Watched highlights in hotel after game and someone said that their new manager would have "MILLIONS" to spend on the JTW. Something wrong somewhere when we will only have thousands to spend. By the way Blades attendance last night over 1200 not 1066 which must have been a slip as there attendance was 12066.
People going on about how easy this game would be seem to forget that they'd only lost 1 out of the last 9 games at home, and that they'd spent nearly 30 million in the past 3 seasons. No wonder Tufty must pull his hair out when he has to haggle with McScrooge and our invisible co owner.

As ive posted earlier all their players had more pace and strength than ours which is what some on here were crying out for
Maybe their not the most important traits in a player

Hate to keep banging on about it but "McScrooge" doesn't have £30m to spend.

Hardly his fault that he's not as cash rich as some of our supporters would like him to be is it?

Maybe he should sell some of his assets to fund our promotion push, and we could all join in by selling our houses to support him?

They looked an very feeble side. Worst side we've played this season?

The Prince has a bit of bunse though doesn’t he? If McCabe doesn’t have the cash to fund us then why doesn’t he sell us to someone who has??

This is one of the never ending discussions on here, which will never go away. Money obviously doesn’t buy success, it can help but it won’t automatically push a Chris Wilder managed team to the top of the Championship table. Jesus, we are already third, though you wouldn’t have believed that if you logged in to the twats thread, sorry I meant Shoutbox, yesterday evening.
It seems like everyone would be happier if we had spent £10m each on; Billy, Norwood, O’Connell etc as then it would show more commitment by the board. Instead they cost peanuts. Anyone seen where Pigs, Stoke, Villa are? Yes, below us and debt to their eyeballs.
I have so much pride watching this team and in a way hope they don’t go up. Wish the Premier League would fuck right off so winning the Championship is the main goal

CW was backed with bids for Waghorn and Hogan... both over 5m, plus 4m on Egan and 1.75m on Norwood.

Waghorn and Hogan were players that CW wanted, but didn't want to pay silly money for and look how its turned out, neither are setting the division on fire. I feel like CW is adequately backed for what we have at our disposal and also gets to bid for players that he wants to bring in within a budget he's seemingly ok with, so don't worry....

Granted it's not 30 million, but 30m over 3 seasons in the championship is 10 million a season, roughly what our budget is this season.

[QUOTE="SwissBlade, post: 1868357, member: Worst side we've played this season?[/QUOTE]

Now come on give them some respect, they at least tried to get near our goal on a few occasions and strung a few passes together when they had the ball. Better than the massive for sure.

Edit: :( I broke my quote

Sure? It was given as 1,066 officially in a 12,066 crowd

Thought Reading were neat and tidy up to the last third then ran out of ideas, no shots on target is an indicator why they are bottom three.

Noticed Blades defence getting a fair number of blocks around the box, putting bodies in the way.

Freudian slip. When I went for my ticket they had sold over 1150. No big deal but sounds better. Think they have enough quality not to stay up. Wonder how many Pigs were at the Sty yesterday? Nowhere near 20000.

NO NO NO NO NO NO HE HASN'T. IT'S BEEN DONE TO DEATH. HE'S GOT LESS THAN MCCABE.

It's only a matter of time before a Championship chairman offers Wilder & his staff a treble your wage offer to get his club promoted. It's clear to see that he will get a team out of this league with funds. I just wish it would be us........
It still could be!

I think Wilder will walk in the summer though if he isn’t backed in Jan to get the targets he wants/needs or at the very least gets assurances that substantial funds will be made available in summer to finish the job next season.

I hope it doesn’t come to that because if we can’t back this guy then I don’t see much future for the club under anyone else.

Wilder is right when he says we need to push on now. He was sold short last season when we caught most people by surprise with the quality of our football. I don’t think the Board expected us to compete as well as that. This season there’s no excuse really not to push the boat out a bit and add a few players in Jan to get us over the line.

It would help if we had one owner rather than two though.

When we were in league one. And before Wilder McScrouge couldn’t wait to get out he’s rolled the dice and spent his money that he wanted to on United.
Basically saying enough is enough. But now he sees his chance to get some of his money back. Not saying he doesn’t want United to prosper , but he wants McCabe inc to prosper first and foremost.
Bye the way I’m not saying the Prince is any difference , but perhaps he deserves a shot.

Keep repeating this but Wilders track record at this level is very short lived.
Why would any ambitious Chairmsan take a risk, most tend to go for the tried and tested who’s achieved or a foreign name.
Fortunately for us PL clubs and big clubs in the Championship are not likely to be interested in CW just yet.

Also why is it clear he will get a team promoted with funds?
He had funds last January and was given every target but most of his targets struggled.
Let’s not go over board and wait and see.

Wilder only has to lose 2 or 3 games and according to most on here he’s crap, win a few and he’s the best manager in the league.
The truth lies somewhere in between, he’s doing a great job but it’s very early days.

Keep repeating this too.

What does “push the boat out” mean?

Is it sound 7 or 8 million?
Because that figure will probably bring in only decent players.
The market is likely to be crazy and top quality players will likely cost nearer 15 million.
Don’t think there’s a cat in hells chance we’ll smash our transfer record with a 10 million signing never mind 15 million.

Think Wilder has a good point that this season appears to be unique in that there are plenty of good teams in this division but no outstanding teams. We only need to improve our performances 20% and we’ll probably win the league.

Agree. It has to be top players on loan for me, or, take a punt on a good player from lower leagues. The lad Jack Marriott for example. He could have been within budget this time last year.

How many houses has KM sold to fund the club?

I hope the Chairman of Prem clubs see it as you do, for our sake.

Wilder IS tried and tested. Above and beyond most managers in the football league. He's one of a very few to actually start right at the bottom, with grass roots football, and work his way up into the professional leagues and show constant progression, even in extremely difficult circumstances.

Now, if you're a Prem League Chairman looking for someone who's won a title or a Cup with a bigger club, in some foreign land maybe, then Wilder's not your man, I totally agree. But do you not think that Chairmen in the Prem will now be looking at the likes of Wilder and thinking.."Hmm! that lad's got something about him. Has got teams promoted wherever he's been - consistently over the last decade - gets his teams playing good football - and has shown he can do it on a shoestring". I think they most definitely will.

I think the likes of your Man City's and Arsenal's and Chelsea's will always want to go for the big international name. But there's a lot of other Prem clubs - the majority actually - who would view Wilder as a real asset. He's take a team languishing in League 1 for 6 years, got them promoted at the first attempt (and by some margin - 100 points) and then taken them close to the play offs in his first season and currently in the top 3 this season - on a shoestring. I think that, plus what he's achieved elsewhere before - is plenty of evidence to force someone to open a cheque book and take a gamble on him.

I think he'll end up at a middlin Prem club soon. I hope it's us!

Most of the succsessful teams have an owner that’s got a few quid. We’ve got 2 that have f**k all between them. And still going strong.

All fair points and of course you could be correct.
However taking a risk on management talent in the lower divisions rarely happens anymore.
Let’s assume Wilder leaves us and we appoint the Lincoln or Forest Green Rovers managers.
Do you think our fans will be doing cart wheels? Doubt it,
We’d say that the Cowley Brothers and Mark Cooper might be brilliant in league 2 but what relevance is that to the Championship.

Let’s not forget Wilder has no experience of managing foreign players, no experience of managing big egos.
No experience of having money, no experience of being a coach (hes always been the manager in charge of everything).
He’s hardly any experience in the top 2 divisions, no experience of massive pressure and massive media attention.
In fact although Wilders CV is fantastic in the lower divisions and non league, his experience has little relevance to the Premier league.

It might sound silly but “sexiness” is now the fashion at the top level.
Hence an owner will go for a big name (Gerrard or Lampard) or a foreign coach with an exotic sounding name.
It’s hardly going to excite any fans if their club was to appoint this straight talking abrasive Chris Wilder with the Yorkshire accent.
It would be “Chris who, which team did he play for? Never heard of him”.
