Wilder done deal (apparently)

He could get b if many other clubs approached him. He has built the squad, it shouldn’t be absolutely pointless. Worst case, he’s given no money. He will need to be self sufficient. He has assets he can sell and reallocate funds. Many league managers have to sell to buy. That’s part of management.

I'm sat in my garden. I fancy a cold beer. Stupidly I spent last months budget on a guitar and I didn't buy that outside fridge and beer cooler for my outside pavilion. The cold beer is in the fridge in the kitchen some 60 yards away. My daughter is on her way in to get some lemonade. As she passes, do I (a) Say, hold on my love, take the weight of your feet, I'll go and get my beer and your lemonade or (b) lay back on my lounger and say, when your'e in there bring me a beer back. I chose (b) because that is easier for me and further it is human nature. I'd rather "manage" with 20 million budget and a fat salary than struggle on £4million and a 500k salary.

Alan Nixon saying on Twitter that Sunderland are going for Lee Johnson not Wilder.

I know his ITK record is mixed so take this however you like.

Edit: sorry lads, just noticed he was talking about West Brom.

At least Bristol City fans will be in a party mood today then!

Smokescreen. Typical false news diversionary tactics from the spinmeister :D

And if he joins Sunderland and fails like all the rest, where does he go next?

And if he stays at United he could have a mid table finish at best. Where does that get him?

I love Wilder for what he has done for United and I wouldn’t hold it against him if he chased the money. He can’t take us any further without the backing he needs so why not look after himself, his kids and grandkids by taking a big pay rise?

It’s typical United, we get a manager that can take us places and we don’t have the money to back him. When we’ve had money we’ve given it to the likes of Robson and Clough to waste!

That's plausible. I've never bought into the Wilder cult and this makes me aware there are quite a few options out there for an ambitious club.

Apologies mate, see my edit. Nixon was talking about WBA. I dropped a bollock.

No problem Stretch, your point does illustrate there are other up-and-coming managers on the market besides Wilder. There's also Neil Harris and Darren Moore whose stock has risen appreciably this season.

Agree totally Danny. I hope that my belief that it's all bollocks is right but if he leaves at the first sign of a bit of adversity, then I would always appreciate the 2 great years he gave us, but I'd lose all respect for him. It would put all this "my dream job at my club" up there with players kissing the badge.

I just pray it'sall bollocks.

I suppose we can only hope he's trying to get the co-owners to start communicating with him more about the situation rather than him wanting to leave for what would probably be a much bigger salary. If he is seeking a bigger salary then on the one hand you can't blame him (because who doesn't want more money?) but on the other hand it goes against his philosophy of wanting all personnel here to be giving their all for the club rather than just picking up a big pay cheque.

But at the same time his efforts when speaking to the media might all be in vain anyway, as both co-owners have probably been advised to keep their mouths shut during the legal process so they can't really say anything to CW anyway. Hell of a frustrating situation for everybody associated with SUFC.

And there's the Lincoln lads. Used to working with little money............

Yep, good shout. And they've just renewed their contracts to deal with the job in hand despite being linked with Champ clubs.

In Northumberland and I was chatting to a mackem in tbe pub last night. He reckons their parachute payments will cover wages of tbe existing dross, so money for the 'big push will have to come from the new owners. A bloke who barely keeps Oxford going, isn't going to cut it without some stupid rich mates.

As others have said, Repsol are a global conglomerate with a legal and acquisitions team to match. Why they would want to get involved with a penny millionaire to buy an English third tier club, needs some explaining.

Are there major undiscovered oil reserves under the Stadium of Shite?

Plenty of Coal built on Wearmouth Colliery maybe they're going to mine it again:D

I can only ask you Blade. What would you do if you were in your dream job at your boyhood club. This man was at Wrexham supporting United in the supporters stand in an obscure cup on a rainy night when he was a player out injured, many years ago. I know, I was sat near him. His best mates eat and drink United. Say no more.

If he does go for money then I for one would not blame him. So many cynics on here. It makes any sort of loyalty look daft.

Said it elsewhere, if Wilder jumps ship we are 10x worse off than anyone can imagine.

Things are really bad if Wilder leaves.

Who the fuck would take over this poison chalice if he went ? no-one any good that's for sure, unless we got lucky.

This will definitely be McCabes "finest hour" if he pulls this fuck-up off

Indeed it would be a balls up and very typical but I think we would be a more attractive proposition than many give us credit for. I think there would be a queue of managers who would be interested. The quality of the candidates in that queue would be open to question but we wouldn't have any shortage of interest. Many managers have worked under worst circumstances and with less money in the past.

Hope you're right but i'm not so sure. If Wilder did go, i bet he'd take the likes of Fleck, O'Connell & Baldock etc with him :(

If CW did take our best players with him it would provide the new manager with a good amount of money to invest in his players???

Lol
Would provide McCabe with a return on his investment.
Had this been planned ?

True, that is a possibility but then again if he is going to Sunderland and this mega budget that some seem to think he would have then he is just as likely to buy in from elsewhere.

Who says Sunderland has a massive budget? They are saddled with Rodwell at 70k per week.

Nixon shared earlier that the Norwich boss will sell Oliveira to finance team building.

I wonder if he thinks it’s unfair and he will resign?

Possibly they do, possibly they don't. If we are to believe what they say then the debts are cleared and he has a massive budget.

If he does go, I'm thinking we could do a lot worse than give it to Alan Knill , possibly with Jack Lester as his assistant.

The former knows the players , the way we play and what the fans are looking for. The latter may not have cut it as a manager but is well thought of as a a coach apparently. - and he's a Blade.

Just a thought.

I think Alan Knill will follow Wilder to Sunderland, if it does happen.

I would be happy with Knill but as bibbity bobbity boo says, he would probably follow Wlder

Assistant Manager in the pub league as against Manager in the Championship ?

I'm not so sure . If it were me, the latter would be a no brainer.

Sunderland stuff Wolves. We'll have their caretaker manager Stockdale.
