I’ve recently been to both Sheffield FC and hansdworth.

My preference I think would be Handsworth as my mate plays for them.

Absolutely agree with you. I go to see Ilkeston a few times in the season as a couple of my mates live down there. You seem to feel wanted rather than just being a customer.
Much as it pains me to say it, I enjoy myself much more at these games than I've been doing at the Lane.

I'm completely the same but I'm not sure if it's just a phase or me moving on from United. It could be that we're in the "post holiday blues" period where we're coming off the back of some really good times but are now back to the reality of what this club actually is. I can't shake the frustration of how we have completely blown such a great situation to progress as a club and are now closer to being a L1 team than a Premier League team.

Whatever it is, I am definitely struggling with motivation regarding United, more than at any other time of me being fan. We've had much worse periods but I've never felt this disengaged personally. I feel quite sad about how little enthusiasm I have for the club right now. I hope it comes back because I miss it but going to games is very much s chore at the moment. If it wasn't for the pre match stuff, I'd probably sack it all off. Hopefully I feel different in a few months

You sum it up how I feel at the minute, been going home and away since the 60s, if im honest the play off final, (last one) pretty much killed me inside! Yes it sounds daft and I've been used to defeats as we all have. Still attend though, but somethings missing from my enthusiasm in fact I'm going to confess my son whos also a blade home & away, as talked me into going on a beer trip this Saturday, missing the Derby game! something over the years I would have said to him fck off! I'm off to the lane, maybe im running out of interest, which I've probably become a sad bastard!

Yeah the complete lack of characters in the team is definitely something that makes them hard to get behind. A lot of that is because they're all so new but most of them just seem the sort where you'll go "oh yeah I forgot we had him" in a few years.

I go to watch Hallam a few times a season so I’d say them, although noticed an increasing pork flavour at the games (Hallam & Pigs flags, pig shirts, scarves etc) which was a bit off putting. Presuming a few have tried to co-opt them once the tuna well ran dry.

As for football in general my interest in the game has been on the wane for a long time. It’s all behind a myriad of paywalls and the elite level of the game gets more boring to watch….plus VAR sucking the life out of it.

Realistically we are just in a holding pattern until the formation of a European Super League, either as a breakaway or an evolution of the current CL format. Probably the only thing that will inject some real excitement for a club like us rather than the prospect of the occasional promotion followed by a season of limp relegation and years of cloth cutting to follow.

I still enjoy the international tournaments, although with the expanded World Cup they’ve managed to ruin that as well.

I think footballs popularity in general is slowly dying in the UK, the professional game is a shadow of what it once was in terms of excitement and entertainment. It seems to have become a game where the emphasis is almost more upon not conceding rather than trying to score, meaning in the main, games are a boring spectacle. The only players with any individual flair and pace are quickly hovered up by Premier League teams.
I’ve got no interest in watching football beyond United and to be honest they are testing my resolve, but if they didn’t exist, I couldn’t even consider supporting anyone else.
But if it were to happen, it would at least end the lifetime burden placed upon every male member of my family and even future male descendants, from a life of false hope and disappointment. 🫩

I'm enjoying international football more and more. I used to hate international breaks but I'm really invested in all the qualifying now. Obviously money still plays a part at international level but you can't change where someone is born. It's the one place left where you can't simply buy success

I have found it increasingly difficult to muster enough enthusiasm to watch United since the last PL horror show, never mind anyone else. I still watch every match we play, and go through the same range of emotions, but not to the same level as I used to.

Beyond United, and laughing at the Pigs when they are struggling, the game has become a complete snoozefest.

It’s telling that hardly anyone - me included - would pick a Premier League club to support.
They’re all the antithesis of what football is to me & so I’d have to look down the pyramid like just about everyone else has.
I’d probably go to the Millers - local to me plus a few family & friends go already.
Match day for me now is increasingly about the ritual of a few drinks, a chip-butty, a natter, a laugh & a few hours outside in the fresh air.

If United ceased to exist then I’d probably support nobody. I love watching football and the social side of it too, I would really miss the meeting up with friends before and after the game.

I don’t go to away matches these days, it’s far too expensive to do regularly. If there was no United then in all likelihood I’d treat myself once or twice a season to going to watch someone abroad.

The rest of the time I’d be in my workshop on Saturdays. Not spending money on a season ticket and the general match day expenses would mean I could get a new lathe, and possibly a metal working lathe too.

I think me and the lad would just try and do the 92 and go somewhere random every week.

If I still lived locally I'd probably go and watch Matlock and Bakewell non league. Maybe even Buxton.

The club has no vibe at the moment. Whether that's the new owners or hangover from our last premier league season. We'd be stinking up the premier league this season even if we had won the play off final unfortunately.

Like many others, I wouldn’t bother picking another team. Outside of United I don’t watch much football at all. I’d find it hard if not impossible to invest the time and emotion into another club.

I was at Matlock town Saturday, really enjoyed it, few pints in the pub near the ground, pie & chips during the game £8 to get in, its not classic football but whos cares, players what play for the love of the game already looking forward to the next home game. What's not to like... Matlock won 6-2... only draw back is they play in blue & white

Since i am no longer in Sheffield, i would only choose local so myself and the boy when old enough would be able to go watch a bit of footy and a few beers and make sure we stayed connected in a world where it so easy to just disconnect and lose yourself and others in the daily, weekley, monthly grind.

I did have connections as a coach for Kings Langley so might be them or hemel Town, which interestingly enough Samir Carruthers played for 2020/2022 in his fall down the pyramid after leaving us, I believe he is now only semi Pro so bad was his fall from Pro football.

Went to Union Saint-Gilloise last night, beat St Truiden 2-0. Sat with my mates, had a couple of beers while watching the match, supporting a winning team...all good stuff but I would swap all that for a scruffy 1-0 win for dem Blades.
