So a team above the bottom three, should automatically beat a team in the bottom three?

Just checking, because if we fail to beat Charlton some will be saying so.

We should be, because of where they are due to the 'concept of strength of schedule' (copyright DKC), If we win - Wilder has drawn another lucky card ?

A few weeks ago Swansea, in second place at the time, lost 5-0 to QPR, (Far lower in the table) so QPR were on the ascendency?

The following week QPR lost 4-1 to Southampton.

Where was the 'concept of strength of schedule' then?

Yet no one has made this claim.

Personally I'm looking forward to the challenge of meeting teams above us, that's the whole point of supporting a club.

Win, loose or draw.

You have a tendency to reduce an argument to the smallest sample sizes, at least based on your posts on this thread.

Average position of the 7 teams since the last break and including the next 2 is 18th. Average of the next 7 is 9th. The point being continuously made is that united are particularly strong against the worse teams, particularly weak against the better teams. The run up to Boxing Day is an opportunity to change that.

But 16 points from the last 30 matches against top half teams says it's unlikely.

Whilst on the subject of 'concepts' in football one of the most often quoted is that of the new manager 'bounce', one which many on this thread seem to place hope in.

Watford have had 13 managers in the last ten years.

Currently 11 places below us.

Middlesbrough have had had 12 different managers. - currently top.

Apologies for the small sample size.

Preston and Burnley also seem to be struggling for the 'bounce' as have Wendy with 14 managers.

Maybe like the the above named clubs we should aim to celebrate the number of new managers we have appointed rather than the Pecktacular hat trick from last night.

This feels like a strawman. Nobody sane is suggesting changing managers guarantees success. The 'new manager bounce' is a short-term phenomenon, not a claim that managerial turnover inevitably improves a team's fortunes.

Comparing managerial churn and current league positions tells us very little about whether a bounce exists. It's a different argument entirely.

Sados on here waiting for our next loss 🤣 🤣 🤣

The last time we got rid of wilder and replaced him we didnt exactly get a bounce 🤣🤣

Maybe Bounce is Spanish for useless?

Replacing Wilder was always a gamble but it wasn't automatically doomed to failure. A good hire and competent transfer dealings and last season looks a lot different.

What United need is to commit to something that has a plan involved that looks longer han just getting to the next transfer window. We can all argue what that should look like but I think we can all agree, stumbling from summer to summer, resetting every year is going to end badly.

I see crap Wrexham have just gone 2 up against the league leaders with 5 mins to go...there are no easy games in this league and whoever you play wherever they are in the table will make life difficult. Its time we stopped all this wilder out crap and got back behind him and the team...changing the manager now could be suicide just like it was before...wilder clearly knows what he's doing and is getting things sorted out.

It's not clear to me mate, or some of the players seemingly, more often than not.

It's natural I'd argue, for some football fans to want to witness enjoyable games.

I'm not in the "a win's a win brigade and look forward to watching talent being developed and encouraged, over an excess of experience that's past their sell by.

I wouldn't be surprised if the players are as confused as some of us fans.

They don't look like they're enjoying themselves often enough,so moments like last night for Peck and the effect on his team-mates was a joy.

And a perfect opportunity to go for the jugular.

We didn't and that's the difference between us, who have moments, but aren't consistent enough, and don't look capable of reaching the autos.

Not that I want to be in the Prem next season watching us get pumped.

We need a whole new philosophy top to bottom to make that a worthwhile venture for me personally.

So I disagree that wanting a new manager is unreasonable thinking for fans that are fed up of being gaslit by a bloke who summed us up last night as "Outstanding"

It doesn't help when you have Jimmy the apologist trying to justify the "Outstanding" comment despite disagreeing with him.

So those fans who can't think for themselves, follow the general consensus, incapable of making a reasoned argument, and critisise counter arguments with little debate. Not always, but often enough.

It's not disloyal to want to see a club you've watched for 60 years start being a proper club built on solid principles and not managed by some archaic pisspot overreaching for past glories that are consigned to history.

If he had any loyalty himself he would recognise his ineptitude and step away before ruining his legendary status.

It's a bit too convenient we have fuckwits at the helm, reliant on too little experience and savvy ,to know when they're being played.

Getting a "Pint out of a half pint Pot" can only take you so far.

We wasted the opportunity last time around.

What do you see now that tells you it would be different if by some miracle we got into the Prem🤔👍
