Why cant we kill a game off after taking a lead? Is it a confidence issue? I for one think we over play at times and cant mix it up when needed, i couldnt care les if w play like barcelona cos if we dont win the game it counts for fuck all, playing pretty football is very nice but, and iv said it a thousand times, the result os far more important for me and their equaliser is a perfect example of this, danny needs to be more flexible and sort out a fuckin back up plan cos teams have totally sussed us out. Pretty football .. Winning football.. I know which one i prefer!

FFS!!!! Doesn't take longs does it.

Do people really not remember what it was like watching a team sent out by Blackwell????

Yes i can and i can also remember warnock too im not saying hoof it up to the big man every game but that for me has to be an option when our A game is not working, we are too predictable and we cant defend for fuckin toffee at the moment.

You think yesterday was pretty football?

Did Long throw it out even once? Can't recall an instance.

Did we manage to string more than 4 passes together the whole match? Maybe once second half.

How many times was it hoofed up to the 'big man' up front? Lost count.

I do, unfortunately it was very similar to what we watched first half yesterday.

I didn't think the line up was particularly bad. Trying Cofie on the wing to see if he could use his pace there was worth a try - although in hindsight it was another wasted chance to try Chappell, Tønne or McFadzean. He never got into the game at all.

When the opposition closed down McDonald quickly early doors we found no options but to hit it long. Long had the ball more than most of our outfield players and he hit it long almost every time (not his fault, defenders have to show for the ball to give him that option, but it may not have been our tactics on the day, or Oldham were pressing us to high up the pitch, and anyway Hill and Williams lack a bit composure, which is required if we're going to build from the back.

I have seen and heard this argument a few times about Long not throwing quickly to his full backs and I am not sure if people actually watch the same game. He didn't have the chance to throw or kick short because Oldham's tactics were to stop us playing it from the back. I suggest people go back and look at the game and see how they pushed up on our back 4 when Long had the ball

Not seen much exciting football from us since Ched went tbh. I'd rather watch pacey wingers beating the defender or a powerful midfielder or striker going forward than midfielders & centre halves passing it aimlessly amongst themselves before going backwards. But style comes a distant second behind winning for me. And whilst it's good to be unbeaten we have dropped points against some very poor teams this season.

The problem in the first half yesterday is we were hoofing it long and it was one the shittest halves of football I ever saw. The amount of times Williams launched it in hope of finding Blackman or Kitson was ridiculous then finally in the 2nd half he starts passing it round and we started creating chances.

We just don't have clinical enough strikers or wingers.

Flynn should have killed the game off yesterday.

Apparantly we couldn't extended Gallaghers loan because we need a keeper and can't afford to loan two players!
Yet we have strikers coming out of our ears Kitson, Blackman, Cresswell, Porter, Cofie, Miller,Ironside, Philliskirk and still if you take out the 5 goals v Bournmouth we can only score one goal per game!!!
What on earth is Wilson playing at!
Week in Week out we ship basic error goals - yet we continue to do it!
Week in Week out we fail to convert easy chances!
Masquaraded by our clappers saying 'But we are unbeaten this season!' b****cks - Stevenage are above us and they have lost 4 games!!!
If we keep giving away points at BDTBL - Bury 2 pts, Donny 2 pts, Notts Co 2pts, Oldham 2pts - all winnable - there is no chance of automatic promotion - we now haven't won at the Lane since 1st September!!!
Can Wilson sort it out - at present he looks lost and clueless - He continues to fill round hole gaps in midfield with the likes of square pegs Westlake, Williams, Cresswell and now Cofie -surely our midfielders in the development squad can do a better job !
We are making the same mistakes every week and Wilson seems powerless to stop it!

Because we are tactically inept, wasting time like we tried to do got exactly what it deserved. The reality is we just aren't good enough

Exactly, there is nothing left in the team that makes us the cut above the majority we were last season. Our match winners have left, the squad is lopsided, we can't put out a first XI of players playing in their natural position and to compound it all MacDonald has been shocking!

On the plus side no-one has managed to outplay us for 90 minutes and we haven't had to be extremely lucky not to lose yet, so that's something.

At the moment I have no faith in Wilson or his coaching staff whatsoever....................
and if I continue to keep reading comments from the players like we're getting better and stronger, we will demolish teams, our squad is quality and on and on .................................
NO it isn't and NO we won't ..... basic facts lads .................................
You cannot retain possession of the ball, You cannot find a telling cross from either open play or dead ball situations, You cannot defend set plays, you cannot put easy chances away and you cannot see out games to a succesful conclusion.
Unfortunately it is fact, currently we are struggling to keep up with the likes of Stevenage and Tranmere, we have not won at home since September 1st and we have not got enough players to fill the midfield unless we use reseve forwards and defenders.
Any manager who has 6-7 strikers and only 4 midfielders must be questioned !

So, here we are, 12 games into the season, yet to be beaten, third in the table and yes, we aren't exactly setting the third division world on fire Tranmere style, but it's still not enough for some.
I honestly believe some folk on here would prefer us to be losing every week, down near the bottom, so their claims that we are 'shite' are justifiable on paper too.
I just don't know why you bother to follow football if it makes you so downright feckin miserable and negative?

Yes, we aren't as good as last season and last season, in the big football picture, we weren't that good anyway, but good enough to get pipped at the post and then lose on penalties in our second bite at the cherry. This season, despite circumstances making the team inferior to last years, we are still where we'd want to be within reason so what's the problem you miserable gits?
Do I like us being in the third tier, no I fuckin well don't, but whingeing and moaning, berating and criticising isn't going to help the cause one bit. So I try to see it in context and get behind the team, hope we can continue the 'steady' start to the season, improve as we go on and secure an auto spot.

The financial situation at BDTBL is precarious to say the least, the chairman is propping us up and shovelling cash in by the week to keep us going, if he decides enough is enough (pray he doesn't), we may well be plying our trade a lot lower than we are now.

Our 'Precarious Financial Situation' is generally of our own making - just a few short years ago we were in the Premier Division facing the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd now we are hanging on to Tranmere's coat-tails!
Yes we are unbeaten but as I've said before Stevenage have been beaten four times already this season and we are still behind them!
Every club in this division would love to 'attract' the gates we achieve!
The fact is we expect better, that is why we complain - yesterday the majority of the 18,000 plus crowd expected better
Why shouldn't we complain - we are Sheffield United FC not Bury, Hartlepool, Crawley, Stevenage, Colchester, Leyton Orient and the rest of the dross that is the Third Division
Why shouldn't we expect to compete in the Championship when the likes of Peterborough, Brighton, Barnsley, Bristol City, Huddersfield, and not to mention that lot in S6 do so every week!!
Carry on, accept mediocrity, I for one expect better!

That's the second time you've said Stevenge have lost 4 this season - in fact yesterday was their first defeat.

This has got to be a joke post please tell me you are not happy to be below the likes of Tranmere and Stevenage. We don't have to be near the bottom for everyone who cares to look to realise we are shite when we drop points to the likes of Oldham, Bury at the lane and struggle against anyone in the bottom six. Whingeing and criticism will not do any good but neither will coming here posting we are unbeaten, get behind the team or posting more bollocks about the owner.
Open your eyes we have a squad barely able to keep a clean sheet due to schoolboy errors week in week out, a squad down to the bare bones in midfield, overloaded with strikers yet unable to score more than a goal a match most weeks and a clueless manager who is fast losing the plot and resorting to Blackwell/Adams tactics.

We can't play pretty football because besides from McDonald we haven't actually got anyone who can pass the ball. Williams can't get it under control, Maguire hoofs it down the other end the first chance he gets, Flynn always wants to do too much.

Miller needs to get more game time. He must be wondering why he has even joined us.

Yeh, expected it would be the usual suspects who answered with their usual diatribe....

Metal, if you'd read my post properly before giving your standard responses, you'd have read " Do I like us being in the third tier, no I fuckin well don't," however I'll excuse your selectiveness.

Again, if you'd read my post (maybe past the first line or two) you may have digested, "Yes, we aren't as good as last season and last season, in the big football picture, we weren't that good anyway" which states less chillingly your withering description of our abilities.

Your credibilty is open to question when the tired old phrases 'lost the plot' and 'clueless manager' are trotted out. Heaven help the rest of this division if Danny ever finds the plot and discovers a clue...

Fiery, just out of interest, does 'not accepting mediocrity' as you put it, add up to you coming on here saying the same old stuff? I'm interested to know if you have any other form of this non-acceptance?
I kinda don't like my team portraying mediocrity, but I can't do anything tangible to affect that, I'm guessing (other than windbagging on here), that you can?

Unfortunately, none of us mere mortals can have any tangible effect other than to vent our frustration on the players making the same mistakes every match, Wilson appearing to not be in control of the team, picking forwards in midfield positions, and signing on players after seeing that they are obviosly not up to the task eg Williams, Porter, etc

We obviously have a number of players that are not up to the task of competing in the third division : Philliskirk, Tonne, MacAllister, Westlake, Miller, yet they are draining the club of much needed resources!

Why shouldn't questions be asked as regards why the defence keeps making the same errors week in week out, why when there is a throw in does there not seem to be any plan or strategy, why at corners do we very rarely beat the first man, why do we consistantly give the ball away????
Many questions which Wilson has failed to answer or appears to be doing anything about!

I just can't go along with your 'defence making same mistakes' week in week out argument? We've just conceded one goal in three games? Plan or strategy from a throw in? Usually thrown to a man who has made space, or do you want them all hurling into the box? I just don't get it?
We don't give it away any more than our opponents do, probably less, or we wouldn't be in third place. Teams at this level give it away pretty much more than higher up. But lets not forget the other team does have to try and get it back off us and sometimes succeed, thats how football works.

I agree we have some players who will not be up to it at this level but all clubs carry players who are not up to scratch at the level the club is playing at. We can only play what the manager considers his best 11 available to win a match. We may think different but Wilson's record on winning matches at SUFC stands up to scrutiny.

Seems like you are the one trotting out the tired old phrases when the first sentence of your reply includes the words usual suspects and usual diatribe. In reality your first post on the thread was the usual response to any poster who dares to complain or criticise yet another poor performance from a team representing a club who for all their troubles still have more resources than just about any other club in the division. I really don't see the point of you or anyone else making accusations or insinuating such posters are not behind the team. I see posts like yours time and time again and then some that call the poster a pig fan or suggest trips to Meadowhall on matchdays. Yeah seen it all before and all the bollocks that McCabe is keeping us afloat more like he is the millstone round our necks. Last season Wilson was praised for the style of football played and rightly so then came the play offs and the same limp wristed style that Blackwell tried more scared of losing than actually trying to win the damn thing, now more often than not we seem to be playing the Blackwell way players out of position etc, but worse we pass it across the back four before lumping it towards Kitson. And you have the nerve to question my credibility when I say he has lost the plot or has no clue how to change it ........................... or is that just because everyone can see a manager with little passion and no balls ? 2nd season syndrome anyone ????

When I heard Wilson's first interview while fans were booing and abusing him in the car park, I thought he was the bravest man in the world. I still think he can get it right, and while I'm frustrated with quite a few of his decisions, focusing on him rather than his decisions will only make for poor debates on here.

The performances are concerning. The league position is ok. It's too early to draw conclusions about Wilson.

I'm not drawing conclusions yet but there is a big question mark over Danny's ability to keep on playing the good winning football with the players he chooses to use. Who would you rather have at wide midfield, defenders or strikers out of position or young players from the academy side in their usual places ??? Are they not good enough or is Danny too scared to play them given the chance that like all young players the will make the odd mistakes ?
