Exactly, and we lost all shape. Leonard shouldn't of started, don't see what he was done to deserve a spot especially after Lun's MOTM performance last game.

I wouldn’t say it was defensive, it was more about ‘being solid’. Either way it completely pissed me off and I’m usually quite laid back about these things.

You don’t start out looking to be solid in the middle if you’re expecting to be the dominant team, which we absolutely should have been tonight. If you’re looking to control the game and keep the ball in the opposition half the position that Duffy plays is the most important when playing 3-5-2. Leonard probably offers a lot of things but creativity isn’t one of them.

He offers nothing going sideways or backwards either.

Being dropped after having a half decent game and scoring must mess with your confidence but he was absolute shite when he came on but then so was the entire rest of the midfield / forward line.

can't understand why we set out to be 'solid' against Hull. they're not fucking Brazil.. we should have gone for them they'd have caved in

Seems a strange comment seen as he has got more goals than the rest of the midfield? Evans and Leonard was having shockers so it couldn't get any worse and didn't. Leonard was never in the game and should have be been dragged off at half time.

Exactly. I said exactly that before the game. If we had attacked them and kept the pressure on they would have crumbled. Duffy allows us to keep the pressure on.
 
We basically played 3 holding midfielders against one of the worst teams in the league.

If Duffy wasn’t fit to play the full 90 then fair enough as we had no other options with Holmes and Brooks unavailable.

i've got to the point now where i would like to know wtf is going on with Duffy? does he have poor recovery characteristics or does Chris keep dropping him?

I’d like to know too. How much did he play last season? I can’t recall him having to miss this many games.

If he’s being dropped then for me that’s having the opposite effect as he isn’t being given the chance to get into the ‘groove’.
 
As a proud Happy Clapper even I'v got to say I've NEVER seen us look so clueless and shambolic.
As said, barely a pass finding a team-mate, barely a ball controlled and barely a header won or tackle made :(
Maybe we're not quite ready for the PL yet ;)

Indeed a bizarre team selection.
Leonard looks a boy lost. in the mist.

Only Evans of the JTW signings so far, looks to have improved us.

Never said it was but he has scored more than rest of them so how can we say he offers nothing going forward? The midfield was shocking tonight so why not being him on after he played well and got a goal on Tuesday? Leonard was never ever in the game can't even remember seeing him and Evans was shocking and getting put under pressure because the rest of midfield weren't helping him and he gave the ball away to much but he doesn't like been out under pressure but that's no excuse. The midfield was shocking and needed changing hence why wilder changed all midfield apart from fleck. The strikers had nothing to do all game because we couldn't get the ball to them. Between the 3 of them in midfield we couldn't pads the ball 5 yards.

everyone is putting far too much faith in Brooks. even if he was on the pitch tonight as good as he is he couldn't have won by himself
he's a young lad in his breakthrough season. he's not a miracle worker.

The point I am making is that to not start Duffy when Brooks is injured is bonkers. We need at least one of them playing as they are the only players we have who are capable of regularly beating a man.

agree. sorry, i was making a more general point about something that worries me.. in quite a few games Brooks gets sent on as sub ten minutes before the end to save the game. bit like Duffy did tonight actually
