I'm really not sure I believe that any more. We all know the main issues are in the board room and he's not been backed as he would have liked but I'm genuinely baffled by the squad building. He has had money to spend and we will be paying the likes of Choudhury, Rothwell, Riederweld, BBD and Kitching a decent wage. Of the 11 yesterday, Wilder brought in every player other than Tanganga who's he made captain. Despite the loss of the 3 key players, he can't say this isn't his squad. Only the O'Hare sale has blindsided him so I'm really not sure how we've ended up with such an unbalanced squad.
I was hoping we’d be recruiting from the lower and even non-league for fresh, fit players to compliment the young un’s coming through here but Wilder has rested on his laurels and aging contacts to bring in what he believes to be the ‘safe option’.

I’d take a guess and suggest his circle of scouts/friends/contacts in the game has diminished.

I think that was a big part of Wilder mk1.

The damage is already done. It was done when Wilder produced the worst bottlejob of a season I’ve ever seen. He needed to go and we needed these yank twats to put in an actual capable manager. They fucked that up beyond royally and chose to further cripple us by spunking millions and millions on useless shite.

This is going to be a long painful disaster of a season. I can’t see three other teams finishing below us with this squad and management, no faith in him keeping us up with this style of play and tactical incompetence. He’s become a truly dreadful manager. It’s sad but we’ve left it way too long now, we’ve waited until we had some serious, serious chancers at the very top with no inkling of football nouse. We are in the worst shape I’ve seen for a long time. We aren’t coming back from this anytime soon with these owners or manager at the club.

I can't understand how wilder can look at the sh*t show team he's assembled and feels anything but shame. The treatment of certain players as they're not his players. I've said before he just needs to go. Is no one at the club acting as a critical friend and suggesting ayew may be a tipping point? Is he so powerful no one can question the team, tactics or is he just milking 'his' club for what it's worth.

Surely at this point we may as well start playing the younger players already at the club. Is marsh really a lesser option than ayew, baptiste must be worth a shot? Id rather go down with hope for the future. Then again I'd hate wilder to pollute the younger players with his pashun & philosophy. Has he got any other daughters to marry off, it's becoming all a bit game of thrones 😂

That first CW team would smash this lot to bits every day and twice on Sunday without a problem.

We haven't seen that mark of a 'proper Sheffield united performance' that he used to reference in years.

Chris's heyday. This is now painful to watch

Agreed.

I actually think Chris' L1 promotion team would spank this bunch of twats that we have at the minute.

His 2 Championship teams would absolutely destroy them for sure.

The problem is that he has build virtually this whole team now so the blame lies with him. He has prioritised "past it journeymen" over the "young potential that could come good" that was once the backbone of our success.

Where are the JOC's, Duffy's, Baldock's etc that cost fuck all but turned out to be absolute legends?

Jamie Hoyland seems to be an absolute waste of space. Paul Mitchell used to have a superb strike rate compared to this clown we have now.

It's all just an absolute shitshow and I hate to say it but this season is reminding me of the relegation under Micky Adams (after 3 other managers had vacated).

Every word of that !

He should be sacked alone for bringing back Phillips, Choudhury and Brereton-Diaz and showing that there is zero scouting going on. His biggest target who he wasted all summer to sign was another "ex-lad" Souttar (who I would have welcomed back), and one of his first signings was a player he'd let go in Riedewald.

It must be a breeze being a Sheffield United scout.

"Hi Chris. I'm going to take in some League One matches this month to see if there's anyone worth signing in January."

"It's all good thanks. I'm waiting to see if Egan might be surplus to requirements at Hull. If he's not then we'll look at someone else."

I'm at the Saints v Swansea game and Southampton are lightyears ahead of us.

Not watching the Blades game but this tells me enough:

Blackburn are a terrible side and we can't get the ball.

Wilder HAS to go

Sounded like we played shit again but a nice 3 points!

Obviously its worse than this time last season under Selles (0 points compared to 9) when we were heading to L1.

No style of play apart from hoof and hope. Pace and power players is all this club can ask for just to try something new. Owners need to invest in the scouting team.

One of those wins we've properly blagged, plenty of issues in style & tactics, but a useful 3 points against a poor side

Good to see CW take the applause, now get him to stay out there with his players when the sun isn't shining.

Sunday is a big test.
