CONFIRMED Will Osula sold to Newcastle United

People seem to hang off every word Fabrizio Romano says. Newcastle's initial offer was £10m rising to £15m. We rejected that but a deal has been struck since so I don't think it's unreasonable to assume that it's £15m rising to £20m. Same happened with Bogle: Leeds' initial offer of £3m rising to £5m ended on a deal at £5m rising to £7m.

As with most of our sales we'll allow the media narrative to suggest we received a lower fee (see also Berge to Burnley (£15m) and Ndiaye to Marseille (£20m), probably in the belief that it helps with the negiotiations for incoming players. We also allow the media narrative to suggest we pay more than we actually do (prime example Ramsdale who cost us £12.6m, not £18.5m), probably so we can suggest that less money is available.

It's been consistent since PA took over that we have set valuations for players. Ahmedhodzic and Souza haven't attracted bids at the required levels, Osula has.

Still even if it's £10 mil up front I'd hope that'd cover Michael Cooper fee and maybe a cheap option striker like Sory Kaba or something
It won't. £10m up front will cover the rest of the drop in revenue after relegation. £15m would allow us to reinvest.

A good friend of mine is one of the army Newcastle of analysts assembled by Ashworth. He has told me that the Osula signing is not one from the scouting department. Obviously they have a file on him, but he wasn’t in the top 50 suggested development players put forward to target.

This most likely scenario would be that it’s come from a high-ranking member of staff (Paul Mitchell or Eddie Howe). However my friend has worked with Mitchell in the past and is pretty certain it isn’t his pick. He also says that Howe is normally quite hands off, and generally trusts the scouting team, occasionally voting down suggestions but rarely providing them, especially when it comes to younger players.

For those reasons, he thinks this has come from the ownership group - who have something in common with our fair prince. I haven’t read every post, so not sure this has been brought up, but I wonder if there’s more than meets the eye with this deal.

If it is, it’s about time we got some benefit from the connection. He should ask em if they need a keeper as well.

Have a like from me for an exceptionally well crafted & articulated conspiracy theory.
Even if (when ?!) it turns out to be bobbins I will remember it (& your good self) with a certain fondness.
Fare thee well good fellow

A family member helping another family member out.

They get an exciting prospect, we get cash in hand which we desperately need.

Win Win

I heard Max Lowe wasn’t on Danny Rohl’s top 50 list of fullbacks he wanted this window (because he’s shit) but Chansiri knew we wanted rid of him (because he’s shit) so they agreed to take him off our hands as a neighbourly gesture.

This has Porktalk origin vibes written all over it I'm afraid.

For what it’s worth, I’m a long suffering blade. 😢

Get a room
Aye
Care to join us ?
The pillow talk has got to be more edifying & interesting than the ‘usual’ tosh spouted re ‘’trousered’ PL money / swift to sell: sloth like to buy / over pay: under sell / employ inept footballers (on long contracts: fail to secure (or sign) quality footballers etc etc etc
At least Lama gives some thought (?!?) to their particular ‘take’

This is pure gold. It really is!

Is it payment owed because we let them improve their goal difference last season as they pushed for Europe????

I love all the Saudi conspiracy bollocks. Wasn’t the reason the owner wanted to sell also because his big scary cousin told him to? Did we also chuck 8 in against them because he wanted to save face at the family Eid gathering?

Absolute bollocks.

Not kept up with this thread but do you reckon the club sees One has a bigger future talent and could be looking to free up his route into the team?
