what does everyone think about the battle for yorkshire pride next season?,i hate to say this but ive got a niggle that leeds(HORRIBLEBASTARDS,REALLY HORRIBLE)will do pretty well next season, and hull, well, can you put them in the(battle of yorkshire)bracket?Put it this way,i reckon if we finish above leeds,we wil have had a good season.:fishbowl::fishbowl:

If we get promoted next season the season will be a success. Everything else is immaterial.

do you really think that promotion can be achieved next season with the same manager and same board of directors.?cos i fukin dont.

Probably not, but i won't consider the season a success if the only thing that marks it out as a success for some is that we finish the top team in yorkshire. If we are the top team in yorkshire but don't get promoted, all we are is slightly better than shit. If you want to celebrate that then that's fine, but it's nothing to be celebrated for me.

well if you believe the bookies sky bet have us 14-1 and weeds 12-1 to win championship

Caps lock or Shift Key people, Yorkshire not yorkshire :D

Blackwell has proved he can get us near the top of the table with a stable team, last season for many reasons that have been debated to death on here so I'm not going back over them, we didn't have a stable team and it didn't work.
Next season is a fresh start, so I'm waiting and seeing before I start bigging (not a real word but Meh) us up or righting us off.

Looking at the Skybet, I don't know what they see in Norwich at 14/1 above Bristol City at 16/1? Leeds are above us at 12/1, but at the moment, if Leeds make no additions to their squad (obviously they will) and without Beckford they won't finish above us. Burnley should do well, but of course with sponge bob square head in charge, who knows, they've got a serious losing mentality under him. On the plus side, they have got a few players out of contract and should be able to bring in plenty of new players on championship wages, and won't be finanicially damaged.
Portsmouth might have another points deduction, and I wouldn't rule Hull out of the administration picture either.
So next season, there's every chance we could finish above Leeds, but equally if they invest properly on or or two they could have a chance.
What about a Blades v Leeds Play Off Final?

Actually i will consider the season a success if we reach the play-off final and actually manage to score a goal this time round.

....What about a Blades v Leeds Play Off Final?
I think I echo the thoughts of most Blades in that if we did win a play-off final the second choice opponents to beat after Wednesday would be Dirty Leeds.

But here's a scenario for you to play over in your minds.

Just imagine if, contrary to our tradition of bottling it big-time, we actually won a play-off final. And yes, against the unwashed of Leeds. How unhappy would their fans be? Imagine the carnage they would unleash. They got arsey about one defeat at the Lane and ripped seats out by the dozen. The trail of devastation up the M1 all the way back to Yorkshire would be immense. Every service station would be trashed, and London would look like it hasn't since the Blitz. If they beat us we'd probably be philosophical about it, after all, losing play-off finals is what we do. But imagine how mardy they would be if they lost to us. London would look like Godzilla had been to town.

Yep, that would be pretty fucking cool.:)

I could see Leeds finishing above us next season quite easily. I expect us to finish bottom half next year. Are you counting Hull as Yorkshire too? I'm still old school and call it Humberside, but if you count Hull as East Yorks then you might find us being the 3rd best team in Yorkshire next season.

On what basis are you forecasting a bottom half finish?

Calling it Humberside is more Middle School, Old School is East Riding of Yorkshire.

Just wait until Todmorden get their act togther.

Surely the actual questions are:
1) Can we acquire enough players to fill the subs bench?
2) Can we stay up?

Middlesbrough is technically in North Yorkshire, but the smoggies always try and lump themselves in with Sunderland and Newcastle. For me, Boro never has been and never will be a Yorkshire derby. They consider their rivals to be the mackems and the barcodes, rather than Leeds/United/Wednesday/Barnsley/Doncaster etc.

Middlesbrough used to be in Cleveland before they 'returned' to North Yorkshire. So they might have some identity problems :)

Poor team, poor manager. We've been gradually in decline under Blackwell: 3rd to 8th, if we drop another 5 places then that takes us bottom half. We currently have 9 contracted players and there is talk of 3 contacted players going out of the door. The team that finished 8th and is on the decline is cutting the wage bill for next year too. We have very few quality players in the actual squad.

On top of this my friend the ginger statistical warrior (do you remember that thread) did the ratings in January and rated Sheffield United as 13th best in the league.
