Some might come knocking, but Palace are a car crash. If someone was after making a large and quick buck, then possibly.

Wendies will now be preaching how Carlos has to be top of the wanted list
One of the blokes who sits in my office has just been going on about how Carlos must be wanted by Palace, I asked him why and got the response "well he's one of the best managers in the Championship".

I then asked about Saturdays performance, I said they looked much better this week, he didn't go to the game though so he couldn't tell me, he was at a retail park in York, he's not been this season because they've not been playing very well and he doesn't want to pay extortionate prices for mediocre football.

You couldn't make it up!

As much as I love Wilder, Palace would be taking more of a risk on him saving them from the premier league. Not that I think he would go there anyway. We are swapping places.

I keep repeating myself.

Only a really desperate PL would take a big risk on someone with no experience who is almost unknown.

PL clubs have millions so don't need to take any risks.
Also a big factor in the PL is marketing and sexiness, hence why foreign managers seem to be preferred.
Fortunately for us Wilder is as fashionable as a wet blanket and his cv is relatively poor lacking experience.

If Crystal Palace went after Wilder some of their fans would revolt whilst others would simply laugh.
When we thought he was going to Sunderland most of their fans had never heard of Wilder and were taking the piss out of him.

It's a very similiar to us going after Mark Cooper, the very highly rated young manager who did a fantastic job by getting Forest Green Rovers promoted into the league. How would our fans feel if McCabe said he thought Mark Cooper was the brightest young manager in England and we've done well to get him because he was brilliant in the National League

We've got Wilder for at least 1 more season. If we lose in the play-offs this season playing good football only THEN would Wilder be taken seriously and might tempt a desperate PL club wanting to try the English manager route.

Don't be ridiculous, Cooper has already turned down the massive pigs. We could never ever hope to get someone of his calibre :)

We need the Prince and his board members to get close to Wilder these coming months. They also need to convince Wilder the new board is united and all members back him and his approach for years to come.

Personally I love the Wilder 'old school' approach, it fits S2 and our situation.

I hope the Saudis really understand S2, the McCabes and their representatives , us, Wilder and football generally. I dont just mean now as its easy right now, I mean when we have a lean patch.

I'm nervous without a McCabe or two on the board.

Maybe Wilder could go there for a couple of months, let Knill keep things ticking over here, get sacked, trouser a shitload of cash then come back & bung it in the transfer kitty for January ?

Anyone see the tweets from the Palace chairman on MOD2 last nite, basically saying we need to stick with Frank........................and then

Although they come from that there Laaandon, I like Palace fans. You have to feel sorry for them, sack their manager only to find out Woy is to be appointed.

I'm still looking for the surprise element in that coming, as it does, from a Grunter.

I recently asked a mate who's always banging on about them when he last saw them play. His reply was " I can't remember exactly, but I know David Hirst was playing !

Could be worse. Could be Steve McClaren.

It's usually 'How did Albert Quixall play?'

That's a strange opinion! Wilder has got more football management experience than most, starting at grass roots level and coming up through non league. He's got Oxford promoted back into the league from non league, he's got Northampton promoted from League 2 to League 1 under dire financial circumstances and he's got Sheffield United promoted at the first time of asking from League 1 to the Championship. How can you describe him as having no experience and almost unknown? Bizarre!

Has it not occurred to you that his achievements are significant and he is already being seen as one of the best English managers in the football league?

And his star is still in the ascendancy, unlike the usual motley crew of names bandied about.
