Will we sell out?

No chance that we could shift 46K, we’ll shift 25K with 1 ticket per season ticket holder, there is no great appetite for this, Sunderland or Coventry will get part of our allocation and so we’ll be outnumbered 2 to 1 & all because the ticket office and people like you Frank are clueless…

I don't think Cov will sell out their allocation. Been twice in two years, so not a novelty. Lost both on pens, so have suffered the Wembley misery too. If we beat Bristol comfortably on Monday, I think there'll be some negativity in the Cov fans about facing us.

It's difficult. We won't sell out at one per person but we can't give 2 on the chance that every season ticket holder buys one. Maybe an idea would be to give season ticket holders 1-2 days to get their ticket, then it goes to members for a day and then a free for all, 4 tickets per person. I think one of the reasons we struggled against Man City is how long we left it for non season ticket holders. People need to plan what they're doing and it becomes more difficult to organise travel and accommodation the longer they are made to wait.

Your suggestion is what I expected to happen.
However it was strictly 1 ticket per ID and there was a minimum points requirement of 500 points.
Think you needed to have attended at least 5 previous United matches and registered them on the database.

Where as you can see how Man City organised their sales, season ticket holders were allowed up to 4 tickets each.
Sheff Wed season ticket holders were allowed up to 6 tickets each for their play-off final against Barnsley hence they were almost sold out before reaching general sale.
And for some reason Man City started selling their semi final tickets a full week before us. We let the excitement subside before putting them on sale.

But Man City sell to 'citizens' where our fans are 'customers'...

I disagree it’s only an hour away and as for Sunderland they could fill it on their own..

If you’re so sure we won’t sell out wait until general sale and get your ticket then. The idea that day trippers should have the same opportunity as ST holders only ever comes from those who want to take Wifey, Cousin It, Ranji who’s flying in from Goa and Aunty Joan and her latest beau on a family day out. Go for a picnic. Not something you’d think about with that mindset but we have fans who can’t afford a season ticket upfront but see every game after paying top whack. They deserve far more than someone in their fifties who “might” become a regular.

Since the McCabe days our fanbase has grown from two things, reasonable ticket prices and excellent kids pricing. Not as good as it has been but still more likely to keep people coming back than a trip to Wembley for people who’d probably enjoy a day at Blackpool Pleasure Beach just as much.
Marketing isn’t your strongest point is it Sean 😂😂

That sounds about right. Season tickets holders and members the 1st 24 hours. Then anyone who has been to a home game this season( and on the database) for the next 24 hours. Then open it up for ST holders and members to buy 2 extra tickets for the next 24 hours then general sale .

Disclaimer:if we get there

Man City a far bigger fan base than ours couldn’t sell their allocation at 4 per season ticket holders, so no chance we would sell out at 2 per season ticket holder…

Possibly not but l don’t think a free for all for Aunt Fanny etc is the answer.

I do agree with you that selling two to each ST holder wouldn’t sell out and that the system is unnecessarily flawed.

Do you think for instance someone with 60k LP’s who due to work hasn’t had a season ticket or membership this season would have to abide by the same criteria as the Day Out 5 who hardly ever go when it comes to any Wembley allocation?

I don’t think we’d sell out if we could all buy 100 tickets each, so I think the less barriers we have the better & would stop our opponents having some of our allocation, which would give their team a huge lift…

Queueing up in the car park overnight with a bag full of ten shilling notes was more fun.
Tearing out voucher D from your season ticket book.

Ah the good old days.
People could work ten shilling notes and could hold hands in the queue as well as at the match…….

I've always said I wouldn't go to another play off final. I changed my mind and want to go this one as I believe we will win. My wife has gone and booked a holiday so we'll be watching it in a bar and celebrating afterwards.

we really do have the most simpering pathetic fanbase in the entire western world

Always fucking crying about something ,usually made up bullshit like this

That’s because Man City are there 2, 3 or even 4 times every season. It’s no wonder they can’t be arsed to travel down for a semi final!

Inevitably…..

“All those fuckin’ day trippers at Wembley, telling everybody to sit darn, not singing, killing the atmosphere. Give me 15000 proper Blades any day. Bloody ticket office selling tickets to anybody. What happened to loyalty points?”

Part of the experience sleeping put at Car park. Done it a few times.

Worst was Forrest away in 2003 po. Woke up at around 7am and only 2 in queue behind me. Think it was 1st day if general sale, either way there were very few tkts left. Slept on turnstile step of SS as that's where they were selling tkts from.

Most season ticket holders probably already go to the games with their family and friends, so I highly doubt allowing 2 tickets per season ticket, for Wembley, will result in a season ticket holder missing out.

In general, the ticket office do put up barriers for new fans, and they shouldn’t have to jump through hoops to go to a home game. A ticket should be purchasable online, “call the ticket office to see if they can sort it” isn’t the answer in 2025. Potential new support will see that as effort and put them off, it’s an online world now. The ticket office need to adapt in order to grow the fan base.

And we all know that for a trip like that the ticket is just one part of the expense.
Correct! I pre booked a b&b the night we played Stoke it cost £91 for 2 nights breakfast included an free parking which I don't think is bad at all. No payment upfront an free cancellation untill the 22nd, checked yesterday and they've already gone up by £45. It's 7 mile from wembley and 2 mins walk from tube station so getting to and from it's ideal.
