Freeman can go unless he'd moved from full back. I'd also keep Flynn (wouldn't have expected to say that a year ago).

I don't mind Clough staying if he admits his mistakes and this was on him, otherwise he is the same Milliband and Clegg.

We need two CB's and 2 CM's and a goal scorer.

Be more interested in the who's to go list. There is alot of wages being spent on the below. get the out and bring in the quality we need to get out of this division (if we don't go up his season). We were promised quality players and a bench supplemented with youth, now if you're staying Nigel, get on with it.

Howard, Alcock, Collins, McEverley, JCR, Coutts, Doyle, B Davies, Higdon, maybe Baxter,

If we need to buy we may need to sell to bring cash in first and Brayford and Murphy are the only ones worth any real money.

Would rather keep Murphy, Brayford has not looked the same player as last season.

He won't admit his mistakes too proud and arrogant.

Don't agree with that play Brayford in his proper position build your team around him

I'd keep Mcnulty too. Davies is not a prolific goalscorer, I think the plan to coach the goals out of Done will go well too but somehow Mcnulty scores when he's given a start.

I'm amazed Courts isn't mentioned as a 'stayer'

I'm guessing you mean Coutts and either you're being extremely sarcastic, or you're basing that on the reputation he came with, rather than the absolutely diabolical performances he's put in, with the exception of the odd game, since he arrived here. He looks a terrible footballer.

correct on the 'Coutts' autocorrect turned it into 'courts' shame it couldn't turn him into a footballer as well, on that note I'm sure you now know my thoughts on him.

In :-
John Brayford
Kieron Freeman
Chris Basham
Ryan Flynn
Matt Done
Jamie Murphy

I would want these to be pushing for 1st team starts :-
Che Adams
Louis Reed
Marc McNulty

I would work on their fitness over the summer and assess after pre season, I would hope to keep three of them.
James Wallace
Florent Cuvelier
Terry Kennedy
Paul Coutts
Jose Baxter

Get rid of the rest bring in 2x keepers, 2x centre backs, a left back, a big strong pacey midfielder and a big strong pacey striker.
I agree with all the above, only problem is we need to make sure we identify and sign our targets straight away (like Bristol did) rather than stall and end up panic signing again.

I have no problem at all with Coutts, to say we signed him after a big injury I think he will benefit from a good preseason. Baxter can play in most positions and contributes with goals so he is good to have in the squad. With Wallace and Cuvelier I think we should give them one more season to prove their fitness if they have another season like this one then at least we gave them a chance.

The player who I am most excited about next season is Che Adams, again with a proper preseason behind him working on his distribution etc we have a real gem there.

Rossb 123. The other issue in all this , we don't do pre season very well.:(

No one would keep Bob Harris ? One bad game and that's it ?

I would. I really rate Bob. His passing ranges between missing short, simple passes, to perfectly executing a well weighted 40 yard ball, but if he was more consistent he'd be playing at a lot higher level than ours. Plus he's the best crosser of a ball we have.

We miss him massively when he doesn't play.

I was impressed with Cuvelier when I last saw him then I think he picked up a knock and was then sent out on loan. Does anyone know what the current situation with him is ?.

My retained list would be similar to yours, perhaps retaining a few more. But, amazing isn't it, that after 20+ signings that's the sum total of the retained list

It actually says as much about Clough and his scouting network as it does about the players don't you think?

Last third of the season:

Played 16
Won 4
Drawn 8
Lost 4

scoring more than 1 goal in just 4 of those games!

And this is despite Clough telling us all how we would have a much stronger second half to the season than the first!

Stability?...........perhaps yes
Progress?........arguably no!

The squad whatever league we are in will require major surgery , with the requirement for new players in key positions . This is going to cost money , and we have got to ensure we scout , and purchase the correct players , who are going to make a impact , be fully fit , and be able to hit the ground running. We cannot bring in average squad players , any player has got to be someone , who makes a difference , and stamps there authority from day one.

After the season is fully over , and if we don't achieve promotion , the board and advisors have to analyse the impact this will have on the club.

There as been many a talk of can we afford ( not only financial terms ) to get rid of Clough . I think if promotion , is not achieved , it may be more like , can we afford to keep him.

This season has been wasted , and recruitment poor . The question will be , have the board enough confidence in Clough , and all his back room staff , to move this club forward.

The fans seem divided , are the board.

We need a plan to stop Byrne dictate the right side like he did on Thursday

Simples.
Play Flynn left, Murphy right, Done down the middle if fit...with Davies or McNulty up front.

I would keep Brayford,Done,Davies,Murphy,Flynn,Basham and get rid of all the rest.
2 new keepers needed and at least 2 quality strikers and sign Jamie Ward from Derby

Done played on the left when he came on last Thursday. Davies is a far better target man than McNulty

Yep, agree about Davies, I thought he did his job well the other night (apart from the misses) ..but McNulty rarely misses a chance..he's the better goal scorer .
Just reckon Flynn's done a great job marking players/tracking back before..and well, I'd give Done a bit of a free role mesen...I know it won't happen but let him go where he likes...we need that bit of unpredictability...

If we are still in League one as seems likely the majority of the team that has been playing since January will have to stay as there is only going to be significant extra funds released once we are in The Championship. As I mentioned on another thread there is not going to be anything like the spending that was done in January.

Howard will still be first choice keeper next season Harison Magahey will be expected to challenge for a CB first choice spot and the likes of Reed and Adams will be expected to be pushing for regular starting places and they will be hoping James Wallace will get and stay fit.

Could be 'challenging' time next season.
