Will we sell out?

They don't know each other and don't really have the appetite I do to attend.

I'm the same as you. I'd have travelled alone, sat alone and spent the whole day alone if I had to, to be there.

A lot of casuals (like the piggy day trippers) will just be mates of mates who think 'ahh why not' when their die hard mates ask if they fancy coming with them.

Its why I really don't care about how many we sell. The policy means all the die hards will all get a ticket if they want one.
Agreed. Everyone has their opinion on the ticketing policy and appreciate that many aren’t particularly happy about it, but at the end of the day if it’s a toss up between the day trippers and the fans who attend every game, I don’t think anyone would disagree that the latter deserve their pick of the tickets.

Can we all just agree that from now on if you want to argue with DH9, you can fuck off to porktalk and do it?

I really couldn’t give a fuck about Wednesday’s attendances, whether that’s 50 years ago, 1 years ago or anything in between.

They love that shit over there, so keep this place free of it.
No

The prize of this match is to go into a league we got humiliated week after week just last year.
It was that soul destroying we left matches early in our droves because we didn't want to be in the ground even if we'd forked out £60 plus
We're trying to get in a league where there's no novelty factor for us of playing Man U Liverpool et al and seeing the big name players.
A season in which we seemed destined for auto a few weeks ago just blew up.
It's not a big day out to Wembley we've been there several times in recent years and it's always ended up shit
We've got the worst play off record in the land
We haven't won the play offs ever, or win at Wembley for a century or even a semi final in most of our lifetimes
If we've sold 30,000 , especially with our restrictions, then hats off to our remarkable fans.
Absolutely agree. I am billing it as a big exciting day out for the sake of my lad who's never been before, but to my mates I'm describing it as "another go through the meatgrinder"

Next Saturday is the start of the Blades revival...

It's the hope that kills you each time...maybe this time.... 🤞

From that plan , you would assume that half of 526 would be kept clear for segregation ?
Don't think so - at the semi final a couple of years ago I was in 552 and city fans were in the next section. They may have a problem selling 526 to Sunderland because I'd assume the concourse segregation is set up based on the block allocations to each team

524 is not really selling, so I would be surprised if any more blocks get opened up. I imagine there's plenty in 524 for any remaining demand, with lots of seats together still available at all price levels.

Fans of all clubs always moan about ticket selling arrangements, but my view is that the club have probably got it about right this time: priority given to Season Ticket holders and members (who snapped up most of the better seats), but also plenty of opportunity for anyone else who wants to come and support the Blades to get a ticket. Anyone who hasn't got one still can, as long as they know someone with 200 points (and, frankly, if you neither have 200 points yourself nor know someone who has, you probably can't complain too much about not getting a ticket).

My suggestions for improvement would be relatively minor ones:

  • 1 day would have been enough for ST holders. Hardly anything sold on Thursday, which unnecessarily reduced the amount of time for Members and General Sale folks to make travel arrangements.
  • In some cases they could have opened new blocks slightly quicker: some people ended up panicking and buying singles for their group, only to later see new blocks become available. New blocks could maybe be opened when, for example, no existing block has 4 together remaining.
  • (Obviously the KO time debacle, but that wasn't the club's fault).

All of that said, anyone who has tried to get tickets for almost any other big event (Glastonbury springs to mind) will have had a far, far worse experience than this. At least we didn't have dynamic pricing or any of that crap. Well done to all involved.

It's not a toss up between them though, there is enough for both in our case
Sunderland have a bigger average attendance than the amount of tickets they are getting, there are no day trippers.

Our "day trippers" should be encouraged, and they should be allowed to buy whatever is left even if they have no points

Handful of tickets still available in 114. Annoying when I've already got mine in 506 and there's seemingly no way to change it!
I did the same.Bit the bullet and bought more and managed to flog the cheaper ones at a discounted price.

I make it 17 in total up to the newly released block 524.

This has 122 + 131 + 102 + 57 (back to front)

So 429 left unless there are other blocks

When the club announced that supporters with 200 points could buy two tickets, they said it was after approval from the EFL.

So sounds like the EFL stipulate a minimum points amount to ensure segregation.

I dunno.

If we'd not been to Wembley in decades and hadn't had such a miserable experience to remember I think we'd sell out in a blink of an eye. I just think so many supporters carry mental scars that it's a tough sell, whatever the opposition and occasion
Carry mental scars ?

We lost some football matches

What’s the minimum number of points you need to buy a single ticket? Is it 200?

Hopefully we'll be a bit quicker to open the next block, can't help but feel we'd have sold quite a few more tickets had we opened 524 up sooner. I bought 2 tickets at about half 2 and at that point they were about the only ones left together. It wasn't for another 5 hours or so, after the ticket office had closer that we opened another block. Surely as soon as it's down to single seats the next one should open.

Sounds logical but Wembley want those single seats to be sold
because then it gives them the option to maybe later give Sunderland an extra 1000 tickets that were initially given to us.

If they open the whole seating….it would be like what we get at Bramall Lane with single seats scattered all over the place.

Also think it was quite clever how they don’t allow refunds, cancellations or amendments.
So once better seats become available you’re not allowed to swap.

Someone mentioned a good point that sitting together isn’t as essential as normal because the Wembley concourses are open and spacious
You have freedom to walk around to all areas within that tier, so you can easily meet up with friends and family at half time.

Overall it's an awful system. I'm sure many fans had the same panicky experience I did due to the ridiculous "opening of blocks at random only for them to sell out by the time you've clicked on them" followed by the constant "this event is no longer available for sale" message. 10 refreshes later and it works! Only to the get the same message when you try and select a block.

It's still doing it this morning when I highly doubt there's thousands of us on there like there was yesterday at 1pm.

And why were the cheap seats available first? We're up in the heavens because I didn't want to miss out buying 6 together, only for much better seats to suddenly come available.

And finally.. I'm not sure if it's my phone or my eyes but it's almost impossible to see the aisle in the middle. I originally thought I was buying aisle tickets but checked on the Wembley seat view thing and they were bang in the middle. I think that wouldve been a bit overwhelming for my 5 and 8 year old's so I'm glad I checked and managed to change them!

Hello from Totton!

Kin hell, they nearly lost me as fan after those.
Genuinely, quite a few will have made the promise to never fork out for Wembley again. Or for the play offs in general.
This is our tenth go. Ten. No wonder we've lost some along the way.
I promised myself after the Burnley game that I would never go again. Sadly, my father in law persuaded me to go to the Hull game, but that was it for me.

I was the other way, Burnley and Huddersfield broke me so Hull was the one I refused to go to.
Ive caved because of the Wilder factor this time.

I've had many season tickets over the past 20 years, the last was the 20/21 season. Been on the ticket site and it says 0 loyalty points, what the fucks that all about?

Hello from Totton!
I think most of that might be your end; the system seems completely stable today (as indeed it has every day, apart from briefly going down on weds evening). Perhaps it doesn’t work so well on a phone?
They sold blocks on each tier from north to south as advertised, not cheap seats first.

I’m bored, so just counted up the tickets that are left.

Section 218- 2 left
Section 519- 3 left
Section 521- 1 left
Section 522- 4 left
Section 524- loads left…about 800

Section 525 not opened- capacity 1,118 tickets
Section 526 not opened- capacity 1,118 tickets
Section 527 is a smaller section, not sure if this is used for segregation or open to us……approx 500 tickets.

So it appears that there are 3,546 tickets left…..maybe 3,046 if 500 are blocked off for segregation.

If our official allocation is 35,531…..then I calculate we’ve sold 31,985 tickets to date, roughly 32K and still a week of sales to go.
Looks certain it will be a sell out or very very close to one……doesn’t look like Sunderland will be offered extra blocks….possibly block 527 at a push.
Thanks for that. Was just gonna ask if there’s a deadline for when you can purchase 👍🏻

Not much use when the only tickets available at line point were top tier when friends and family are on the lower 🤷‍♂️

Also like the work you've put in and please do an update, I think we will sell between 33k and 34k which I think is a good effort, loads of people who I know aren't going due to cost can't make it or

Great work and keep us updated, I think we will sell nearly 34k which is a good effort, lots I know aren't going because of cost involved which is a shame
