Wilders comments today

Hearing rumours from folk back from Millwall that Wilder is close to walking.

The fact is Wilder had plenty of time to have his squad well finalised by the seasons start ,no excuses. Now he finds half the players he signed may well have looked ok on a video or two but are actually quite shite. Bit late for getting quality in now, especially when your bosses keep making excuses for why the club cheque book is hugely padlocked in a secret swiss bank with an armed guard 24/7.

Wilder despite the money limitations imposed on him, simply hasn`t been up to it yet, tactics poor, players signed limp, ridiculously shortening the home playing pitch, keeping Long past his was always shit date and happy to see us lump it up to Clarke to flick on to their centre halfs. Half the team are lightweight and if we think Scougall has turned the corner with a shot our dead cat could have saved, well, it`s going to be a long seaosn.

We can only prize talent away from other clubs at this late time of the first window by paying above the odds... and we need to!... Over to you McCabe.

It's 100 days since Wilder replaced Adkins. We can't ditch yet another manager, this time round we have to give it some time. The constant merry go round is damaging the club.

Well its certainly not been helping us
I have to question why we are giving out 3 year contracts to everyone (managers and players) it just feels like we are not learning from our past lessons. Why don't we make them earn a longer contract. I'd put a bet if our playing staff/ managers only had a year contract you'll see them give a lot more.

Quality.

Absolute.

The questioning on the length of contracts has to be answered.
Three years we could be in the Conference. Can anyone say 100% we won't?
Three years we could be in the Premier League. Not impossible.

Or we could still be in L1 floundering as we are now.

Agreed but above that short-term contracted footballing staff you need a layer of stability which provides strategy, continuity and direction. We don't have that...

He sounds like a man crumbling tbh and sounds like a man wrestling with telling the truth and towing the party line.

Contrast the way he spoke about George Long with the hesitation when he starts to explain the Brayford loan and his unconvincing agreement that the money saved will result in new players. It does seem clear to me that Brayford had to go if Wilder wants to strengthen MF and CB.

"We believed that we needed to errr take John,, errr,,,we believe we need to freshen it up a little bit and maybe to release some money to errr maybe put elsewhere and strengthen the squad and I thought Kieron Freeman was outstanding today and errr you know he's not played a lot of football and for him to come here and play like he did we had confidence in Kieron, that could step in so there was a situation where Nigel Clough had spoke to me previously about him and I just thought it was the best decision. Best decision for John, best decision maybe for us, maybe best decision financially as well to do that. I've got no regrets on that, no regrets on that and errr. Kieron came in and will only get better, young player errr and one that will errr, hopefully kick on."

in answer to the question about Brayford being off the wage bill freeing funds for new players "yep, yep it could do" and then he diverts into saying, repeatedly, it was his decision for Brayford to go.

The question not asked was how someone transfer-listed from day 1 and deemed not part of the group was suddenly someone "underneath" who could step in and do a good job. Nor was he asked whether the reason for the difficulties in landing players and for Brayford going is because of financial constraints and pressure from the Chief Exec and the Board to cut the wage bill, but it was RS asking the questions.

Show me a manager that has never made a bad signing.

We've had a few who wouldn't admit to it

The first XI wouldn't win the champions league by any stretch but Wilder's inability to get this group showing any sort of cohesion is very worrying.

Further to that, we've sold our 2 best players once again.

Worrying times for Sheff Utd. Is this the season we drop out of League one?

WE ARE SHEFFIELD UNITED do not give in, yes the start of the season has been hard, but we have to believe. Put things into perspective, were 4 games in and lost 3 and drawn 1, yes that is terrible but we are 3 GAMES IN.

Let's get one thing straight Wilder isn't going after 4 games, he has never had a failure in his management career to date so why would he resign, and that's not even mentioning that he's a Blade, believe in Wilder.

Many examples of teams doing well from a bad start are evident such as Barnsley. If we get behind the team for the rest of the season then we can complain, so let's get behind the players and put our dissapointment and frustration into getting this team back where it belongs into the championship!

COYRAWAWWWW

Didn't go yesterday, so can only base my thoughts on listening to the radio commentary. I would imagine that CW did not go steaming in after realising that after a decent first half performance, then riding our luck in the 2nd half, we nearly escaped from the Den with what would have been a decent point before O'Connell had his Jay Mc moment with a minute left. Must have been as pissed off as the rest of us by this brain dead defending.

Twitter... "Signings struggling to cope...."

I think the manager is STRUGGLING to cope more than the players.
The manager is the leader, if he can't lead, how can the players be expected to follow.
Blindly? Hoping that it might work?

Lots of football between today and end of September....
If the atmosphere is bad today and there's little significant improvement,
they'll all be struggling to cope... even more so.

Wonder if he regrets not going to Charlton Athletic?

I'm starting to wonder if Charlton feel like they have had a narrow escape.

The loss of those two "best" players was hardly in the league of losing Murphy and Harry though. One had potential but rarely showed it, the other was a bog standard lower league defender on big wages. Agree with the rest of your comments S11.

His all persona at the match today was a worry . Heard the bloke is giving the players a miss until Monday morning and not going back to Sheffield with the team

To me he is reflecting on his own future and wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't tender his resignation Next week.

The emotional side , responsibility is too much and I think he realises the mistake he has made . This is not going to work out with a happy ending.

Wilder and the club can still come out of the this with a bit of dignity.

Sadly shot and no were to go .

To be honest Lord Bos, I think Wilder has confidence in his own ability and I am confident he can turn it around. His signings to date have been pretty poor, but he has addressed one of our main problems by signing an experience keeper who has to be an improvement on what we had. With his previous CV, do you seriously think he would walk out after a handful of games ?. After Tuesday nights debacle, he nearly pulled off getting a decent result yesterday, to be let down by another player who is beginning to show some worrying defensive frailties. I would rather hear the things coming out of CW mouth than the crap we had to put up with from our previous manager. It's tough at the moment with results being like they are and our current league position but, I'm sticking by CW.

We are a patient lot as you very well know . it's Wilder who does the ranting , which just rubs off on all .

The players are shell shocked , like us , Wilder , club.

Piss poor players brought in to replace piss poor players , that's the root cause .

If any of that back 4 were the recommendation of the new scout bloke , he wants sacking .

Long way to go before first 3 points .

Glad somebody has mentioned the Scouts, because I have had serious doubts about ours for a number of seasons, God knows what they see that we don't . In need of a serious overhaul.

Freeman may also be on a good contract. Wilder may have thought that we spent far too much on that position. As we didn't manage to get rid of the second choice, Wilder may have deemed it necessary to sell the first choice that there was interest in? Obviously Brayford showing signs of being on the decline also played a part, and who knows, Freeman may have looked better than he thought.

Sounds to me like to he is a yes man, doing what he is told, making out as though we have as good a player in freeman and therefore good business for the club etc, no funds are really freed up if we are paying 2/3 of brayfords wages still.

Does anyone know the details of Brayfords loan to Burton? If they want him they should be paying his wages in full. There are question marks about Freeman but if he played well today then he played well.

you know it's funny watching people get their knickers in a twist about Ched yet seem totally oblivious to the fact that we are directly connected to a regime that funds Wahhabism throughout the world with disastrous consequences

Good point, however Toby Fucking Foster on Radio Pig made a big deal at the time of our 'Saudi connections' re. their yooman rights record. Not a peep about Chansiri and the excellent record of such things in Thailand...

Other 'foreign owners' in English football come from egimes which aren't whiter than white.

But at the moment, I'd accept ISIS and Jihadi John as owners because success makes people forget...

The Prince is a member of the ruling family and a government official. Chansiri is a private citizen. There is a difference.

If McCabe's decision to sack a manager, that's his decision, the financial implications will have been taken into account and that should be treated completely independently. Player sales shouldn't be used to cover it.
Agree from a fans perspective - but unfortunately it's treated as a business and profit and loss all go on the same accounts

I knew that saying what I've said would annoy some fans and what I'm saying is we don't want the ironic cheers for when players don't make mistakes like what George Long received. We can turn up in numbers and back the team. Yes we do that most weeks but also we need to realise that we can't expect to win but we need to do our bit by cheering and chanting as opposed to expecting in silence and then booing when one down etc. Its all as a result of 6 years in this league etc, but it just lifts the opposition. I always love it when our fans chant straight after the opposition score as it jeers up our players and shows them that we don't just cheer when we're winning, which sadly doesn't happen much of late! Hope that makes sense mate?
Totally agree B4 and if I look back 1 or 2 seasons ago I probabley posted something similar when I was more frustrated with the fans than the players and still thought we were going to turn it round. I don't agree with geering players mistakes but I think what's happening is fan by fan the feeling of dispare is taking over. You have a slightly longer fuse maybe.
Here's the rub, football is going through an evolution and we (the club) are not going with it. Clubs like Bournemouth, Brentford et al with money backers are and they will evolve into the new 'big clubs'. We sense this in the stands and sitting at the foot of the third division with a realisation 'it can get worse' and probabley will is causing the fan base to implode. As a fan base we are unique in that I can't think of another club that has fallen this low for so long and continued to maintain 'big club' gates. As part of our evolution we will turn fan on fan. The era of the clapper and the slasher quietly passed away unnoticed a couple of seasons ago, now it's fan on fan and not nice.
The atmosphere at games is toxic, there are nice regular family type people in the stands arguing with each other and with every home defeat and lack lustre performance it gets worse, they can't give it the players so they are turning on each other (as is evident on forums). The era of the much maligned booing is passing away, only a ripple at half time and full time remains but the ironic geering has been born and is growing.
This toxic evaluation will continue and although (I'm guessing) younger supporters like yourself don't believe it can get any worse it can unless something is done other than the owners trying to run it on the cheap and cover their costs. It's a question of diverging objectives, we want PL football with top players and some kind of success. The owners want a club that gives them that BUT generates money. Unfortunately they are not prepared to or are unable to invest with the big boys in case it goes wrong and they lose some of their precious money. Curse me for saying it but look at the shambles the pigs were in, worth nowt, shame of the disaster in the public eye, crackpot owners, fans deserting them, falling down the league. Then along comes one of the richest dolphin killers ing companies in the world and no one is bothered about environmental crimes because their open wallet has positively affected their evolution. As much as it is disgusting to say they will make PL and the success we 'nearly' had and crave in the next few seasons. Our evolution will only be downward unless something changes. Not the manager (Although I think successive managers have gotten worse), not he fans, not the players it's the owners and their methods, objectives and commitment to a new evolution as well as their willingness and/or ability to keep up with the filthy evolution of the beautiful game born out of the PL, Murdock and Scudamore.
There, venteted, feel better. Meh, we're fooked.
