Did he say “I fucked up with the team selection”?
If he didn’t say something along those lines then he wasn’t very honest.
HB, this is a general observation suggested by your comments, so please bear this in mind when reading.
I take your point about team selection, but it seems to be the case that comments are made after the game and not before. It would add far more to the piquancy that is contained within your post if I'd read your feelings before the game began. As supporters of course we have the right to criticise, but aren't we all masters of the obvious once a game has finished?
The general tone once the team selection was announced was one of pleasure, especially considering Fleck's absence. Quite a few posters were happy to finally see Clarke and Donaldson together, and a few commented that Lundstram's presence would be ideal against a physical Ranger's side.
This part isn't directed towards you HB, but hindsight is a wonderful gift, but hardly any of us can imagine how a game will span out, let alone consider mistakes or errors. Since Wilder took control we've done fantastically well. One defeat, and please remember this wasn't a conclusive defeat, is exactly what it is. It's times like this that Chris and Alan will earn their money, and you can bet your half and half scarf that everything will be done to correct what went wrong.
Like most of us, I can't recall a better time to be a Blade. The quality of management is better than anything I've witnessed before, and the recruitment of players has been first class. Yet we suffer one loss and for some it means nothing less than the Inquisition is good enough! Maybe some people just don't deal with drama too well....or perhaps they prefer to turn drama into a crisis?
Wilder is too canny, too knowing, and won't tolerate complacency or excuses to cloud the issues that need addressing. We'll be fine, maybe this is the kick up the arse the team needs to remind it of what's needed. Please don't anyone overreact, it doesn't help and it's not what's required.
