Wilder eluded to this interview when we signed Berge.. suggested that there is a change of approach and we would know more next week (2 weeks back) looking forward to this, put it on in the car..

Is it the full interview? I’ve noticed that the BBC interviews seem to be shortened the. Went in bladesplayer and realised that they have the full length interviews, that said I don’t see this on there

It’s about 22 minutes long

As if an indication of the consistency of our approach you could listen to their one last summer back-to-back with this one now and they almost run into each other seamlessly. The principals remain the same – thinking short, medium and long term, having a clear check on the wages and fees we’re prepared to pay, the desire to build a legacy with the Prem cash etc. I’m guessing re: the fees, the Ipswich centre-back is the one that we walked away from because of the rapid increase in numbers talked about.

These have been really good, open, reassuring interviews with the pair of them. By all accounts we’ve used some of the cash in January that we’d earmarked in the summer in order to jump ahead of other clubs interested in Berge. But then depending on where we finish there might be more cash that comes in.

Great thing is that we are buying young players. Moose, Oli McB and Zander are all under 23. Calum just 25. Better than buying a bunch of over the hill players wanting their final big pay off.

Everyone should take the time to listen to the 22 minute version, really excellent interview, sounds like we are being properly run on solid based strategies and forward thinking

Think I might listen to it again!

According to sufc site you supposed to be able to access the blades player app by searching for FLi player in App Store then accessing the specific SUFC page. My Apple App Store does not have FLi player.
Any ideas how I can access the blades player?

Apparently Stephen Bettis is a massive asset for SU....heard really good things about him....he has a brilliant relationship with Wilder too.

“Look Catherine, I don’t know why you’re finding this difficult to understand – just don’t bother with the letter to him, we don’t need to do that, and just go ahead and knock Stephen off the payroll instead.”

So many positives to draw from the interview, some of my personal favourites:

  • We have a firm wage structure to ensure harmony amongst the squad.
  • A new building is being built at shirecliffe in order for us to compete with other PL teams.
  • Wilder implies he's here for the long term.
  • Both he and Bettis continue to operate in a shrewd fashion, as if the money was their own - mentioned the word 'legacy'
  • The scouting is heavily based in statistics and the use of video analysis, ensuring we don't need hundreds of scouts across the globe.
  • The club will continue to make signings like the Berge one: potential assets to the club who have plenty of years left in them and potential resale value
  • There is plenty of money to strengthen the team in the summer, even with the obligation to purchase the properties.
  • Contract talks are going to ramp up now a hectic January is over. Players to be rewarded for their efforts
  • Both Wilder and Bettis feel they are trusted by the board an PA to make the right decisions regarding recruitment. They also imply they trust the board and PA in return.

What a time to be a blade.

I think I have got something in my eyes after listening to that, there both running !

Am I right in saying Wilder said "I'm not just here for a year or two" ??

10:05 mark

You’re right, but as a fan base we seem un pick anything negative and ignore anything positive.
can’t understand why some of us look for reasons why he should leave. He’s got the chance to build a legacy here and become a legend, why would he walk away from that just to join the managerial merry go round.
