Who stays

If we are still in League one as seems likely the majority of the team that has been playing since January will have to stay as there is only going to be significant extra funds released once we are in The Championship. As I mentioned on another thread there is not going to be anything like the spending that was done in January.

Howard will still be first choice keeper next season Harison Magahey will be expected to challenge for a CB first choice spot and the likes of Reed and Adams will be expected to be pushing for regular starting places and they will be hoping James Wallace will get and stay fit.

Could be 'challenging' time next season.

that's depressing :(

And that my dears is why I said we may have to sell either Brayford or Murphy to bring cash in to buy, but people don't want to hear about the difficult choices.

If you think Magahey, the Gus Ceaser of League one, is going to be the answer to our centre back problems then we are screwed.

Jury out on Reed and Adams as well, Wallace could be an important player if he wasn't made of Balsa wood.

If we need to buy we may need to sell to bring cash in first
Never mind the cash, if he buys many more average dwarf Scott's there won't be enough parking spaces in the car park for them.

I would keep Brayford,Done,Davies,Murphy,Flynn,Basham and get rid of all the rest.
2 new keepers needed and at least 2 quality strikers and sign Jamie Ward from Derby
Wards yesterday's news.
Definatly a decent keeper

I didn't say I thought Magahey was the answer, but I think they will want to try him pre season at least. Kudos for using the term Balsa wood though, something I haven't heard since about 1987.

One bad game!
What
Have you been to many home games

For me it's all a massive overreaction. We could and should have won.

The ref has a bad game. The players pay with their jobs.

Some will naturally be released but some of the massacres being talked about here are out of all proportion.

It guts me to say it but we need major surgery .

We need a plan to stop Byrne dictate the right side like he did on Thursday

Didn't Done have this effect? Byrne is ostensibly a full back if you occupy him with a dangerous forward he has to do that side of his job. I know he scored while Done was on but there were other factors.

Double teaming seems simplest (as the opposition do to Murphy). Also getting the ref to book him for multiple offences against amateur dramatics might be handy.

I don't think one player getting tight is the answer at all.

Another alternative is to cut the supply - but I'm never quite sure about the practicalities of that. Might work - just not sure how.

If we do go 2v1 then that frees someone else - and of course that needs covering.

Anyway isn't all this talk about defence (ironically) a bit negative and cautious.

I can't see us containing them on Monday - and we shouldn't try.

It's about outscoring them - which is what we tried to do on Thursday, but the Men in Black had other ideas.

UTB.

Byrne is a decent marauding full back if you like, but for fucks sake,he's playing for Swindon, they finished just above us in the third tier of English football. He's not Gareth bale. If by any chance Swindon go up he will struggle. Put someone on him early doors, fucking clatter him.then take it in turns on him. Not condoning going over the top or anything, but let him know your there. And some. We are just too soft, no grit, no strength, no height. We have got to fight to have the right to play. A bit of old fashioned roughing up needs to be done. Imo.

Not old fashioned roughing up , do like MK Dons , Bristol and Preston plus Chelski in the premiership . The only thing is its like the CB thing , we haven't got the players , with enough savvy to do it , without getting booked or sent off.

The problem is we cannot out score teams because the forwards are shite exception of Done and the defence is even worse not the best recipe for trying to achieve this

If we are going to play a sort we will score more than you football then you must be confident your forward line are going to score
And your midfield chip in with a few. You can blame the ref all you want but if we converted the chances we made we wouldn't be talking about his decisions. We are not going to score 2 or 3 every others game because we don't set up that way. We set up to keep clean sheets and to Nick a goal if possible. More chance of seeing the queens tits than keeping a clean sheet btw

Get a grip Davies converts his 2 glorious chances we win the game. You sound like clough
And if the ref gave us the two stone wall penalties (plus a possible third) allowed Done ' s perfectly good goal to stand and didn't pull Done back when he was through and we had two free players in the box we could have been three goals ahead.

I am all for constructive criticism but you surely cannot deny the ref's performance was a major (not the only) factor on Thursday.

No the ref was terrible I agree but if we had forward who can put away clear cut chances most of this lets blame the ref wouldn't be an issue because we would be taking a lead to Swindon on Monday. Also you cant possibly know the penalties would have been converted anyway. I agree there was nothing wrong with Done's goal and a draw would probably been a fair result because Swindon dominated long periods of the game

agreed.. bob didn't have a great deal of protection from the ghost players (Coutts. .Holt) in front of him.. but it would be a start.. like someone said the guy he was marking wasn't Gareth Bale

So. Who stays and who goes?

Murphy, Brayford and Done to stay.

They are the only players we have capable of playing in the division above (and no more)

Unless we have a team of Championship footballers, we can't hope to play Championship football.

At a push, Basham and Flynn. The rest just are not good enough. In fact some of them are playing a league above their ability.

If we get to the Chamionship, we need foreign play input from African and Eurpoean sources

Rocket science it aint.
