LMA manager of the year for 2019 and runner up in 2020 will massively struggle to find a job?

Add in everything else, relationship with the board, chairman and owner, money spent on transfers, 'loyalty' to self confessed dream job/club etc
No-one can deny what CW achieved here and in his previous jobs, promotion after promotion but that's in the past people focus on recent history, but its clear the way he left is going to be a question that's always going to be asked, easy to say with hindsight but the way the 'split' was handled might be something he wishes was handled differently

Dont think he'll struggle to get a job, but the last 12 months have been a shocker for prospective employment.

Terrible results and performances, public falling out with owners, questionable recruitment, trying to resign, seemingly wanting huge amounts of control and autonomy, possible wage expectations etc etc

Its a bad fit for a lot of clubs, and the fact WBA have swerved is quite telling and the above probably rules out any interest from the Premier League for a start.

One day maybe he'll return to the top, but really needs a clean slate and to rebuild his reputation at wherever he ends up next.

Perfect job for CW is one of the fallen giants in league one so he can try and replicate what he did with us.

If Sunderland make a poor start, or Ipswich, he'd be the perfect man to bring in. Even Charlton where he was going before we nipped in.

Alternatively it won't be long before Derby or Forest are looking for a new manager

Robbie I deliberately didn't include them as tjeres no chance and they only fulfill one part of the 'fallen giants' and its not the giants!!

Joking aside there's going to be some very disappointed supporters in that division next season as all those teams fans believe they belong in higher leagues. Hopefully a few.of them will beat our 6yr.exile !

I read one report that the board were unanimous in deciding that CW was the man for the job, but the owner, Guochuan Lai,, who I think resides in China, said no, something to do with the way CW's relationship went with our owner.

Agreed.

I saw this too, and I know for certain that I wouldn't employ Wilder to work in my business for me on that very basis.

Two sides to every story though. We've heard the Prince's side and we aren't really going to hear Chris' side for likely a long time.
As I've said many times that Prince interview was conducted to paint him out as not the bad guy and try to dampen Chris' legacy too because the Prince had got alot of stick for the departure. I wouldn't believe everything that was said at all.
This all said I support the club and want the Prince to do well of course! And so far appointing Slav seems a good step.

Back to Wilder can't deny that this last season will certainly have dampened his stock. Had he kept us up for instance and left then I'd imagine clubs like Palace may be interested even. As it stands I'd say West Brom is currently best club he can currently hope for but after the season starts and possible managerial merry go round he could still end up in the PL trying to rescue a club too.

He needed some time out of the game that's for sure, this is something I've heard from a few people as well so don't think he will mind waiting till Christmas etc.

West Brom made a bit of a mess of this. But should they appoint someone in a few weeks they could settle things down again.
I wouldn't be happy though if we were still none the wiser approaching mid June.

I think CW now has a reputation within the game that will be hard to shake off.
Chairman, like Managers are pretty self-serving so unless you were desperate why would you appoint someone who basically told porkies to get out of their current situation with a big pay-off?
Briefing in the media against your own owner/club is not a good look for prospective employers.
The Prince’s interview has put everything out in the open and will have a lingering effect on the employment opportunities for CW.

Where is this narrative come from that we’ve not heard Chris’ side? It was being pumped into all the local press for months prior to it coming to a head.
While he’s not taken the opportunity to talk since this take that we’ve only one side is for the birds. Chris made sure fans knew his frustrations and used it to put pressure on the board to get what he felt was right.
