Wilder presser

I think he just wants the season to end so he can ditch half the squad and bring in more accomplished players and have a good pre season, which he indicated is already programmed .
His ability as a Championship manager will be tested in the next 6 months.
His ability to choose a captain with proper leadership qualities will be tested.
I won't be holding my breath.👍

Im a Wilder fan but this made me laugh..

I bet he ends up saying similar about Hjelde as well.

A player who would have likely helped us on Friday see out the match rather than watch Burrows struggle to take the skin off a rice pudding attempting to defend.

I thought the re build he did after the last relegation was one of his best ever achievements, considering how mentally destroyed that team was. But arguably this summer is his biggest challenge yet. Presumably his budget will be significantly reduced, and it's a near certainty we are going to lose some of our most talented players to fund incomings. Hamer being a case in point. Despite the howling miss, we saw the absolute best of what he can do yesterday. Players like him are not easily replaced.
He did have the third biggest budget in the division so achieved what he should have - he won’t have that this summer

The regression had a lot to do with McCallum’s injury followed by Wilder bringing in Hjelde and then deciding that he didn’t trust him.
It’s a bit like the Holding situation last season.

Obviously Wilder sees them train and knows what they’re like, but it seems strange that we have a ready made defensive LB and we’re not using him to see games out.

Even if Holding wasnt training much when he came last season or putting effort it, when he played you could see he was levels about Robbo.

I dont even think it was about match fitness either, he played a 85 min game? And he was pretty much excellent (without showing signs of struggling). Just strange from wilder to stick with his mate and his pet at the time.

You think the narrative of blaming selles and the board a bit lazy and convenient, that is the most stupid comment I have heard on here.

I thought at the time that his injury would have a negative effect on our performances and this has proved to be the case.

Prior to him getting it , I thought he had a number of excellent games and had really settled in to his role , both defensively and going forward.

The return of Burrows has brought about the situation we have come to expect from him - a few good moments in most games coupled with a propensity for giving his opposing wingers acres of space to work in and a lack of ability to put in good blocks or tackles .

Yes he may think that inwardly (as most of us do) but he's basically said he doesn't rate 2/3rds of the squad or consider them even good enough to even hold a 3-1 lead v an average Swansea side.

Said they aren't good enough.

Not sure that's great man management myself?

He now has to try and move most of them on but be a hard task.

We have a hugely bloated squad currently but have accumulated some absolute garbage.

The loans will go back, Hoever, Bindon, Hjelde, Ogbene, Phillips, Soumare = 6

He will lose out of contract players...Davies x 2, Mee, Riedewald, Ings = 5

So 11 off the books

Leaving us around 28-30 players including youngsters.

You'd expect Hamer and one or two of Brooks/Peck/Seriki to go.

Meaning we have around 25 left including Faxon, Baptiste, Blacker, Marsh & One (5 young players) but over half of the remainder 20 are absolute dross and he needs to somehow offload a large number of the below.

Grbic, Shackleton, Norrington Davies, Curtis, Zatterstrom, McGuiness, Matos, Chong, Ukaki, Nwachukwu, Rothwell, Cannon/Campbell = 12

All under contract. Least half on longer than a year more!

He will do well to find takers for even half of them.

We aren't going to have much wriggle room at all and will have to be very creative.

Assuming Cooper, Seriki, Burrows, McCallum, Blaster, maybe one of Peck/Brooks, O Hare, Bamford, Cannon or Campbell remain = that is around 8-9 players.

It really does show you how much work needs to be done.
Dear God the names in there make me shudder.
Seven years of PL or Parachutes and that's what we've got ?
And a field in Dore.
And virtually no profit on any players we've sold.
But of course , in order to trade players successfully , you have to buy them when they're on their upward trajectory.
Not on their way down.
And don't be too reliant on old farts on big salaries.
My goodness , this last seven years has been just about the biggest wasted opportunity in my 60 years a Blade.
We've had the £ and thrown it away.

And there are fans who question whether a change of regime & structure is necessary.
Just incredible.

Why is Zatterstrom getting lumped in with all the crap players?

I can't recall him playing a game.

It might be a circular argument of course, as if he was any good he'd be playing. but let's not condemn him before we've even seen him play.
I thought we'd sold him ?

I've not watched a Wilder post match interview in ages, is it still "fine margins" separating us?!
His deep nasal breath in, zip's up the tracky top and stares the interviewer out.

'Games of football'
'The football club'
'It's not the tactics'
'It's individual errors'

'Not me Guv'

Rinse and repeat. Just like his team.

Great post…. Yeah our legacy for circa £500 million is a field in Dore, pitch upgrades at the trg ground, new perimeter ad boards, a big ad board outside the ground, hotel reopening & a fanzone…….. hardly a good return on £500 million. We have wasted so much.

I thought we'd sold him ?
We're both right. He's on loan to Genoa with an option to buy.

And according to Wiki he's never played a game.

Watch him be the next Van Dijk............

The assertion that the additional revenue we had in the PL is just ‘free cash’ still amazes me.

The wage bill at least doubles as a result of promotion, that’s most of the £100m spoken for already. Then you have to buy better players to play there. That’s the rest gone.

We didn’t have oodles of spare cash sat around.

The only criticism from me is that we spent the additional revenue on wages and transfer fees on players who didn’t give us a chance of staying up (first Wilder PL season aside).

The replacement of the whole infrastructure of the club needs more than a season or 2 in the PL to fund it.
