No. I’m sure Wilder wanted to keep Osula but the club has a price set for him and Newcastle met it. It might have been different had we sold Ahmedhodzic or Souza.
 

Good move for Osula and the Blades.

A bit of wonga to push through the final 2 or 3 signings that we need? (Post Gilchrist signing)

No, they see £10m for someone who’s not really done that much yet. The fact that we have One is coincidence.

Osula is 3 years older and only just on the fringe of the side so no I don't think the two are linked

Did your well connected friend explain to you what it is in Saudi culture that allows one wealthy Saudi, with responsibility for some of the country’s sovereign wealth fund, effectively giving some of that to one of his fellow Saudis, or did you accept that assertion without challenging it? If not, could you ask him, I’m really interested to know. Thanks

spot on i think bettis stated we needed one big sale and we all assumed it would be either anel or souza but no takers as yet so osula had to be sacrificed although do think his sale will enable us to bring 3 good players in souttar and gilchrest already in

Actually, from looking at the minutes played in pre-season, it might be Marsh that is the one we have the hopes for.
 

Howe wants to speak to him, so sounds like some else recommended him to Howe - Paul Mitchell? My personal view on this is that Osula will turn into a very good player, he has been excellent at every other level he has played and has all the physical attributes. However at this point in time the fee is excellent for United.

"The Osula deal was delayed by Newcastle’s pre-season trip to Japan, with key members of staff with the group in the Far East.

The Chronicle add that Eddie Howe also played a role in the transfer being held up, as he wanted to speak to Osula in person before he signed on the dotted line.

But Newcastle are back from Japan now, and the deal has advanced to the point that all fans are waiting for is official confirmation from the club."
 
Is it logical to think the Osula deal and shirt launch without a sponsor is an indication the tekkova is off?
 
Has this deal collapsed? Why after all the time he's been in Newcastle has he not signed.
It would be our luck for the deal of the century to go tit's up.
 
I wonder if United have asked Newcastle to hold off the announcement until we have had a little more time to negotiate with other clubs re potential incoming players. Doesn't help our negotiations if other clubs suddenly see that we have a large sum of cash definitely coming our way. Better to agree a price, and get it all but done before Osula’s transfer becomes official. It's a possibility.

I did wonder the same, but so we could announce a few signings first.

It would’ve been a complete meltdown if we had announced the Osula sale before Gilchrist and Souttar
 

Bettisss said we needed one big sale plus Archer . This suggests the main two candidates have thus far attracted the number of bids that usually draws Banana to post.
