Should Chris Wilder to stay in charge of Sheffield United for the 2025/2026 season?

  • Yes

  • No

  • Had a great season considering where we were last season, give him a couple months next season

  • Agree to disagree

  • Haven’t really thought about it right now, just pissed off about the final

If and a big if he stays he needs to freshen up the staff. Knilly needs to retire. Need someone to challenge Wilder. A younger assistant with some newer ideas.
The defensive approach worked until Souttar left. The problem was that at the point we should have signed a good replacement or changed to a more attacking style of play, of which we are capable of doing.

I voted no and I don’t think I’d have voted any differently if we’d have won.

On paper, it has been an excellent season and turnaround after the embarrassment of the year before. Although I do wonder if such an ‘embarrassment’ will be viewed as strongly, given the same thing has just happened to the last 3 promoted teams.

Nevertheless, he rebuilt the squad and managed a 90 point season, only to be beaten against the run of play in the final. Hard to argue he should be sacked.

It not just him, I feel the whole coaching set up needs replacing to achieve the next level and avoid that embarrassment most promoted clubs will experience.

I just feel that if he stays (which I think he will) results like that final will occur more regularly next season, whereas we seem to have got through a lot of games this season by holding on/luck.

We did sign a decent replacement, then proceeded to play Jack Robinson instead.

Oddly, had we gone, and if it transpired that we had quite a substantial amount of money to spend... I'd have probably understood a change in direction.

As it is, for the Championship, I don't think there's a better man for this specific job.
There are so many positives and lessons to learn from this season and I think he will understand that.

I don't think we'll be as strong next season, but maybe another top six finish and another trip to Wembley 🙃.
We've probably seen the last of Anel, Hamer, Souza and possibly even Cooper & Peck.
So it's another rebuild, on lower revenue. I think Wilder will already know what's needed.

Sorry. But for a lot of us, that might be the last chance we get to see United win at Wembley. We threw it away in the 2nd half, cowardice and undid all the great work in the first.

Sick of one dimensional football
Every player linked with having a name like Jimmy, Tom or Dave.
Petulant bollocks
Cowardice

Fuck off.

He didn’t seem to know we needed a replacement for Souttar or that Cannon didn’t really fit our system. Plus much more recently BBD should never have got on the pitch.

possibly so but he must have felt Robinson was doing enough to keep his place
Despite a good proportion of supporters seeing something different.

His limitations were shown yesterday, look at how their forwards pressed when Robinson had the ball compared with anyone else, it was calculated to put pressure on him because he’s shite with the ball at his feet. He also should have tackled Mayenda instead of showing him the top corner.

The Poll is rubbish - if you add "yes" ""had a great season give him longer" and "Haven't really thought about it now"

That adds up to 54% - it should just be a Yes or No. Most fans would say this as Chris, Alan and Jack are the best men to get us promoted

For me the January window was terrible & that is on Wilder. It’s been stated before & most fans said it at Xmas as soon as Souttar was injured - the priority was another strong leader at CH. Wilder failed to take that seriously and chose to trust Robinson. Shocking decision that cost us in 2nd half of the season.

I love what Chris did in his first spell & he also did a great job last summer with rebuilding, but January proved again that his judgement is really poor at times. Eg…Cannon & then not wanting to play Holding. Just crazy

Obviously not, 1 nil up in a play off final and they conspired to lose. Well clear of Burnley in the table and conspired to finish 3rd.

Wilder's problem is he and his tactics give the opposition hope to get something from a game even when they are a goal behind....example Plymouth away.

The two teams that got auto promotion very very rarely gave opposition any hope when they were a goal down usually the single goal was doubled or trebled.

I think it’s already very clear he’s not going anywhere.

So we now need to hope for some miracles to happen over the next month and Wilder change everything.

That’s not going to happen though, next year will ultimately end in fail once again and we will no doubt be further stuck in a cult of personality around Wilder somehow making it even less likely then that he leaves.

If anyone feels like doing it, a poll of out of work ( decent) managers/ coaches 😁😁😁

Wilder will not change or learn any lessons he will play his favourits just to try and prove he is right Lundstram, Robinson, Brewster, Canon, BBD even if it means they play out of position it's all about Chris rather than SUFC. There is a reason half the country hate the bloke always something or someone else to blame when it goes wrong. We didn't lose yesterday due to VAR it was shit tactics of sitting on a one goal lead. Then there is Wilders drunken off field antics which are bringing embarrassment to the club, if the owners read this forum and social media the majority of fans want shut of Wilder hopefully they make it happen. Get rid.

I think it's a really difficult one to call.

Even if Wilder goes, by choice or not, anybody coming in is going to struggle to break our points total of this season.

That said, it's almost certain that there's going to be a level of rebuild this summer, and do you want Wilder leading that rebuilding operation?

My preference would be for a fresh start, and let somebody else manage that rebuilding.

So, we’re not confident of beating this season’s points total with a new manager but let’s replace one of the most successful points per game managers in Championship history anyway?

We don’t need a major rebuild but I do want Wilder leading this summer’s recruitment because he’s been generally outstanding in that department. Under the new owners he has less authority but is still held responsible by many fans for every decision.

I’m not saying he’s faultless but some of the reasons being given for sacking him are just bizarre. We need to be very careful what we wish for. Finding a better manager than Chris Wilder for Sheffield United will be very, very difficult.

I can see your point as well, don't take me wrong.

I think not many people could sit here and confidently say that next season we will get more points whether Wilder is the manager or not.

It's all about individual opinions and preferences, and I just think it's time for a change.

Who are we going to get who would do better?
We achieved an incredible points total for someone who according to many "experts" has no Plan B and only plays his favourites.
So can one of you haters give the name of a manager who is available or who we could get and who we could afford, who YOU can guarantee will do a better job next season than CW.
Because I don't see anyone.

Hope that's not directed at me, as I'm definitely not a hater of Wilder. I've got massive respect for the job he's done, but I can have that respect and appreciation for the past and still want a change.

I don't immediately know who we could/should get to replace him, but that's for the club to figure out.

It's directed at anyone who thinks we should replace him, including you if you want him gone.

Ok that's fair enough.

Wanting Wilder to go doesn't make me or anybody else a hater though.

I don't dislike Wilder, and certainly don't hate him.

We can agree to disagree, but saying that people are haters just for wanting a change is an interesting take on it.
