Wilder, Knoll and Mitchell -New contracts surely.

Wanting sound financial decisions is not a middle ground approach, whatever that means. It's what every Blade has been crying out for for years and which hasn't happened until this season. Spending big with Robson didn't win a trophy did it?

We need to hold on to Wilder but ten years? The only time it happened here was under Reg. As I said, a financial disaster.

I have no idea of the monies that would tempt CW away. I'd like to think that he's here for the long term but what if a top ten club comes in for him? I'd guess and it is obviously a guess, ambition would be the biggest temptation.

I hope and dream he could lead us back to the PL but I still wouldn't put a noose around the clubs neck in case it goes horribly wrong.

You thought Weir and Clough were the dogs as appointments. Rather than just pooh pooh other opinions you might think about how wrong you were on both counts, even anointing NC as "Mr Sheffield United" and championing his "Dynasty" along with Brannigan and Simon, who you now denigrate as just a "newsagent". Similarly with Dearden and Barlow. You aren't known for getting it right, more fir your hindsight.

And I am playing the post, pointing out that it's a bit daft, for several reasons.

Our debate was going so well Sean. Kick off now anyway.

Nearly a ' Shark Attack' , in fact it is just that , but no fuss this time. You are not playing the post though.

We should have given Weird a 10 year contract at least. Just imagine how much transition we'd be doing by now.

I am. You take the position that you are right. Full stop. It's an opinion, nothing more. In my opinion, ive stated why I think it's not a sensible move. You carry on without any thought to other opinions so ive pointed out you don't have much of a track record with this sort of thing and so maybe be a bit more inclined to actually consider others opinions. Especially when, yet again, I don't see many agreeing with you.

How about the effect on the clubs finances if it happens and it quickly goes pear shaped? Will it be another sharp u turn?

On to his ignore list now. He just wanted to 'set up' his "troll" one last time.

That is an entirely valid opinion and a 'middle ground approach' which will never win trophies unless Wilder is totally without ego and doesn't worry about money or worship money.

Personally I think Wilder could just value being in S2 more than another say 100k a year, but what if it's 300k a year on a 3 year contract?

(No need to take the figures literally Sean.)

Honestly Sean, what you are saying is just not so. Look at that post quote again.

SHARK ATTACK HELP!

That's over with now , please revive the thread, normal service resumed, it was a really good thread., plenty mileage left in it.

I never left the thread. We disagree. I told you why I thought it wasn't the brightest idea, as did others. You've not put forward any answers to several posters reasons other than you believe it to be sensible. Then you played the victim again which rather hides the fact that yet again you're in a minority when it comes to your thoughts.

Remember there was almost a meltdown on here just a few games ago despite our league position. Would you have started this thread then? If you have this strong belief, why not?

My God you're up yourself.
It was a really good thread???
Like the Good old days one??

Only because YOU started them.
Insufferable bore.
You have absolutely no idea how forums work. Whatsoever.

I've grown up Sean.

My opinion with CW, Knill and Mitchel will practice what they preach.

All contract talks on hold until the Summer. No silly contracts to be given out on silly money. For players and management.

And i 100% think CW will do exactly that.... He seems a man of great integrity and love for the club.......

Wasn't Alan Pardew on a 10 year contract? That didn't go so well when he started losing a few games. In such a fickle game and in a club where we have probably paid more years up recently than we have actually had the managers in the post I would say no.

A sensible approach would always be 3 year contract with an option for the club to extend for another 2/3 years at the end. I assume that we have the sense to insert fees and compensation clauses should other clubs come sniffing but given our track record maybe we haven't as it's not been an issue in the past (Speed is the exception).

Managers contracts are fundamentally and totally different to players contracts yet football deals with them in many simillar ways. Managers seldom have value to the employer whereas a player can make a fortune for his club on resale.
I would see a managers contract being performance related with no compensation,(paying up his contract) if sacked for underperforming. Fuck knows how much we've spunked away on paying off shit managers over the last decade.
No reason a manager can't be paid a win bonus which might encourage more adventurous football. At the moment a manager can toddle along drawing a salary and underachieving knowing if the bullet arrives it comes with a big fat cheque. That alone is ridiculous in the extreme.

The LMA doesn't allow this kind of contract though, if you try and tie a manager into a contract with no compensation for poor performance they jump up and down until you remove the clause. I agree that it should be the case but sadly it won't happen anytime soon.

10 year contact is ridiculous. However I do think we should offer them a new improved contract. (Only once promotion is sorted)

1. To reward the management team for the success
2. To fend off other interest
3. If someone comes in for them at least we can achieve some good compensation.

Unfortunately, a 10 year contract guarantees fk all

A fall out, a sacking, a big club comes calling and it's all over regardless

Knowing how CW operates in terms of honesty and realism, the way to tackle contract negotiations is to be fair with him financially and otherwise and I think he would accept that. A deal that suits both CW and the club is what needs to be done and I don't think that means 10 years

Get him on a week to week contract with a big payday for a win and fuckall for losing.

He doesn't get many decisions right, suggesting McC makes another decision is utter madness.

Nowthen sbtattoo, I know a really poor, over-emotional post when I read one.

Rather than just ignore it , I'd love you to tell me how "a f forum works" and what I don't get "whatsoever".

Why don't you just chill when I post? Chill and find posters more entertaining and thought provoking rather than " insufferably boring". This is a massive forum, enough room for both you and me without silly nonsense, not often, just every now and again, but this one looks hateful.

Don't hold back tatts, I'm all ears for guidance. Never too late to learn.

That's all well and good unless you want a quality manager who can call the shots or go elsewhere.

You're way beyond that pal. You're convinced you're some kind of oracle,a font of knowledge. You have a hissy fit everytime your blatherings are exposed.
You're the ultimate Emporers New Clothes.
And the funniest thing of all is not only can't you see it you flounce off (as if anyone could care less),then come strutting back and play the big I am all over again.
Pathetic pal.
Grow up.

CW job for life now. I'm happeh.
Well said prince.
Interesting thread.
I think @seanbeanstatoo got banned eventually.
