confirmed wants 2 centre halfs 1 mid and 2 wingers. interested in EEL return, in discussions with brayford but doesn't sound like he will return, reed and whiteman out on loan

He's not named all the positions there.

There's also a goalkeeper, a right back/wing back, a striker and possibly a number 10 to consider.

It's just a question of how many of those he has mentioned could also cover those positions.

Would love us to try and include Jackson Irvine in the deal somehow, but he's probably a little bit out of reach for us now.

Goodn call and I don't see why he's out of our reach, Us or Burton? unless premiership/top champ teams come in for him.

I think the bigger clue to the summer recruitment is the mention of a squad of 24 rather than the specified positions

Usually helps if show the full discussions. CW wants 24 players in our squad, he believes the 3 Transfer Listed will go.

Means we are looking to sign around 9.

I don't think you'll be too far off with that list

Be very disappointed if we don't bring another striker in

Agree

Sharp is our only reliable striker BUT he'll only score if the ball is played directly to his feet.
Ched and Clarke have loads of potential but we've no idea how they'll get on at Championship level.
Hanson is more limited but tactically will be really useful against certain teams.

I suspect that regards strikers our owners might look to the loan market.
And hold back decent funds to be used in the January transfer window.

Which one of our current keepers do you see leaving?

IMHO Long is nowhere near Champ standard so I'd expect him to move on if anyone is daft enough to make an offer (considering he's still go a year left on his contract so he won't be a freebie).

Have you seen Long play behind a stable defence? I don't think I ever have, mostly just Neil Collins and Jay McEveley.

I suppose it's not what we think that matters though. Do you think Wilder will be looking to get rid of any of our keepers? My main point is that we have 3 already. I'm not saying we can't improve in that area, just saying I can't see room for 4.

The fact is, we don't have a keeper with the ability to challenge Moore for the shirt, and this needs addressing asap.

So is that list after the Ched signing or before?

LBW should = Enda Stevens

The third keeper is Jake Eastwood who's now 21 but whose development suffered a little with the emergence of Ramsdale. He needs to be out on loan somewhere to see if he has what it takes to make it as a pro. Long also needs to leave for his own benefit - he's either going to be sat on our bench or getting pelters from the crowd at the Lane.

What a bloody shame we had to sell Ramsdale. If he stayed I don't think we'd need to entertain the idea of a new keeper.

Isn't the list just really every position that is in the team?
I'm not saying there's anything wrong with current squad and players but seems to me Sir Wilder is keeping his options open for all positions?

Agree but Ramsdale for Etheridge + £1m isn't a bad result IMO.

The risk of him going to Cardiff instead seems to have abated somewhat as they're now heavily linked with Lee Camp.

Bladey Inferiority Complex.

Good players simply won't sign for us. They will go to Barnsley, Bristol City or Burton, though, to name but three giants that caps have been doffed to recently...
You have left out the mighty Bolton who as per Channel 5 will be targeting a paly off place next season at least.

Long his crap. Just watching him flap at corners is enough to realise he's not good enough. Don't know why he feels the need to punch so many balls as well when at times he could hold on to the ball and take the pressure off. And don't anybody come at me with "he's still only young" as he's played more than enough professional games to force his way in. He's a disaster waiting to happen.

I have. In Wilson’s 2nd season. And he kept loads of clean sheets. Made the odd rick though like Hartlepool at home. That said, so much of the game is mental for ‘keepers and if Long can’t recover his confidence, he’ll be of little use to us. Steve Simmonsen was a good ‘keeper once upon a time before his brain turned to shit.
