Wilders thrown us under the bus

The best time to leave us and 'throw us under a bus' would have been at the end of last season after finishing 9th.

He could have probably secured a better paid job elsewhere with better terms.

Instead he thought 'you know what I'll stay in order for losers like Hblockblade to feel better.'
Very true. Though the contrast between this season and last is interesting. My personal theory is that Wilder put a fiver on us to go down this season at the bookies and he's just making sure his bet comes in.

Yeh I think I do, but it would be wasted on pretty much everyone on here who still thinks the red and white sun shines out of his arse.
Would love to be able to do that. I would then get invited to all the best parties.

Why are people so polarised?
They either want to be in the Chris Wilder gang so you can hate the owners or want to be in the Prince gang...so they feel they need to hate Wilder.
Why is there this need to hate and look for scapegoats? I see it all over social media.

I don‘t feel any need to be in gang. Wilder has done brilliant for us...given me some of my best times supporting United in 40 years.
We were going away to Arsenal and Spurs with no fear...and I felt fairly confident we would win.
So in that respect Wilder deserves the plaudits and will always be a legend to me.

However the Prince (like every owner) has bought this club as an investment.
Wilder has plenty of valid excuses but this season has been a total disaster.
Therefore any responsible owner should already be carrying out a post mortem and no one (not even Wilder) should be exempt from honest criticism.
You would imagine that the Prince must want make some changes...which is logical, fair and reasonable.

One would suspect that Wilder hasn’t accepted the proposed changes or new ideas and threatened to leave (again).
This time the Prince has decided that he is the owner wanting the best for SUFC and he can’t allow a manager or player to think they are bigger than the club.
So he’s called Chris Wilders bluff and refused to back down.....so Wilder has interpreted this as a vote of no confidence and seen an escape route.

On the face of it....I can understand why someone could accuse Wilder of walking out on the club but I’d also argue how it must have been incredibly stressful and painful for him to be in charge of his beloved club breaking records for the wrong reasons.

Basically we should all learn to be tolerant...the Prince is doing his best for SUFC...and Wilder was doing his best for SUFC but CW also needs to consider his own mental health and the happiness of his family. Life goes on...and we should wish Wilder all the best in his future ambitions,

Wilder was in an awful place
He felt responsible for what will end as our worst ever season results wise in the league.
Other externarnal events .loss of crowds covid in general reduced income to that expected addaed to the events

Being a blade probably worked against him in this scenario
. He felt too much
I agree.

As I've said elsewhere I don't think Chris is very well at the moment.

I think that he cares too much about United and is currently residing in a very dark place.

During all his interviews over the past few months he has looked very down, he's struggled to put a coherent sentence together, he's always been on the defensive, and he's made excuses, none of which fits with his previously bright bubbly outgoing image.

He's also badmouthed his employers in public which is probably not so out of character, but he definitely has been looking like a broken man.

Chris is a very proud man and would probably see asking for help as a sign of weakness whereas it would actually be a sign of real strength in our position.

My hope is that the Prince has seen these signs and has felt the need to act in the best interests of Chris as well as the club.

The best case scenario is that Chris gets himself well after a period of rest and it would be an added bonus he managed to come back to us when he is in a much better place.

I may of course be well wide of the mark, and in some ways I hope that I am but whatever the situation Chris's health and well being is the most important consideration for me.

Must have been a different version i saw back in the day.

Most of their clothes were coming off....
I'm sure it was! Reminds me of the time I searched for the Forbidden Planet stores on the world wide internet web on the works computer but inadvertently got a very different kind of forbidden planet....😳. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I know what you mean.

All the videos I've watched where a fella goes round to fix a woman's sink and I'm still none the wiser......

I don't think he's screwed us over in any way. I think he's left, or been pushed out, because of a fundamental difference of opinion with the people who, for better or worse, control the club and hold the purse strings.

I will always look back on the last 5 years as an amazing time to be a blade. 2 promotions, an incredible season in the PL, and countless amazing memories. He rescued us from the doldrums and took us to the highest highs I have ever seen. Sheffield United in the top half of the Premier League? I never thought I'd see that.

We're in a new era now. The post-Wilder era. The fanbase needs to be United now more than ever. Spending time being angry about a former manager, however good he was, will achieve nothing. Fact is, we are owned and controlled by the prince, and he will do what he wants to. Hopefully, what he wants to do will be in the best interests of the club. I, for one, will still be there regardless.

Cheers Tufty. You worked wonders and gave us all memories that will last a lifetime. Here's to the next step.

If he wasnt a blade most on here would have been calling for his head at Xmas.

You’re probably right, but it’s a depressing thought.

I wouldn’t have cared if he was Gary Megson - anyone who ridiculously overachieves for 4 consecutive years mustn’t be judged by those abnormal standards. Blades fan or not, he gets another year’s support from me.

I still don't think more than 1% of the fanbase wanted him to actually go

People seem to forget the two open top buses, so not been thrown under one in My mind.

Do you know something I don't? I don't see where United have been deliberately shafted.
Me. Gone to progress his career. Doesn’t really care about the Blades.
Could’ve gone to many bigger clubs last year. Stayed. Loves the club as much as we do. Sometimes it’s time to move on. Let’s hope we get a manager that gets us promoted next season.

As much as I can't stand the numerous other tearful, hair-pulling, chest-beating threads of woe about his departure, neither can I understand this.

What is the point of all these threads, one way or the other? Football manager falls out with chairman/board. Dog bites man.

His run of success with us was almost certainly over. He may have been able to lift things by the bootlaces and get us back into contention next season and I was willing and interested to find out, but it looks like neither party wanted that.

Longevity and football managers doesn't usually go. When he left he was the joint 6th longest serving manager. The only ones with more time in the job were Weaver (father owns club), Coleman (special case going back to 1999), Dyche, Klopp and Tom Ryddle at Wycombe.

He's failed (and how) this season after four fantastic ones. Where does the bus come into it?

Sick of all this sentimental clap trap , two blokes disagree and neither will shift from their way enough to sort the situation out.
People have taken sides but no on knows wtf has gone off , from being very pro Wilder a week ago I have jumped on the fence ... princey is taking a lot of flak from some , maybe underserved.
There is as much chance Wilder has jumped ship for one reason or another than the prince has forced him out because of unreasonable demands from Wilder

Agreed.

Sometimes "mutual consent" can actually mean mutual consent and none of us know what is actually going on in the background.

Hi Stegosaurus here

I agree.

The hero worship of him on here reminds me of Trump supporters. Surprised they haven't stormed Bramall Lane wearing Make United Great Again hats
Or reminds you of the bowing to Chansiri at York or wherever it was?

I mean, hyperbole aside, this works both ways.

The majority are frothing at the gash to go to one of the extremes. It's either...

"fucking Abdullah fucking over this club. Doesn't fucking care about poor Wilder."

Or... well... the OP.

Why can't it be a case of both making errors and both being unlucky the way things have unfortunately turned out?
I think there's some fairness in acknowledgement that there could be fault on both sides. But one loves the club and has given us the best period we're ever likely to enjoy as blades and it's clear to see that the club means to him what it does to us. The other has no emotional attachment to it. No track record of doing anything special for us and has shown complete disrespect in terms of the Comms coming out of the club in the last week. Any attempt at balance ought to bear the weight of these factors.
