Why no VAR for Southampton goal??

Because they missed it. Which seems ridiculous.

Why check every goal if you're going to miss stuff like that? If you didn't have the angle, why haven't you got the angle?

If you're ruling on goals after the fact, why is there a statute of limitations? They're already meddling.
 
VAR is automatically used for EVERY goal.
Its a clear and obvious factual error by the boys controlling VAR.

I’ve heard that Sky Sports won’t allow them to use their multiple cameras.
So can only suspect that from the VAR camera angle it couldn’t be seen.

It’s an appalling error though, as this is black and white, not opinion based.
The rule is when a goal is scored....even a totally accidental handball by the attacking team means the goal must be disallowed.
This is different to the rule if the defending team accidentally handball thrn it’s not a penalty.

There’s been a pattern this season that VAR is just reacting to criticism.

For 2 or 3 weeks VAR wasn’t overturning anything.
There were some obvious penalties missed by VAR, so VAR was ridiculed as a joke.

Then for 2 or 3 weeks there was a spell where VAR over ruled loads of 50/50’s
and was giving stupid penalty decisions. VAR was then ridiculed for taking the game away from referees.

Then theres been a few weeks where VAR have been criticised for spoiling great moments...like the fantastic build up play on McGoldricks equaliser.
It was said VAR is too strict on the rules and seem to be going out of their way to stop goals.

So now we have an example tonight where VAR is reluctant/ refusing to disallow a goal.

Instead of being consistent VAR seem to want to please everyone, they are reacting to media criticism and go from one extreme to the other.

Don’t be so sarcastic. We split know that is ridiculous.

It was the digestive biscuit that he got out of the cupboard. That was the reason he missed it
 
Personally I think VAR should be used for clear and obvious. Sky only spotted it some time after with one of their multiple cameras. We can't have two or three minute delays while they debate every goal.
 
Genuine question, how is it decided what goes to VAR?

Is it the Ref, the team at Stockdale? Just how and who decides whether something goes to VAR??

Watford spokesperson has said they already took it up with var and they said they didn't have an angle available which showed the handball.

Adding to that there are dozens of possible points to check in almost every goal scored each with a dozen different angles (if var is given access to all cameras) can we really ask var to check 100 different camera shots every goal.. just in case?

If so we should pack it all up now as football would be well and truly dead.

Every goal goes to VAR, so that's not decided by the officials.

Every foul in the area/ penalty appeal gets looked at I think, and red cards/ potential red cards get looked at, and yellow cards get checked if the ref asks I believe, to see if it's a red, and in a fracas incase of mistaken identity.

I find it incredible that the money spent on VAR and it’s planned camera positions can’t match Sky‘s handful of camera’s situated around the ground.

Seems like a lot of money spent for no good reason to me.

The ironic thing is that VAR was introduced to stop this kind of thing, not to chalk goals off for an overgrown toenail!!
 
Just get rid of it. Human error by referees at the spur of the moment during games played at 100mph is one thing, understandable, and does probably even itself out. Human error with hindsight and multiple camera views is just ridiculous, and utterly pointless. Get shutonit!
 
When did anyone ever say VAR was going to be perfect? Of course there are going to be errors, there is still a bloke looking at the replays. Then add in that people will moan at the slightest VAR delay it’s no wonder stuff will be missed when the VAR ref can’t take his time checking the replays.

Did you know an NFL game that should be 60 minutes actually lasts over 3 hours due to flags, appeals, reviews etc etc. Is this how you want footy to end up?

It's supposed to be perfect. That's the whole point of it.
 
How the fuck was Liverpool's second allowed to stand today when the corner was clearly outside the D?

Yes I am aware of that and no football will never be like that, unless the Premier League decides to start having TV advert breaks during the game. But what’s that got to do with VAR?
 



Var is currently not suitable for purpose. However it is more to do with the what the refs/FA set it it upto do, rather than what it will end up being. Plus the changes to the handball rules.
