Wilders post match interview

A lot of the squad were on the piss in Manchester last night, some of them heavily. So they are not going to be as fit as the more professional players who don’t do that during the season.
The amount of times I’ve heard this about our squad takes the absolute piss.

I also heard from someone at the club that Selles wouldn’t stand for it a lot of them got the right kite on about it.

this not changing a winning team thing is bollocks, you do also have to adjust your tactics and line up to the opposition, and playing at home is a factor too. Derby are a big, and physical, but struggling and limited side, and we played into their hands by not playing it out wide and on the deck from the off and starting Donovan and Peck.

I just listened to the interview and think it’s just some basic man management stuff he’s doing. He’s not going to unnecessarily knock BBD and Chong is he, and likewise maybe Donovan is a player that needs a bit of tough love. There was a suggestion somewhere (can’t remember where I read it) that Donovan had some attitude problems which maybe stalled his progress after breaking through at Birmingham when he was really young. Maybe wilder doesn’t want him to get ahead of himself. However, if he doesn’t start him on Friday then he’s seriously blinkered. I feel like Wilder has been similarly begrudging of praise for certain players (Seriki being another where he never seems to want to praise him publicly) but I do also think he’s a good man manager and most players seem to like him and want to play for him. He might be saying different things behind closed doors. I understand why he didn’t start Seriki when he hasn’t played in a month or so and the risk of re-injury is higher. I don’t think Seriki will start on Friday either which is fair enough and probably better to play him second half against tired legs.
Nice post and well put . It’s good to have perspective and different slants - Thanks

I don't think Wilder is "finished at this level." He's still a pretty competent manager that will get you around par for the squad you have (results wise).

I do think he's way past his peak though. At his best, he could (and did) massively outperform his means through clever recruitment, motivational talent and tactical nous (along with Knill).

I do have Wilder fatigue, part of me would like to see something new, the football is awful....
but - crucially - I don't trust our owners to get big decisions right. They haven't shown any ability, in any area, so far... they've done nothing to improve the footballing infrastructure above the manager. They're useless.

At least with Wilder, he should keep us steady and you know he genuinely cares about the club.

It's a tough one. I flip between the two sides.
your right captain he will keep us up the squad is good enough to achieve that but boy its a hard watch just now and i think the loss of alan knill is a major factor wilder looks lost and devoid of ideas on the touchline this season younger more progressive coach needs to be brought in whether its this season or next summer
