Wilder wants another 4

I've just heard his interview he never mentioned 4

If you add up what he said he wanted it comes to 5 doesn't it? Right-sided centre-back + midfielder + pacy striker + experienced keeper + competition at left-back?

Staton said 4 on his tweet, Wilder mentioned 5 positions.

No need to panic just yet. We basically have a two thirds of a new team trying to settle in and learn how to play with each other to get the best results. Understanding, team shape, and cohesion comes with game time, training sessions and time. It was always gunna be a slow start from Utd. Anyone thinking differently was kiddin themselves. Wildthing is also having to suss out his players and their capabilities in double quick time but he is doing it and recognises our weaknesses unlike previous incumbants in the hot seat. Clough didnt know his best side after a full season whilst i think Adkins had only just learnt how to wipe his own arse by the end of his term at the Lane. Give it 10 games in and hopefully we are hangin in there snd getting slowly better. Once the team clicks and we have rectified a few issues i.e. keeper, we will fly up that table. Suck it up noys and girls it will be bumpy ride to begin with but it will get a lot smoother in time.

Just got home and I am pissed so forgive me, however I have channel 5 on and Gary Smegson said about Blackburn that that the club is on a downer and when players join a club on a downer it already gives them an excuse to be poor.

Leave it there

Some truth in that . Coming to the end of mismanagent and differing style player accumulation. New era under Wilder but still a incomplete fragmented squad with the season started . We have until the end of this month , if not JTW . Wilder is building a rod for his own back unfortunatlety but at least he has the balls and belief to do it and succeed .

We have just got to hang in . Sorry George Long , but a new goalkeeper will lift the club .

Wilder is one of us , but that can hinder not help .

UTB

Early fucking doors. Stop panicking. Our Chris is on the job. We will turn some fuckers over very soon, I guarantee it

Absolutely no evidence of that yesterday, nsb. What makes it worse is that, if you watch The Championship and Goal Rush on Channel 5, every single team you see appears more coherent, fitter and usually has at least one stand-out player. We don't.

And that may be the problem. It's all right saying we need 4, 5, 6 new players on top of the 8 we've already brought in. The problem isn't quantity it's quality. We seem to be spreading the available transfer money too thinly and the result was there for all to see. Wouldn't this money have been better spent on 2 or 3 proven players? I grieve when I see Kieran Agard going to MKD, O'Grady and McFadzean going to fucking Burton.

Be in no doubt, this stagnation we're seeing will cost us dearly in the future. Everybody knew about the gulf between the PL and Championship. There is now a similar gap between the Championship and Div. 3. The game has moved on. United haven't. You've only got to look at Barnsley to see how far we've fallen. They've got Tom Bradshaw, Adam Hammill, Sam Winnall and Conor Hourihane - any one of who would improve us.

Yes, it's only 2 games and on Tuesday we play Southend (bottom of the table). A 'guaranteed 3 points'? No such confidence can be given any more. This is followed by a trip to Millwall (null points) and a stern test at home to Oxford in the fifth game. I think most would agree that last season was pathetic - the lowest League finish since 1982-83. Last season we had 12 points after 5 games. How many points will we have after 5 games this season...?

Other than Crewe though we have not missed chance after chance. People are talking like we have been creating lots and lots. Derby and Bolton I can barely recall an effort on goal in 180 minutes (Done miss header). Today was the same. I am not sure we are creating much (Crewe apart of course).

In terms of the system; I could not see any system so far. What style of football I am not sure there was any? Wilder lambasted them got not getting it forward on Tuesday. They did it at every opportunity today and it led to us creating nothing really. So what does he do know? Tell them to play it shorter?
He wanted us to play it faster. At the pre season games he was constantly shouting "quicker" . You can excuse Bolton as the heat was energy sapping but yesterday we were almost as slow as last season. We do lack that creative spark but at the same time there has to be more movement up top. Whatever Wilder is trying to do even by his own admission on Tuesday they aren't following instructions at the moment. Slightly worrying after 9 games together

Today is very worrying. We looked more like relegation material than promotion potential. Wilder needs to bring in better quality in goal, central defence, a winger and striker - still four more. And McCabe needs to fund this. Today was one of the most dire performances I have witnessed in 55 years of supporting the blades. I believe McCabe is suffocating our football club.

There have been new players brought in and they need to gel, and we need to get more. But what depressed me yesterday was that the tactics seemed to negate any positives. I looked forward to watching Fleck, he must have a stiff neck this morning. We wanted more direct football this season, it's the accepted way to get out of the division, but surely not that direct?

In Wilder, I have faith, in the board, I do not.

There's also some very decent players here, the side is just out of balance. It serves that the strikers won't score as much if we don't have wingers and that any wingers won't supply as much if we don't have anyone winning the ball. Therein lies the problem. For Murphy, Coady and Doyle see...?!?

I don't mind going direct, when it's orchestrated by your midfield and not your defenders.
The way Wilder wants to play puts great responsibly on fullbacks pushing up this didn't happen yesterday very often which leaves you short in midfield Rochdale didn't capitalise on this too often. They had control of midfield which left our
defenders no option but to go long
playing into Rochdale hands.I was hoping to get to halftime at 0-0 alas
Long put paid to that. Bad time to lose a goal as they had control first half and to go in level would have been disappointing for them.We had a go 2nd half but that goal on halftime gave dale a big lift and deflated the players and the fans..
We got bullied in areas of the pitch
( something Wilder said wouldn't happen) . Hussey is doing reasonably well but Brayford "oh dear" he has lost it all no commitment no drive and is really playing like a school boy, I think he needs to go for our and his sakes
he must be the highest paid player
but is contributing very little.
Hero to zero that's what we are getting from him.

Wilder may want 5 but it doesn't mean to say we'll get them in this window which worries me because we desperately need more. GK surely has to be our No.1 priority.

Doc??
Norman??
We can't pass very well can we? That's a big part of the problem. We're losing possession every 2nd or 3rd touch.

At times yesterday Rochdale completely out played us. We could not get the ball off them - they were passing it around us. It was poor from United.

So we've gone from the "pass it to death" style of Adkins to the "only pass it if you really have to" style of Wilder. Deliberate? No of course not. But Wilder has left out good passers and gone with the more forward attacking type players instead. The only thing is though, we have only one tempo to the team. During a game there will be times when we need to push on and other times when we need to ease back and soak up some pressure - capture the ball and retain it. We can't do the latter with that selection of players. There's no one there who can put a foot in the ball and calm things down.

Before he signs any more midfielders he should at least take a closer look at what he already has. Coutts is good in that midfield holding role. We don't have anyone else at the club who is better at it or even good at it.

One poor performance out of three and let's all slit our wrists?! Get a grip for Christ's sake!

Aye, everyone was bloody ecstatic about the way we played Tuesday.

And that one effort we had on target on opening day, magnificent!

In his after match interview he says he wants a Goalkeeper, a centre half, a centre midfielder and a pacy forward
we've been saying this for three years.
but .. at least we have now found 'someone' who has identified the problem. it's thin pickings atm

For someone who seems to be a statistician, claiming everyone looks fitter than us on the basis of a highlights programme is an outrageous shout!

To be fair I thought we got better as the match went on and even our senior players, Sharp for example, were still putting it about at the end of the game.

Coutts is shite.. he is the type of player we have to get rid of.

When the opposition sat back with two banks of four, Clough and Adkins would pass the ball sideways in an attempt to draw the opposition out. Fans went apeshit at this.

Wilder is trying to get the ball forward quicker as an alternative. Not picking on you Cerb, but some people grumbling about the more direct play on here also used to moan about the other way. Of course it needs to be a balance and I think that will come.

We need

1 x GK - experienced
1 X CB Not convinced by Wright as a back-up or the starting CBs
1 x RB to replace Brayford who needs to be sold -
2 X CM one ot replace Basham and another for injuries. one permanent, one on loan
1 X RW Duffy doesn't seem to be able to play 90 minutes. Another young loanee in to come off he bench.
1 x CF - Need a pacy CF in on loan to play alongside Clarke if we play 4-4-2

It's going to be an interesting season without long term loans and we need better players and better depth

Didn't Northampton mix it up last season?
