Wilder done deal (apparently)

Far be it for me to poo poo another’s rumour, but why would Repsol, a multi billion pound company, need to form a consortium fronted by an insurance salesman whose claim to fame is owning Eastleigh, to purchase a club that has been touted about for a few years?

Best wishes to you and mrs crab mate. Thinking of you.

Cheers mate. I know you have been through your own stuff, I trust all is ok and going in the right direction?

But he WILL say it's about ambition etc. Nobody ever states that it's about cold hard cash. I adore Wilder for what he's done but he'll never be honest enough to say it's about cold hard cash.

The "public" thing will include things like "ambition". But your dead right, nobody in their right mind would come out and say it's all about someone else offering more bunce.

The trouble is, in order to be consistant, I'd personally have to apply the Warnock Rules. After all, I loved Colin until 2005 when his greed overruled any affiliation he claimed to have for the club.
I've always thought the world of Chris Wilder, but this would be another illusion shattered if he was just like anyone else. I should be older and wiser by now but there you go.

The older we get, the less life gives and the more it takes away. Maybe we should be older and wiser but we aren't are we? Deep down we still have faith that certain things we've always believed in still hold true, and when we find out that's not the case we lose a little bit of our old self. Enjoy life's pleasures and know there are things you have to come to terms with............

One day the DFS Sale will end, you will miss it when it's gone.

A pre packed sandwich will always disappoint.

"Fun size" chocolate bars are nothing of the sort. Have you ever met a woman who thinks any fun is to be had from something about 3 inches long?

When you get on a plane, the nearest place you can put your hand luggage will be about 6 aisles down, and your seat will get kicked mercilessly.

The seat kicking will also be at the Cinema, along with people who can't go without a snack for two hours eating their crap at a decibel level that will make you beg for the peace and quiet of a 747 at full thrust. The trailers will last an hour, but you can get your own back on Munchy McMunch by loudly humming the Pearl & Dean tune.

The office workplace will be riddled with Machiavellian Twats who turn into your best mate when they are collecting for someones birthday, or it's Christmas Party time. Despite them claiming to be intellectual, none of them will know who Machiavelli was, they will think he was on Britain's Got (no obvious) Talent.

No matter how small a gap you leave to the car in front, a twat in a leased beemer or a silly cow in a car with four wheel drive that she'll never ever need, will fill that gap. They will never thank you for letting them in. A single flash of an indicator is what you will get if you're really lucky. That flash doesn't mean turn left, it means "I'm a twat and my life is so much more important and busier than yours, so the extra car length I've gained is life threateningly important".

I don’t mind wilder leaving for a better job, but leaving for Sunderland

If he did this he’s no blade to me. Yes yes there is board room shit, but don’t kiss our badge again and don’t come back when it goes tits up, because it will.

But if the poor form continues at the start of next season, being a blade will mean fuck all when Wilder’s out of a job.

Just ask Micky Adams!

Think he will go after today . Anyone watching the lap of appreciation video he was very emotional in front of the kop wiping his eyes several times. Was this because he knew he won't see that again next season.

Asked a pal (that used to play for wilder many moons ago and is still in touch ) the question, "duz tha think wilder will stay pal?". His reply was straight to the point "Heard he's already gone". Went on to say he'd messaged him but had no reply, however said that's the talk amongst players and staff. Can't see how any deals done elsewhere yet, but that still doesn't stop him walking out at 3pm and sorting the next step tonight . What will be shall be.

I was told Friday that he will be resigning after the game today but that it's West Brom that have tapped him up.

Hope it's all bollocks, but the guy who told me has been spot on with info before.

Soon find out.

up in north yorkshire for the weekend and a guy from Sunderland who saw me and my lads in blades tops has just asked what the manager is like. He claims to be in the know and says that Wilder is resigning after the game tomorrow and has already done the deal to move to Sunderland. He was very sure of himself and apologised as he walked off. Hope that’s bolx
I hope you told him he is crap , and not to bother!

From what I gather the current owner will be clearing all debts for the new owners. So he’ll have a parachute payment as budget, plus whatever they want to put in, so potentially an astronomical budget for league 1. A fair bit will be spent on severing ties with some of the current overpaid dross they have,

In Northumberland and I was chatting to a mackem in tbe pub last night. He reckons their parachute payments will cover wages of tbe existing dross, so money for the 'big push will have to come from the new owners. A bloke who barely keeps Oxford going, isn't going to cut it without some stupid rich mates.

As others have said, Repsol are a global conglomerate with a legal and acquisitions team to match. Why they would want to get involved with a penny millionaire to buy an English third tier club, needs some explaining.

Are there major undiscovered oil reserves under the Stadium of Shite?

This isn’t the move for Chris.

He took the Oxford job, a club in the Conference whose natural position was at least one league higher up.

He went to Northampton in the same league to go to a club with backing at a point to get them one league higher up.

He went to United, a club sitting below their natural level to go to a club with backing of sorts, wage bill, to take them one league higher.

There is no doubt his stock has continued to rise or that Sunderland are below their natural level but he’s never felt a need to drop a division to advance himself.

Anyone of the relegated PL clubs could fancy Wilder.

In a year’s time, he could be a PL manager. If he goes to Sunderland at best he will be a newly promoted manager from League One.

He was already that in June 2017. Why would he move to be no further forward by June 2019 if he wants his career to progress?

There’s no need for him to make such a move right now.

Unless you (a) know it is pointless staying from a football perspective and/or (b) you fancy a large wedge.

He could get b if many other clubs approached him. He has built the squad, it shouldn’t be absolutely pointless. Worst case, he’s given no money. He will need to be self sufficient. He has assets he can sell and reallocate funds. Many league managers have to sell to buy. That’s part of management.

Made me quite sad reading that. I spoke to a 40 year old Russian the other day. He said life is strange, you spend the first half of your life destroying yourself, then the other half trying to undo all the damage.

I can very much relate to that fuerstenberger

If he does leave, then so be it, there will be other managers, good and bad, CW has done a great job and deserves the plaudits for it.

What will irk me the most, is that we lose our best manager in a while to a club in the league below, irrespective of their history, ground size, average gate etc.. they are still a club who have performed terribly on and off the pitch for a while, so for them to be more of an attractive prospect than us is laughable.

wilder not going anywhere
for at least another season. the board have got to sort there differences one way or another , but there is going to be funds for wilder to get in some quality.
source from him who knows him the best

Taken from blades mad !!! It's all speculation, and there's only one man who stated all this doubt and needs to stop it by stating what's he is doing , don't get me wrong I want him to stay , but if he does go we need to move on and get a new man in charge and move on , one things for sure this Doubt is no good for anyone .

And if he joins Sunderland and fails like all the rest, where does he go next?

This post is very confusing

Sunderland would be a massive risk, they have all the hallmarks of being stuck for 6 years as we were.

I understand his frustrations, the board are being nothing but useless currently but ride it out, see what comes of it, Sunderland isn't the answer.

I think he’s paving his way to exit to be honest. He’s been linked with some good jobs lately and let’s be honest he’s only human, a managers stock isn’t high for long.

His biggest headache will be leaving the club in a way that doesn’t overshadow his achievements and that doesn’t upset fans...he couldn’t have a better reason than the two owners at logger heads and not sharing his ambition. That’s why I can’t see him being at the club next season!

IF this is true then he's a bit of a hypocrite, he says he's ambitious and wants to go forward yet he might be prepared to go down a division to L1. I can see it from his point of view about the board but at the end of the day there is no guarantee it will work out at Sunderland the grass isn't always greener, they're new owners aren't they so no one knows what they're going to be like from the beginning. Apparently he's good friends with the potential new owner but again that still doesn't mean to say everything will run smooth between manager and board level.

If he hasn't got the mental strength to tough it out here for a while when enduring a bit of adversity then maybe we're better off without him. At a medium to big sized football club like ours things will never be rosy all of the time, you go through ups and downs as it's part and parcel of football and life in general.
Agree totally Danny. I hope that my belief that it's all bollocks is right but if he leaves at the first sign of a bit of adversity, then I would always appreciate the 2 great years he gave us, but I'd lose all respect for him. It would put all this "my dream job at my club" up there with players kissing the badge.

I just pray it'sall bollocks.

Can't see WBA not giving Darren Moore the job long term. He's done a fantastic job and should be rewarded.

He's earnt a crack at it whatever happens to them.

What intrigues me is would it be a bad thing to have a guy like Van Winkle in charge and loads of young Belgian tallent in the side? Bit like garlic bread syndrome.

We have set the foundations to really kick on. If Wilder leaves it's 50/50 What will happen. If he stays I think it's 70/30 chance of continued success
