Wilders Interview - post Bolton

Everything Wilder is dealing with now can directly be traced back to his own actions. Blowing the league in 24/25, fucking up at Wembley, burning through £100s millions and recovering almost none of it. Eventually the piper needs paying.

Current situation is needed to balance the books, which I’d rather have than having to rely on the philanthropy of whoever the current owners are.

Last accounts the wage bill was higher than the income (excluding parachutes). Something needed to be done.

🥱

What 8 days? It was on Saturday you said it.
Apologies, assume I've put 8 because I saw the words "top 8" and got confused when I was typing
Oh right the base of the squad is comfortably top 8. Just nonsense again isn't it.
I'll break it down for you:
- talents that are top champ players at a minimum: Cooper, Burrows, Tanganga, Kitching
Players that are top champ players when on form: Campbell, Bamford, Peck, Arblaster, Phillips, McCallum, Seriki
Players that have it in them to be top champ players (based off previous seasons but never consistent enough): Riedewald, Rothwell, Choudry, Chong, Cannon, BBD
Unproven talents that have shown glimpses: One, Baptiste,
Squad players: McGuinness, Doherty, RND, Shackleton
And that's without any of the talent in the academy, such as Blacker, Sidibe ect
You call me weird. You pretended to think our squad was top 8 a couple of days ago because you wanted to argue with me about Wilder.
As listed above, i believe in my argument. Quite frankly, I couldn't give a rats arse about arguing with you, as you're deluded into believing Wilder is the Messiah no matter what.
Now you're not arguing with me
I literally said in the post you commented on that I don't think Wilder is the right man for job, but the players are buying into it. I'm willing to be convinced, I'm willing to be proven wrong, but I'm not sold yet.

This a thousand times over. People who can’t wrap their head around the fact wilder is complicit in the current situation need to take go take some deep reflection at their wilder shrine.

Do I like him tactically? No
Do I believe in his temperament and ability to manage games? No
Do I trust him with strong financial backing? No

Does his belief in this team when they've got everything against them inspire me? Yes
Do I think he can convince players to run through brick walls for him? Yes
Do I think he can scratch and claw with this raggedy, fucked up squad and salvage something? Yes

The squad clearly believe in you Chris. I did once. Time to do it again

He has actually won me back.

I did think it was right to sack him after Sunderland and I didn't want him back after Selles, just got sick of the defensive tactics and the 'everybody else’s fault' interviews.

But given the clubs current situation (and that phrase is doing the heavy lifting here) I really cant fault him.

5 competitive games unbeaten, every team selection, every sub, every formation has made sense, apart from the subs at Cardiff, he speaks openly and honestly in interviews.

I still don't think he's the man to take this club to the next level, but given what we have got and where we are, its Wilder all the way for me.

Apparently CW was enraged after the match. It appears Bettis had to calm him down, after, allegedly, promises made earlier in the day were reneged on by the owners.

I can agree with parts of this but saying every team selection and every formation has made sense is wild when you look how many players he’s stuck out of position to force his ideas instead of playing around what he’s got ohare was out on the left wing ffs.

I did get the feeling o'Hare was being pulled out of position to cover, rather than being instructed to go there, if you see it differently fair enough.

The football hasn't been good for a couple of years,in fact it's been crap.i would personally prefer us to have a go and get relegated than watch hoofball and stay up.
The recruitment has been lazy ,other teams teams seem to find decent players that dont cost ridiculous amounts of money .
Just my honest opinion,I dont think CW is the man to take us forward but I respect the good things he's done for the club.

I've not been CWs biggest fan over recent seasons, due to what I see as poor quality football and some selections that had me scratching my head (he gets paid millions for being a manager though, while i dont so he obviously knows more than i do).

Having said that and seeing his reaction on last nights winner, I just wonder if we might have s better season than I think we will.

I think CW is at his best when there is no pressure and little expectation.

There cant be many pundits/supporters expecting much from us this season, with what's going on.

Perhaps thats the challenge CW likes/prefers?

People like and rise to different challenges.

He sounded exhausted to be fair, like he’d not been to bed for a few days which may be the case.

Did anyone catch the bit about Arblaster having a “difficult/wonderful 72hrs”? Sounds like a lot to deal with personally for Chris and the family too.

Agree that he and his off-field team haven’t been well enough prepared for today and this is more evidence why you need a better team around him and support. You wouldn’t want a Wilder in that state making massive, defining financial decisions for the club, in the 60 minutes or so after a match. We need someone decent to take that load off him

But hope he gets a good rest now and we go into January better set up (ideally with better people around him). Praising the players he does have is the right approach
He certainly needs it, seemed to think Choudhury had a good game!!

Outplayed by 2 promoted teams and got lucky somehow. Wait till we play the top sides. Very worrying …
And when we got promoted all we heard from fans from other clubs was exactly the same comment lost to sheffield united.
We won because we had a style of play and 11 committed players playing decent football

While the on field problems are the immediate concern, and will be until we get close to 50 points, the off field problems are the ones dragging us down in the long term, the owners and that we are being out scouted and out recruited by a good percentage of our opponents in this division.

I'm with you on this sentiment. He's won me back too.

Don't get me wrong, he's still bloody irritating with his insistence on giving game time to his favourites (Arblaster & Cannon and the Choudhury signing makes no sense to anyone but him), but little doubt over the next 42 games he's going to build the siege mentality and persecution complex that only he can!!

Whether we have the athelticslism and talent to make a real go - time will tell. But as i keep harking back to, we have more talent than Hull and Millwall did last season, and they were comfortably top 6...

Yet got a point away to Swansea who have beat everyone?

We will get better, the fact we’re scoring despite having very little going forward is positive.

This team will give its all, and sometimes it won’t be enough but selling all your best players & not replacing them but still picking up results is a credit to the side.

They’ve done tactical work for two days on COH playing and then at the last minute they have to change. Thsts not easy in itself
agreed if anything selling 3 first team players may even make the squad thats left stronger and want to prove that their capable of giving us a good season you could see that after the game tuesday and once all the squad are fully fit i think we may suprise a few this season

I'm not convinced long term Wilder is the answer,
As he'll be 60 next year I doubt many are expecting Wilder to be the long term answer. But as long as the club has no serious investment he's our best chance of avoiding relegation, and possibly sneaking into the play-offs.

Wow, it’s just hit home that the 4-2 at Hillsborough (Wilder’s 50th) was 9 years ago. Christ life goes fast.
