When I last went to Turkey (Istanbul a fair few years ago) we had to buy a "visa" on the plane.

It's changed for Brits going to Turkey - you now need to get an e-Visa before you go. Costs $20.

Sounds like some proper hoops for Turkish nationals trying to visit the UK; £80 and it takes three weeks for them to make a decision.
