What do you want him to say everybody..

He's the hardest job in the world right now, keeping tossers who aren't putting it in for him happy, and defending them all ends up..

Were relegated. He's not a bad manager over night.. They're not playing for him.. He can defend them all he likes.. But they aren't putting into it what he is.. Its that simple..

Ps, wilder, isn't in the pitch.. He's not a player.. Some of this must rest with the players for fucks sake..

It’s the same shite over and over. I am not sure though what else he would say. He can’t tell the truth which is we are a bag of gash that have lost all direction and that he brought zero quality in to improve the first team. Or he wouldn’t get the sympathy from summarises and fucking influencers. Makes me sick
This is the point. He has made mistakes, but it wouldn’t be in anyone’s interest to acknowledge them in an after match interview.

Well it seems just about everyone agrees with you, but I’m yet to hear much from him that I don’t agree with.

He does ignore the elephants in the room, for obvious reasons.

Fact is, there’s nothing he can say that will go down well on a run like this

I get that he can’t come out and sugar coat the situation.

However, his persona has completely changed and for me it’s hard to grasp.

His attitude had always been about not being overawed by the opposition, going toe to toe with anyone etc. The gulf in transfer fees and wages were always irrelevant and we had a sort of siege mentality. We were here because we deserved to be and were going to have a good go at it.

This season he’s gone completely full circle. That has obviously rubbed off on the players who are clearly playing with no belief whatsoever.

Credit to him for doing the interview if that were my team making that performance I'd have been too embarrassed to step in front of a camera. Surprised he wasn't asked if had thought about resigning the interviewer must have felt sorry for him.

Wilder not on the pitch? Did he get credit for our successes??
Give over, throughout football the accountability (rather than responsibility) lies with the manager. He’s still employed despite 2/51, so he’s hardly hard done by.

He sounds like a Manager who knows he’s not getting sacked no matter what happens. The Prince dropped a huge bollock with what he said.
Now you’ve said it, with the way he walks and moves about he might actually have big balls. He’s gunna need em an all cus he’s got decisions to make like stand by him, which he says or watch us become the biggest jokes in football

Well yes, he’s really down. But if he were really upbeat, he’d be a accused of not caring.

I stand by the fact that you can’t possibly talk your way out of 2 points in 20 games.

Seeing as so many managers must be saying “it’s my fault”, there must be thousands of them about on YouTube.

Could you post just a few links?
Look back last season and the season before. Wilder has admitted he's made mistakes previously.

No he's not on the pitch but was still talked of in Godlike terms when things were going well. I'd love a job where, when things are going well I'm praised to the hilt but when things turn to shit it's nothing to do with me.

When we were winning?

It really isn’t a trait that successful managers possess, or that you’d appreciate if you heard it in the middle of such an appalling run.

ALL you would hear is “stop making the same mistakes then”

These interviews are as much for the players as the fans. Saying you can't go toe to toe with teams etc could easily be about trying to keep morale up to win the games you need to win to stay up in a relegation battle. There's plenty that's indefensible this season but he's not a thick man and can clearly see we're shit, he's just not going to say it and I doubt any other manager in this situation would.

Managers are obliged to give interviews by the EPL

He’s not yet turned into Nigel Adkins in these but he isn’t far off Nigel Clough.

To go all Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson on you for a moment, leaders use fighting talk to try and motivate and galvanise people to be successful. To keep telling the players they're not good enough to compete with the opposition would hardly be a rallying call. It's precisely the opposite of what he was saying last year. I can't imagine any player would be motivated by being told to go out there and do their best as they're facing better players and they're not expected to win!

What im really struggling with Chris at the minute is the lack of spirit in these interviews.

Last season it was more "i dont care how good the opposition are", and this season we're hiding behind the fact theyre established teams.

It could just be that he knows this is what he is going to get from us and public kickings won't work on the team in the state they're in. Hard to watch though.

Without getting political this year has shown Al doesn't know much about leading. They're a beaten and broken group, after the Chelsea match say when confidence is pretty much completely gone I don't think telling them how they should've been competing with the team that's outclassed them from start to finish is going to do any good.

I was thinking more about competing and not necessarily winning. Battling for ever tackle. Trying to get to the ball first. Getting the second balls, pressing etc etc. They are starting flat every game. A bit of Henry V probably wouldn't hurt!

I imagine different stuff is said to them in person, probably important to not give them the impression of throwing them under the bus to the media. No doubt they need a kick up their arse, and no doubt Wilder has done plenty wrong this season, I'm just not sure the post match interviews are the best place to criticise a team in the shit.

Did I hear him say something along the lines of ‘they’ve given me everything but it wasn’t enough, it might not be enough for me’. Sounded to me like he thinks his job is in danger.

"they have quality upfront" - (Benteke and ayew) they're both gash so that's bollocks... Zaha is literally the one real gamechanger they have. Predictable interview as always. It's never wilders fault.
I don’t think he’s deflecting blame at all. He says every week “we” have to work on it. That’s him and the players. Most managers would be sending the tea lady out to meet the press by now. He can’t just say “we’re shit and we’re down every week”, that would be the truth but it’s not a great message for him to give out.

Or some of them are getting fucked off out of here in the transfer window?

My missus, by her own admission, knows nowt about football. I was listening to the Wilder interview and she said "he says the same every week". Had to laugh!

Yeah could be taken both ways. I would take it as it might not be enough for him as in them sadly not being good enough rather than not enough for him to save his job.

Ampadu needs to fuck off back to Chelsea, then see his career end up in Div 2. What a useless loan!
