporate tickets and not part of our allocation... The areas we were allocated were packed
No, where we were sat there were loads of rows of seats empty, even my dad moved to come sit with us at HT, so if you need someone to blame…
Very little atmosphere. All the free scarves had been nicked though.

was shit to see so many empty seats in comparison to the full, more colourful and organised Sunderland end. as was being so outnumbered in central London from Friday onwards, which felt like another defeat off the pitch.

if we ever do win at Wembley it will probably end up being in the EFL trophy in front of a half empty stadium.

Wonder if Sunderland fans pre booked staying over in London ages ago, knowing they were in the play off''s...yes,it was disappointing more couldn't make it,but understand some people can't afford it or health reasons.
I'll keep making the trip,it's got to happen for us eventually...VAR ruined it,and queing for an hour uo get in the Crock of Gold was a crock of shite, the Torch looked even worse.
Definitly stopping over next time.

We left our (losers) scarfs...

Some a hole nicked a pint off our table in the concourse, we've some cheap c##ts follow us.

Spoke to couple of Makems, they told me a lot of them book free cancellation hotels at the beginning or just after the start of the season, stay at least the night b4 due to the distance and time it takes from Sunderland. Also the earlier they book, the cheaper the hotel prices!

:( genuinely wanted to know what they made of our performance it's not like we were shit for the entire 90, they were dogshit most of the 1st half so I hope they'd be acknowledging our 1st half performance. But yeah can appreciate its not a fun job when you're hurting so fair enough. And thanks for all the ones you have done this season, it's really appreciated!

Yous were all over us first half. I thought it was over before VAR ruled out your second.

Regarding the empty seats it wasn’t that many. If it’s better planned the extra seats could be kept to sell to the other team but that didn’t seem to be the case this time.

I think the blades turnout was very good and so is your home crowds. You have to remember we are a one city club with a big catchment area of neighbouring towns and counties. For the Wycombe league 1 playoff final we sold all our end and half of wycombes upper tier. For the big games we can pull huge crowds.
Part of me gets annoyed that our average home attendance is 40k ish but if we play the mags or a big playoff game there’s demand for much more. Where are they for Preston at home?

Wembley isn’t cheap also. I’m skint after the weekend.

Warning ⚠️

Decent opposition football fan posting!

So we didn't sell every available ticket. So fucking what? Seems we have about 6,000 (give or take) fans who went for the big day out, over and above our average gate this season. I really don't see what all the fuss is about.

We're a decently sized championship/premier league yoyo-type club. Our support is commensurate with that. I'd rather that than the apparently 20,000 "big game charlies" that our neighbours have.
