Would make no difference if there was a change in manager.....STILL the same set of players !!
But is he getting the best out of them? A good manager picks a formation to suit what he has at his disposal, not shoe horning them into playing out of position in unfamiliar roles. A good manager picks tactics which encourages players to play with instinct and to play their natural game, not force them to always do x, y and z which can cause confusion. As I've said elsewhere, you don't ask Ryan Giggs to play like David Beckham and you don't ask David Beckham to play like Ryan Giggs.

I don't think we have the best squad by any means, but I think Wilder's total control of the club is holding us back. He makes all decisions including on the pitch where players are very clearly being told to always do x, y and z, hence the needless and pointless side and back passes to "keep possession." He only takes the shackles off when we're losing and the clock is wearing down, at which point we actually start to resemble a football team and start to threaten opponents, but it's regularly becoming too little, too late.

I honestly believe that a better coach, not manager, could get a better tune out of these players by letting them play with instinct. Off the ball they do need drilling more, but in attacking play it's not difficult to work out that if you pass the ball ahead of a player running into space then you open up teams and drag players out of position. Ours just stand there like Subbuteo players waiting for the ball to come to them. It's slow, predictable, laborious and ineffective. Wilder is too obsessed with winning to allow players to make their own decisions.

The biggest issue is who the board would choose to replace him. The main thing Wilder has going in his favour is the club is currently set up to fail. We'd not just be looking for a new coach like other clubs, we'd be looking for an 80s style manager who does almost everything. There's not many of them about, let alone good ones.

After listening to Rosen’s interview I am more hopeful that they’ve learned their lessons on this. Not saying they’ll get it right but he did acknowledge their mistakes.

They’re successful in their other areas of work, so hopefully they can apply that here.

My biggest concern from the interview though was that they seem wedded to Wilder to a point of blind faith, which I don’t think is healthy.

I think the owners recognise this and are trying to move away from it (Rosen alluded to as much in 'The Interview'). It's a massive issue, not only for the club but also, it has to be making Wilders job more difficult. He's spread too thin. A more robust, devolved structure would allow him and any new manager to focus on the job they're meant to be doing, instead or rowing, cooking, navigating and repairing the nets, all at the same time.

What’s happened to us as a fan base ? We are so passive about the going on . We must be the worst at physically demonstrating our dissatisfaction with the club. Only Danny Wilson hiring and the Robson out event has happened . Let’s get some form of protest going

They added more people to the advisory board early this year with more sporting experience, including someone ex-Barcelona (I’m assuming this is where the adidas and fanatics link has come from). I’ve got a bit of confidence they’ve learned from their mistakes and are doing things slowly this time rather than getting carried away, which is probably why Wilder has been getting arsey lately because he’s all about the now. You can see it’s grinding him that he’s not been listened too as much, he clearly wanted Souttar and it was veto’d by someone and there was the infamous ‘two in by chesterfield’ that never materialised. Speaking to people at the club it sounds like he was going hell for leather to get Jack Clarke as well which feels very optimistic.

I voted in only because this isn’t the time to attract people to the job
Sadly its stick not twist … for now

Keep

Keep the same
The thing is if we find ourselves sat on 12 points going into the break there won’t be any serious grounds for calling for Wilder’s head other than personal animosity.

Given the shit-show sumner (yet again) and the state of the owners that would be a decent tally.

Results will dictate whether he stays or goes.

I think after yesterday's shambolic presser he's on increasingly borrowed time

Fuck up today and I reckon he's gone sooner rather than later

I intentionally voted get rid, regardless of today performance, based on what was said yesterday

There are numerous reasons as to why it is what it is right now but I don’t see any scenario where Wilders approach to building a squad won’t and isn’t holding us back

He isn’t going to change and fair enough if he wants to go down that road but it’s not going to change

Maybe it won’t change regardless if you try another approach, maybe Foot or Kinnock would not have changed much if they had gotten in but that doesnt mean voting Thatcher back in was the best thing either

I’m looking forward to this fresh start, funded by absolutely no money or budget. No doubt absentee owners currently in multiple disputes with the spectre of a points deduction (unlikely though it is) will see top candidates falling over themselves. Opportunity of the century. 🙂
This is exactly the predicament we are in but I am at the point where if we don’t go for it then the decline will continue so, reluctantly it’s Wilder out for me.

Surely we can just claim that the 40% voting out is a majority in the same way that Wendy celebrated a 0-0 at our place as a win.

Do you think that votes on a social media platform actually have an effect in the real world?
Remembering back to the Brexit vote / debate.
Agree, votes are fun but completely unrepresentative. I voted out.

Totally get this perspective- a really difficult decision given that, despite all the many negatives, we know he is more likely than many to keep us up. Unfortunately I now think that this approach is prolonging the agony.

We’re skint, and the horror show of his replacement last time, and the awful mess we’re in means he’s going nowhere, the brief wouid be to keep us up. The owners will not do anything unless we find ourselves in the bottom 3 and desperate. So all this chat is futile. For what it’s worth we desperately need a new direction, but as things stand I wouldn't trust the owners, and we’re just gonna have to accept it until they’ve gone or seriously take a different strategy and build a proper footballing structure for the club.

So because we won't take a risk, we just let the rot fester and develop?

If the owners have anything about them he should be sacked after today’s game regardless of result, the performances are enough to know it’s only going to end one way. Give a new manager 3 full weeks to COACH this team. I’m not writing another season off and giving him another transfer window to sign old, injured journeymen.

Wilder shaggers when they see the poll numbers:

Wilder haters frothing at the mouth and enjoying the Stoke offside winner because it gives them even more ammunition. That’s not defending Wilder but just showing how having him sacked is more important than a result

The we in question isn't the supporters, it's the owners. After last summers attempt at change they will be shitting themselves at the two possible choices, stick or twist. I think everyone of our fans have no faith in them regarding how to properly run a football club. Then there's also the cost of paying off/ new manager.
