I can understand the gloomsters. You've been away from the PL for a long time, you enjoyed it last season & you don't want it to end. You know full well how long it can bloody take to get back.
I only watched your highlights on motd2 so realise that really doesn't always give the full picture of any game.
However, from what I saw I thought you played very well. Ramsdale for one was very good & should give you some confidence.
Leeds goal came off Bamford's f*cking nose so you could say it might have gone anywhere! I think the game could equally have ended 1-0 to you, so there's hope.
Yes, you're 19th after 3 games but, look where 1 win takes you in this league. We might be 11th now but that really doesn't mean anything either, at this stage.
See where you are after 9 or 10 games.

• The reactions to any transfer that doesn’t materialise
• The reaction to the post-lockdown start
• The reaction after the Millwall home game
• The reaction after the Villa away game
• The reaction after we failed to obliterate Wednesday in their 0-0 wins
• The reaction after Ryan Leonard was revealed to be allowed to play against us
• The reaction after the Fleetwood loss
• The annual threads since Wilder started declaring we needed to revert to 4 at the back because we’d been found out

...and then realised that we have just always had a chunk of fans that deal with any adversity, or perceived adversity, regardless of size, without any degree of calm. It probably looks embarrassing to those looking at it from outside, but in the same way I’d encourage folk not to overreact to the actual events that happen, it’s probably not worth overreacting to those panicky reactions that you see.

Spot on LB although after seeing the same owd reactions from the same owd posters for many years now, I’m of the opinion that they actually love an excuse to overreact and be panicky. A bit of misery makes their day and it certainly ups their post count.

I would say to all those with half empty glasses to get them topped up guys.
Over the last few seasons CW and Co have built up a huge reservoir of credibility to justify our faith in their abilities.
For me, the time to worry would be when CW packs his bags and walks away from the club.
He is solely the difference of where we were and where we are now.

As has been repeated far too often, we're only three games into this season. Our form is decent, but we lack certain crucial positions. The fact that our two best central defenders are injured is something no one could have imagined, but them's the strokes and we'll adapt, maybe not as well as we'd hoped for but Wilder will make sure we're in good shape to face whatever comes our way. Most of our better players could have been called that two years ago.

and frankly United are always slow out of blocks. But Sheffield United and Leeds will finish mid table as they are both good enough.

I would prefer more creative flair in midfield but a new striker and a solid defence is enough to climb the table and kickstart the season.
I do not wish then to hear the lemmings spouting more bullshit.

Several reasons here Bucks. Firstly because we live in a society where people want things NOW! Used to ordering stuff off the net, must come tomorrow. It's also human nature that people get used to something good and then the minute it stops or lessens slightly its crap. For example, getting a great new car. There's a buzz for the first few weeks but then it settles down, and its no longer exciting. In a year or two, nothing wrong with the car still, many buy a new car.

Back to solely football, our fans are now used to success, over the last few years this has been unprecedented in my time as a fan. We've had success before, but it was always with struggles along the way and just staying up etc. I think only fan who supported us in the early 70's were treated to similar success. Therefore, being 9th is almost not good enough unless we progress further for some. Personally I believe that we've been unlucky so far, not much has gone for us, and we could easily be on four points. I am not panicking and just so pleased that we're in the PL with a great chance of staying up again this season.

I think the club is simply not equipped to compete at this level. As I said in another thread, of every team in the entire league, I think it is just ourselves and Leeds that have neither multiple years of Premier League money in the bank, or recent parachute payments.

Wilder is a miracle worker, but there's only so much he can do before the gap between our resources and those of everyone else begin to tell. Look at Villa - they looked wank when they came up, so they spent a load in the Summer. They continued to look poor, so they spent a load in January. They stayed up, unconvincingly, so spent a load more. Now they look like a mid table side. We simply can't do that - we look great for most of last year, but now we're having to spend what is for us a king's ransom on a kid who is untested at this level, just to give ourselves even a puncher's chance of staying up.

You have to remember, 'this is what we can afford.'
It's not worth overspending to stay in the Prem, being there does not make you some super power and does not make your club wealthy. The money that you get from being in the EPL is consumed in wages and fees, it probably makes funding each season easier (for teams like United and Burnley) but even the Leeds and Villas of this world are cannon fodder in the EPL.

Not sure how long you've been supporting the Blades and I admire your optimism. I've been supporting the Blades since I could walk & they are the only constant in my life for 55yrs.
When people show a 'lack of faith' it's usually cos they've seen these scenarios many times before & they have a fairly good idea how they end.

I remember our promotion to the top flight in 1971 with a a very similar, small but talented squad.
This side was comparable to the present day team, a proper footballing side. Back then, as a kid, I never really noticed events off the pitch. If I had, I would have seen a spectacular lack if ambition. In 1975 we almost reached Europe, and with no better moment to kick on we spent a miserly £100 000 on Chris Guthrie. The next season we were relegated. I remember we played quite well in many games but got beat with sucker punches, very similar to the Leeds game.

Long story short: this was my first experience of 'the board' & it's lack of drive, ambition & vision.
Every time we have reached the Promised land since has resulted in the same scenario. Lack of ambition, smallest budget in the league, a reliance on an inspirational manager to produce miracle after miracle.

Momentum is massive in all sport. We are bottom (after 3 gamed admitted but look at our next 5 fixtures) & i fear if we are there in 10 games it will be very difficult to escape.

So sorry fella, many people's 'doom & gloom' is just a consequence of 50 years+ being a Blade & the heartache that accompanies it.
