Well for the away fixture we actually went with a midfielded three of Basham Coutts and Fleck with Brooks drifting so I wouldn’t discount both Lundstram and Leonard starting alongside Fleck.

Interesting to see if Wilder does the same again then and opts for the added physical presence in the middle. Starting with a midfield 3 of Lundstram/Fleck/Leonard or Bash then bring Duffy on later perhaps?

If Duffy starts though then it has to be Lundstram for me, he's been superb of late. Leonard will have to earn his place in the starting line up.

Moving the ball on when not being under pressure or not having your team mates being pressed is relatively easy. I've yet to see him being 'Superb' in those circumstances as he turns back or square. i want him to receive, hold/hesitate, turn and accelerate. When he can do that he will be superb. at the moment he is good directing with everything in front of him. Don't allow him to turn and he is lost. IMHO of course. IF Leonard signs we will no doubt be able to compare. I want to see Lundstram in control in front of the back four. I think we have better options further up the pitch.

You can't start leonard in a game like this, its a risk both to him and our team. Our players need to get used to him in training and if he were to make a mistake in the derby (gives away a pen etc) then it would be such a sour start to his career. Leave him on the bench to appreciate the occasion then bring him on if needs be. Has to be fleck - lumdstram - duffy in there for me

Yeah i understand what you're saying but the lad is 23, still learning and developing as a player in his role. I think it's a tad harsh to be overly critical of him right now given how he's been one of our most consistent performers these last few weeks. Might not be the finished article yet but he's steadily improving and he'll get it over time as his experience grows at this level.

Since Lundstram has been our best player since he broke into the team, did the question really need asking? The second best player at dictating a game at the club, and maybe in the whole league (after Coutts of course). His long range passing is also by far the best at the club and has already created a number of goal scoring chances. If we had more pace this would be more effective.

The fact that we're able to have a disagreement over who is most influential: Fleck, Coutts, Lundstram or Duffy shows how fortunate we are.
Absolutely right, scroll back a few weeks when we lost Coutts to injury, we were in turmoil. Its very clear that we didn't have a ready made replacement at that time, but looking at the progress Lundstram has made its great that we are now talking like this.

Add Leonard into that mix and its a very good position to be in.

My opinion

Fleck Lundstram
Duffy

Bench: Leonard.

Lundstram has too and will start Friday. Friday is the wrong game to start chucking new players into the frame. Wilder knows full well how important the game is and will stick with a settled team

Players like Lundstram, Fleck and Bash are made for derbies. They will leave nothing out there just a case of making sure all three stay on the pitch. Basham was immense on Bouncing Day, broke up play and had their midfielders backing out of every 50/50 from the first minute. I'm sure Lundstram will do the same with Bash as part of back three

Paul Rogers and Darren Bullock may disagree with this sentiment mind.

I'm surprised this is up for discussion. Lundstram.

Anyone else needs to earn their place in the team, not have it gifted to them
