Results are only viewable after voting.
Because some people look beyond the results, especially when those results are against the worst teams in the league and we still haven’t looked convincing in most of them.

What happens at the end of the season when the loans go back, the contracts expire and our best players are a year closer to their contracts running down? Do you really trust the person that’s brought in the likes of Shackleton, Campbell, Choudhary, Diaz etc… to rebuild this squad for the 4th year in a row?

We’re a club things happen too, constantly reacting to easily foreseeable events and always on the back foot, bemoaning our luck. Nothing is ever challenged to stress tested because getting on the wrong side of King Cwissy is the quickest way to find yourself out of a job.

I want us to behave like a modern football club and not be dependant on the wavering abilities of a single person, a person that has a chequered history of accepting responsibility for all the things they’ve got wrong. For this to happen wilder and his ilk need to move on.
Yeah but if you post that you want and expect that we could do better than we are, perversely you’re told that you’re not a Big Enough Blade.

I see RandomBlade was at it again last night trying to wind people up on this thread, he thinks he is defending Wilder somehow, but the reality is he is just bumping a Wilder out thread 🤣 what a 💩 for brains.

Whichever side of the fence you are on, he’s taking/dragging us away from the relegation zone. A few weeks ago that would have been the most important point. Are there still problems? Obviously yes, but the issues run throughout the club. There’s no quick fix to the dead weight signings we have in the squad which will prove further issues if there will be a genuine attempt at a play off place. Currently CW has improved things on the pitch let’s hope the obvious suspects on the playing side - some of whom really can’t be defended - don’t scupper that.

As for the board, January will need them to step up.

Though many said the same about Michael Skubala last season and neither the team he left or the team he joined are pulling up any trees this season.

Would we be happier in the position of Bristol City or Lincoln City?
If the metric is must be a success after 14 matches', a lot of very good managers would be a failure.

Lincoln, a club that traditionally plays in the 4th tier are playing in the 2nd tier, they'll be delighted with 15 points from 14 matches. They also didn't choose to lose Skubala

If BC win their game in hand, they'll have 21 points from 14 matches. Wilder's teams have taken 22 from 14 in 2 consecutive seasons

I'm not 100% sure what point you are trying to make?

Be careful. He’s switched from threatening violence to threatening to use M’Learned friends. Apparently l’ve defermed him…….

Lincoln are a perfect example of why a robust structure at a club is so important. They’ve lost a talismanic manager and their best player and have carried on regardless. For the resources they’ve got a point a game is fantastic and their on track to avoid the drop, despite Championship heavyweights like Derby, Preston etc.. struggling.

Hard to imagine any team other than Preston, Derby and Charlton being relegated unless Watford don't improve, Burnley surely have to get better but with their debt issues they could have a fire sale.

I think Burnley are screwed.

they're fucked either way. Look how losing parachutes has affected us and Burnley are an order of magnitude in more trouble that we are. The biggest issue is I can't see anyone in that squad recovering the money they'd need to keep the bailiffs out.

All relegation does is bring forward their demise. I don't normally look forward to a club ceasing to exist but I make exceptions for Wednesday and Burnley.

By the time we've played Watford we'll have had a run of 7 games playing teams currently in 10th, 15th, 17th, 19th, 20th, 23rd, 24th. 1 team above 15th

Then it's a run against 6th, 8th, 11th, 13th, 22nd, 5th, 1st. 1 team below 13th

By Boxing Day, we'll know what this team is
Mediocre as that's putting it mildly. Mid table finish and hopefully start to rebuild and get rid of the deadwood next season or January if possible.

How many clubs aren’t basket cases though? There are a handful of established Premier League sides outside the big 6 that seem to have found the formula (Brentford, Brighton), the rest spend big for little return, get relegated, nearly go bust. And you can’t be referencing any championship clubs because most are in a mess, and clearly mid table anonymity in this league isn’t good enough, because that could be what we are and what is annoying you.

Has Tom ever made a post without a rhetorical question?

I don't know has he?

I prefer celebrating our first milestone achievement since 2019, Billy Sharps hat trick, rather than join the social media feeding frenzy of how this could somehow provide ammunition for sacking our manager.

Whilst on the subject though apparently we are the most improved club in the championship, since the international break, on combined xG.

Rubbish, Wilder out.

What have palace done that we couldn’t? Or Fulham? Or Bournemouth? Or Leeds? Or Sunderland? None have these have invested ludicrous money, about the same as us over a 5 year period, but their return on the investment is a world apart from us because they’ve done it smartly and not on the managers vanity picks.

If we’re supposed to be happy with being a middling team that occasionally flirts with the playoffs by grinding out atrocious football to watch then what’s the point? There has to be something to look forward to and strive towards.

Are you familiar with the concept of strength of schedule? The only team we've played in the top half of the table since the international break is Portsmouth, which we lost.

Ive not done the maths but if we beat teams below us for the rest of the season , given that the league position improves each week as a result that would probably see us promoted.

Yep its a crazy thought 😜

No team with Tanganga, Kitching, Burrows, Seriki, Cooper, Peck, Kalvin Phillips and Bamford should be talking about survival or acting like 8th is some impossible achievement.

Fair play to Wilder, it finally looks like he's turned a corner. I genuinely think if that Wrexham game had been a shocker he could have been on his way. He looked under some serious pressure in that pre-match presser.

But there's no need to get so high or so low. He doesn't need to be constantly having a go at the fans either. The fans have every right to point out that the majority of this season has been awful.

95% of our fanbase, myself included, love Wilder, but when he starts with the whole "I made this club" stuff and acting like nobody can criticise him, it's not for me.

I'm glad things are looking better and 4 points from the next 2 games could put us in a really good position.

I've said all along this squad is more than good enough to be one of the best sides outside the top 3 or 4. There's some serious quality in this team and we should be looking up, not worrying about survival.

Just wish Wilder would cut out the negativity sometimes. Nobody is against him, we all want him to do well, but that doesn't mean fans can't call out poor performances when we've been watching them most of the season.

“I made this club”.

When and where did that happen?

Another stay of execution.

A slightly better performance in patches.

Still completely unorganised in defence.

Still playing a CM at RB, having other RB who he brought in on big wages.

Are you @AnstonBlade1’s sister? Eeyore and Piglet?

Interesting that you've now changed stance to a stay of execution.
I'm sure one defeat will change that even if we don't lose for many a game.

Look one day it will be time to change or him to leave. When that is I can't say for sure. Could be before the season end could be much further down the road. Everything should be measured.

Performances have been better than slightly better in patches. I think that is not enough credit overall for the past 5. Arguably Derby was the worst of the past 5 all things considered.

Can't disagree about some of these defensive lapses and what not last night both goals are very avoidable. We should have taken more of our attacking play though into chances and goals. Could easily have scored 5 with better decision making.

Think at right back realistically that position is Seriki's. Doherty hasn't worked out fitness wise.
But had Seriki not picked up the injury just as Doherty was also put injured I don't think we would have signed Choudhury.

Surprised with the side, year advantage they have, that they are as bad as we were this time last year points wise 👀

I wish I could like this more than once. Our whole structure needs modernising, it’s 15 years out of date. If there’s a place for Wilder in that and one he is happy to work in then great, but the club can’t sit on it’s hands another 5 years if Wilder wants to retain full control of everything.

Let Wilder coach, pick the best side and plan the tactics to out think his opposite number. But let someone else focus on stopping us sleepwalking down the same road we did between 2007-2011 of loading up the squad with highly paid players with little to no resale value and no longer term squad planning.

I do think that this whole modernization does get slightly blown out of proportion. Only because it can't be that over immediate league position or future. It has to be both progression.

However we absolutely do need to modernize at the same time. We all know this.

For me it's irrespective of any manager. Moving things forward has to happen. And Wilder needs to work with it and understand that.

It's largely scouting and recruiting to start with. With the training facilities a known quantity that we are looking at.

A director of football isn't the be all or end all either. Having football people in positions though is. Above the manager that is.

Are you familiar with the concept of strength of schedule?

How did this concept work when Wilder came back after Selles had left us bottom of the league last season, even below Wendy.
Surely this concept implies that we shouldn't have been able to get any points, as all the other teams were above us.
Therefore we should have been relegated.

Palace has the advantage of location. They’ve mined the south London goldmine and recruited wisely. We haven’t got the same catchment.

Fulham and Sunderland look to be in real trouble this season despite both investing hugely in their playing squads this season and last.

Bournemouth pains me. They got lucky getting promoted back to the top flight during COVID but since then they’re an absolute shining example of how to build a squad, possibly even more so than Brighton. Every major sale has been for full value and of a player they’ve already replaced.

The other point that shouldn’t be overlooked is that none of those teams is absolutely and utterly reliant on their first team manager for everything from recruitment to training to tactics.

Congratulations on comprehensively demolishing a claim nobody made.

wilder and his ilk need to move on.
We're four points off an automatic spot and twelve clear of relegation. We have zero parachute payments, no money and we sold our three best players in the summer. Sacking Wilder and his team would cost a fortune, leaving very little left to spend in the JTW.

Given these circumstances which out of work manager would you bring in who you think would do better?

It’s already been stated that neither Seriki or Doherty are fit to start yet but don’t let that cloud your hatred

Quite.
Every team which is top is crap because they're top because they've only played teams beneath them.

Three creative players at that. It's not like it was one striker, a defender or a keeper but a whole creative framework!

Most sensible comment so far thank you

Congratulations on comprehensively demolishing a claim nobody made.

So a team above the bottom three, should automatically beat a team in the bottom three?

Just checking, because if we fail to beat Charlton some will be saying so.

We should be, because of where they are due to the 'concept of strength of schedule' (copyright DKC), If we win - Wilder has drawn another lucky card ?

A few weeks ago Swansea, in second place at the time, lost 5-0 to QPR, (Far lower in the table) so QPR were on the ascendency?

The following week QPR lost 4-1 to Southampton.

Where was the 'concept of strength of schedule' then?

Yet no one has made this claim.

Personally I'm looking forward to the challenge of meeting teams above us, that's the whole point of supporting a club.

Win, loose or draw.
