Wilder wants to know what direction the club is going

To be honest I’m more fucked off that it quickly appears that these boardroom shenanigans have fucked up our chance of going up this season, and appear to be pissing off the best manager we have had for years.

Same old shit.

I don't think the boardroom stuff will be helping. Perhaps the players are reading the same stuff as us, and consequently thinking the same stuff as us.

In terms of our chances suffering, I think that Die might have been cast when Coutts got injured.

I agree with your general view, BTL. But what if he's slowly come to the conclusion over the course of this season, that those ambitions cannot currently be achieved due to the general fuckwittery & shithousery of others? And that possibly, from his viewpoint, the chances of achieving it peaked on 1st December last year and are diminishing on monthly basis thereafter? As bigger blade as he is, he's not the type of bloke to waste his time. Also a few million extra, used correctly guarantees the financial safety of you, your children & your children's children.

I'd lose a lot of respect for the guy if he's suddenly become unhappy during this season. In the interview with Giddings, he said that he was targetted with getting the club out of the division last season.....tick. Then this years target was to stay in this division.....tick. When he joined he will have completely understood the financial position of the club. At the beginning of this season, when the budget was set, he will have completely understood the financial position of the club. I doubt very much that this financial position has got significantly worse over the space of the last 6 months so if he's become disillusioned over this period, he's either been promised something he didn't get or is changing his position.

Personally I think it's neither because in the interview he said the January budget was agreed in October and he knew what he'd got to work with, and I can't see him suddenly becoming "billy big bollocks" because he's doing better than everyone expected. So I think there are a lot on here making something out of nothing just because of the odd rumour, or comment we are reading too much into in the true pessimistic blades way.

I'm going to have a rant here.

The thing is, it's the manager's job to make sure that staff continue to do their jobs no matter what is happening in any organisation. I've been managing a team in an organisation who, for the last 8 months, have been fighting against going into administration. Everyone knows that but the whole workforce is stating focused and doing their job professionally. This is no different to what's happening at the Lane and is the responsibility of CW to do what I'm doing with my team - get them to deliver no matter what. And the players need to learn to man up and be professional like my team is.

End of rant and I'll get my tin hat for having the cheek to challenge CW and the boys but I see what we're going through and it really riles me ;).

I can see why he's frustrated, those above messing him around, those below letting him down.

I would imagine he is scouting players for next season, there have been quite a few comments in the past about immediate, short term and long term planning. Hence he needs to know what is happening 'upstairs' at the club.

Looking at Players for the Top end of the Championship, or even PL Level is where, I think McCabe's ambition will come into question.

Gonna need to be fobbing Millions out, he wont / can't do it .......... who knows if the Prince will / or can do it

If by some minor miracle we do go up  - then clearly the money be be easier to release

Well said.

All my experience of management involved implementing policies dictated from above that I had no input into.

It's what managers are paid for and it's exactly what Wilder has said that he's doing.

Not his job to set budgets or demand more unless he wants to put his cash up and buy into the ownership of the business.

Donald Rumsfeld. There are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns — the ones we don't know we don't know.
Don' forget unknown knowns - things we know that we didn't know we knew ! :)

I'm not privy to any more information than the majority on here, but if the JTW budget was agreed in October, that kind of poo poos the idea that we'd take stock of where were were in December & invest accordingly. If budgets had been agreed, I would take that to mean that the money was physically there to spend. Why were we then borrowing money in the back end of December? Why was it basically one in one out with CCV & Wilson? Wasn't Holmes (£400k) budgeted for in August, meaning CW only had circa £1.5m (Evans £750k & Leonard £700k) to spend in the JTW? So basically that says that if we'd been in the shit & bottom of the league and struggling we'd have had the princely sum of £1.5m to save us! Hardly learning from past mistakes & giving us a fair crack of the whip? What happened in relation to the investment agreement in December that commenced the current process?

What's our spend been, excluding fees & wages since we got promoted? £4.25m. That's on the back of £4m worth of sell on's, the sale of Whiteman, increase in ticket sales, increase in sponsorship & increase in TV money. I suspect that CW's current mindset has been arrived since we got promoted and just not since Hull. Every time he sees a glossy architect's impression of a bigger stand we'll never fill or student accommodation that won't help on the pitch or listens to people rabbit on about their ambitions for the club, I suspect he smiles & thinks 'cunts'.

They can of course be 'excluded' as it is a well known fact that the Money Tree takes care of stuff like that.

No, that's information i'm not privy to. If you are please tell me. The transfer fees are findable on the web, that's why i've quoted them. :) For the sake of argument & to keep you happy ISC, double it. The content of my post is still stands.

Well he’s been there, done that, got the tee shirt at Northampton. So nobody is better qualified to get us out of this mess.

That doesn't begin to cover it but everyone conveniently forgets wages.

Take a player like Lenny who cost £750k and is probably on £8k per week. Thats £400k per year before national insurance and pension costs so your probably talking £1.4m for a 3 year deal. So the total cost is more like 3 times the fee in that instance.

I can't answer any of those qustions unfortunately, as I was just repeating what CW said in his interview with Giddings re budgets being agreed in October

Dont forget about the Pesky Agent and his fees

There's parallels in this season with Harry's team in 1990 on and off the field but sadly the one difference being that we were 2nd then and now we're 8th. However, Harry used to have a well chosen outburst and it had the desired effect. Wilder's attitude today reflects that nothing has changed from Friday but he';ll be obviously more up beat if we win tomorrow night and I think we'll certainly be improved from Friday. The players will be equally miffed with their performance and as players they'll be hurt from Friday's comments from Wilder but you always see it from a players point of view as a player - obviously - but they'll get why Wilder was pissed off and want to put it right for their fellow players over anything else.

Off the pitch we had the Sam Hashimi affair in 1990 and we still got promoted then. I think we'll win tomorrow to be honest and the whole atmosphere will be better and we'll push for the play offs still. Friday's results could actually be turning point but we need Brooks fit and that remains a constant frustration.

I also remember when Blackpool got promoted in the play offs, we beat them comfortably at the Lane in about late February and you would have thought that we would make the play offs not Blackpool but it was Blackpool who rallied from then on, to get into the play offs and then win them. I don't see why we can't start a great run from tomorrow on wards. Our recent form hasn't being poor either.

What four wins since November?

No Premiership clubs will come calling for him.

Outside of BDTBL he will be thought of as a decent guy that's done well in the non league and lower divisions but he's never really achieved anything tangible.

Would be far too much of a risk for a Premiership club to take him on knowing that their fans would be completely underwhelmed at such an appointment.

Fortunately for us he's probably already got the best job he could realistically hope for unless he considers a move to the likes of Forest or Boro as career progression.

Nah, bollocks. Needs to go to Hillsborough get them down to at least League Two. That would mean a statue in the Bramall Lane car park. :)

I'm going to put my neck out and say that I wouldn't be surprised if Wilder leaves for a PL side in the summer.

Yes, he's a Blade. But he's achieved his dream of taking over at his hometown side and storming to the championship in his first season.

If he gets support, then he'll want to better that. If he doesn't, I wouldn't blame him thinking "well that was nice, time to move on before the dream turns to shit"...

Straight swap for Mick McCarthy? Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest

You missed out unknown knowns. i.e fuck ups you knew about them but nobody was paying attention and.......boom (like electing Donald Chump)

Frankly I've no idea what's going off but it's striking how many people's default agendas decide their standpoint on this.

Quite possibly, Koz.

As I've said before, us lot can be worse than a sewing circle on here. All we have to go off is a shit defeat and a miserable interview, which obviously equals armageddon. Summet's happening behind the scenes, we know this, but we simply don't know enough about the whole picture to decipher what's really going on.

We'll know a bit more after information from the shareholders meeting on Saturday filters through onto here. A battling performance tonight will certainly make that wait a little shorter. Lose again and it could be a very, very long week.

Over to the players.

Well said that man! Fingers crossed for a result tonight. UTB!

Unusually CW sends Knilly out to do the post match press conference at Reading. He's clearly leaving - was he even there or could he have been having an interview with the Palace chairman after the match??:rolleyes:
