This is very true though I'd argue our downturn started in 2007, years before I started doing my view from. . I think it goes deeper. When did this forum start?
2005 wasn't it Linz ?

Not sure if you know who James Vince is also the sport that sitwell hates? He's probably still coming to terms with no Baxter in midfield![]()

Just got home and I am pissed so forgive me, however I have channel 5 on and Gary Smegson said about Blackburn that that the club is on a downer and when players join a club on a downer it already gives them an excuse to be poor.
Leave it there
Early fucking doors. Stop panicking. Our Chris is on the job. We will turn some fuckers over very soon, I guarantee it
He wanted us to play it faster. At the pre season games he was constantly shouting "quicker" . You can excuse Bolton as the heat was energy sapping but yesterday we were almost as slow as last season. We do lack that creative spark but at the same time there has to be more movement up top. Whatever Wilder is trying to do even by his own admission on Tuesday they aren't following instructions at the moment. Slightly worrying after 9 games togetherOther than Crewe though we have not missed chance after chance. People are talking like we have been creating lots and lots. Derby and Bolton I can barely recall an effort on goal in 180 minutes (Done miss header). Today was the same. I am not sure we are creating much (Crewe apart of course).
In terms of the system; I could not see any system so far. What style of football I am not sure there was any? Wilder lambasted them got not getting it forward on Tuesday. They did it at every opportunity today and it led to us creating nothing really. So what does he do know? Tell them to play it shorter?
Today is very worrying. We looked more like relegation material than promotion potential. Wilder needs to bring in better quality in goal, central defence, a winger and striker - still four more. And McCabe needs to fund this. Today was one of the most dire performances I have witnessed in 55 years of supporting the blades. I believe McCabe is suffocating our football club.
The way Wilder wants to play puts great responsibly on fullbacks pushing up this didn't happen yesterday very often which leaves you short in midfield Rochdale didn't capitalise on this too often. They had control of midfield which left ourI don't mind going direct, when it's orchestrated by your midfield and not your defenders.
Doc??PACE for goodness sake PACE
We can't pass very well can we? That's a big part of the problem. We're losing possession every 2nd or 3rd touch.Doc??
Norman??
Needs some twat with backbone and bollocks but don't give them to long to hold for you as you know he'll drop umBasically a new spine ..................
One poor performance out of three and let's all slit our wrists?! Get a grip for Christ's sake!
we've been saying this for three years. In his after match interview he says he wants a Goalkeeper, a centre half, a centre midfielder and a pacy forward
Absolutely no evidence of that yesterday, nsb. What makes it worse is that, if you watch The Championship and Goal Rush on Channel 5, every single team you see appears more coherent, fitter and usually has at least one stand-out player. We don't.
And that may be the problem. It's all right saying we need 4, 5, 6 new players on top of the 8 we've already brought in. The problem isn't quantity it's quality. We seem to be spreading the available transfer money too thinly and the result was there for all to see. Wouldn't this money have been better spent on 2 or 3 proven players? I grieve when I see Kieran Agard going to MKD, O'Grady and McFadzean going to fucking Burton.
Be in no doubt, this stagnation we're seeing will cost us dearly in the future. Everybody knew about the gulf between the PL and Championship. There is now a similar gap between the Championship and Div. 3. The game has moved on. United haven't. You've only got to look at Barnsley to see how far we've fallen. They've got Tom Bradshaw, Adam Hammill, Sam Winnall and Conor Hourihane - any one of who would improve us.
Yes, it's only 2 games and on Tuesday we play Southend (bottom of the table). A 'guaranteed 3 points'? No such confidence can be given any more. This is followed by a trip to Millwall (null points) and a stern test at home to Oxford in the fifth game. I think most would agree that last season was pathetic - the lowest League finish since 1982-83. Last season we had 12 points after 5 games. How many points will we have after 5 games this season...?
Coutts is shite.. he is the type of player we have to get rid of.We can't pass very well can we? That's a big part of the problem. We're losing possession every 2nd or 3rd touch.
At times yesterday Rochdale completely out played us. We could not get the ball off them - they were passing it around us. It was poor from United.
So we've gone from the "pass it to death" style of Adkins to the "only pass it if you really have to" style of Wilder. Deliberate? No of course not. But Wilder has left out good passers and gone with the more forward attacking type players instead. The only thing is though, we have only one tempo to the team. During a game there will be times when we need to push on and other times when we need to ease back and soak up some pressure - capture the ball and retain it. We can't do the latter with that selection of players. There's no one there who can put a foot in the ball and calm things down.
Before he signs any more midfielders he should at least take a closer look at what he already has. Coutts is good in that midfield holding role. We don't have anyone else at the club who is better at it or even good at it.

2 poor performances... Crew game was not a good performance. One poor performance out of three and let's all slit our wrists?! Get a grip for Christ's sake!
When the opposition sat back with two banks of four, Clough and Adkins would pass the ball sideways in an attempt to draw the opposition out. Fans went apeshit at this.
Wilder is trying to get the ball forward quicker as an alternative. Not picking on you Cerb, but some people grumbling about the more direct play on here also used to moan about the other way. Of course it needs to be a balance and I think that will come.
