Why we need it to be Sunderland

He did a good job at Derby
i thought that until i ended up rewatching that semi final highlights as they were on last week. in hindsight that team Lampard had i say he underachieved. Keogh, Tomori, Bogle, Lawrence, Mount, Wilson. that was a star studded team. i think 4 of them went on to play in the champions league

As someone touched on above, in fairness to him it was his very first job in management, so he was unlikely to do much better while he was still learning. Derby fans still speak very highly of him.

Quite mad that 4 went to the Champions League and the other 2 ended up in a police station following a drink driving case 😂

Purely because if it’s Coventry they’ll have overcome 2-1 first leg loss and all momentum and belief will be with them despite our 6-0 agg scoreline.

Our two legs were routine and not really a test, if Coventry go to a sold out SOL and win the tie they’ll be revved right up. I fear that more than Sunderland.
I'd rather play Coventry, no debate.

We beat them comfortably and Wilder seems to have Frankie boy sussed - Sunderland on the other hand gave us two good games, we could easily have come away with 0 points from the two fixtures.

Overcoming a 2-1 deficit isn't a big deal IMO, end of the day they still have to go there and score regardless to progress.

I think the media have caused it.
The constant labelling of his teams as "Frank Lampard's [Insert Team Name]", just pisses everybody off.

He was one of my favourite PL & England players back in the day.
I personally think he was an excellent player, always conducted himself well - never seemed any malicious intent there.

I think people get a bit butt hurt about how, with respect, Chelsea 'gifted' him the job, while other managers have to cut their teeth in the lower leagues and many never get a shot at the big time.

Going a bit off topic here but what baffles me is that Enzo Maresca had one season at Leicester - yes they won the league, but it's still a completely different ball game to managing at the level expected of you at Chelsea - got given the Chelsea job really because there weren't many outstanding available candidates at the time, and nobody says owt.

Coventry like Bristol appear to have run out of steam

Us and Sunderland on the other hand appear to have steam remaining

What happens if this game results in a huge brawl with 4 players on each side Sent off? Does it end with us getting the final by default and save everyone a journey to London?

Or do they combine the teams that are left and we play coverland (or sunderty)?

It will be Coventry. I wanted it to be Sunderland, but the fluidity of Coventry is stretching Sunderland. But, have no fear, Lampard is a bottler, and cannot deliver on the big stage

No, Sunderland aren't all that, but we can make them all that if we give them too much respect

We should expect to control the game and not panic when they get the ball because as lively as their attackers look, the reality is they don't score that many goals

Le Bris is like a French Nigel Clough. You don't lie down for Nigel Clough

We are watching 4 v 5 - after a reasonable and lucky performance, Sunderland has got a 2-1 advantage to take home in front of a packed raucous house, and so far they have done nothing.
We played the team one place below Coventry and smashed them 6-0.
We are the best team - we will win at Wembley!

If only it was that simple.

Both of these look poor tonight
Sunderland quality player wise should be ripping Coventry to shreds, but unfortunately in front of 47,000 of their own fans they have failed to deliver. The manager or the pressure of playing at the stadium of light ??????

Sunderland have a talented young attacking team who are stifled by this manager. The fans also appear nervous and lacking belief

Is that technically Sunderland's 6th loss in their last 7? Not sure who I even want to win at this point
