Never going to happen. OK Stoke have parachute payments but we're about the same size as them or even bigger and I'd imagine Stoke will be back to an average second tier club once its been a couple of seasons or so since their relegation. They are arguably back to average right now being in mid table, and will stay as such if they get their next managerial appointments wrong while still having the parachute payments coming in.

Why would he leave his boyhood club that are right in the promotion race for a club that are mid table, it would effectively be a sideways move for him?

Not that I'm taking CW for granted but I think while ever we're in the Championship no other Championship club will be able to lure him away from us unless we fail to gain promotion this season and in the subsequent seasons less and less funds are provided making it harder than it already is, and/or if he were to fall out with the owners because the club being held back by them (which would be understandable).

You'd have thought that Stoke would've gone for old Rotherham favourite more more more.

Stoke’s owner is one of the richest about isn’t he?

We're a bigger club than Stoke. Their attendances before the prem were never great - though they have good loyal hardcore.. Pretty much anyone can get 25k plus in the prem. They will be lucky to get 12k in a few years. They're just a trumped up Hull.

Lucky for them and Bournemouth , Burnley etc that attendances don't matter so much these days.

Doubt Wilder will leave until the summer at which point he will go to a Champ club if the ownership isn't sorted.

According to the Mail online. Moyes favourite but he's not thought to want to manage in the Championship. It is believed that work has started to see if Wilder can be lured from his boyhood club.

Don't shoot the messenger!

First five words of the thread were enough for me - If the Mail online says its true......

Only way he leaves us if the ship is sinking and he feels he can’t do anything about it. 3rd in the League having made 2 decent signings. I think not
