Who owns Bramall Lane

I am sure this type of structure and ownership arrangements are primarily designed to separate the most valuable asset, BDTBL from the football trading company in the event of insolvency/liquidation. An approach designed to protect the ground from claims by creditors.

This arrangement makes good commercial sense, and is a well used strategy in business.

It can work like that, or it can be used as an asset stripping technique for the personal gain of greedy individuals who want the land and don't care about the club. Blade Too Long is talking rubbish by saying whoever owns the club owns the ground as there have been a number of cases where that wasn't the case.

Rotherham ended up at Don Valley because their former owner still owned Millmoor, York's directors transferred ownership of Bootham Crescent away from the club supposedly to protect it from potential bankruptcy, but then sold the club, retained ownership of the ground, then sold it off to Persimmon for housing and pocketed the cash for themselves. Wrexham's owner tried to turn the Racecourse Ground into a housing estate. There's no reason to suspect that McCabe would ever screw us over like that, but if he were to sell his stake in the football club, he'd have absolutely no obligation to sell Bramall Lane as well.

Bramall Lane is prime Real Estate with high yields on any return of investment . Under previous chairmanship , it was reviewed for housing stock ( as Lavers was across the road ) . Whilst under the remit of the McCabe's , i would have thought The Lane is safe. However within the ground land boundary ( behind the kop end ) ,land is owned by a previous chairman who although a Blade , put business first .

In this instance , i feel we are fortunate to have the McCabe's in charge . Cannot comment on Mr Prince. Mr McCabe , the family , and businesses owned by them ,may get issues wrong now and in the past , all thing United , but ownership of The Lane is not one of them

All true, but if an owner wants to fuck a club up, there's a million ways in which they can do it.

For each example you've given, I'm sure there are ten similar disasters where the club and ground weren't detached, including our porcine neighbours as a case in point.

I hold McCabe responsible for lumbering us in the third division. But that's because of a multitude of horrendous decisions. In the grand scheme of things, putting the ground under the holding company is very low down on my list of concerns.

I think the intentions are to protect the ground should the worst ever happen, or he does eventually sell a major share in the club to the Prince we will always have our home at the Lane. KMc is big on his history including the fact cricket was played. I personally don't think he would ever let the ground be anything other than the home of the club. He could have quite easily bought some brownfield land near meadowhall years ago and stuck a complex with hotels, offices and a ground there. But he hasn't.

£65k isn't much, I pay £5k for an office!

So if a gig or a boxing fight or anything else like this was to be held at our ground, where would the money go from such shows? Would Sheffield United as a football club see any of it?

Yes I would say, they are putting on the event. We pay United for our Season Tickets we don't send Ole Kev a cheque in the post, same if you had a party in The Platinum Suite

again I post sufc is now 50% mccabe and 50% prince so 65 k a year 5500 quid
a month is peppercorn for such a huge site as bramall lane
if you consider the terraced houses on shoreham street would fit 20 times over in the area we cover and they pay 400 a month say so 5 k a year rent for 500 houses be a million a year for housing there and that if its 100 year old properties
And as McCabe is half owner hes sending himself a bill, which will only be for tax purposes.

when you consider our club shop would have to pay 65 k a year in parts of
the city centre in rent its nothing

Finance whizz on BM looking at the latest accounts reckons the rent is now £320k

When looking at our drop in turnover, that is considerable

But isn't that (basically) Kevin McCabe charging that amount (if true) to Kevin McCabe?

I don't know

Isn't the rent paid from the football club transferred out and into the company owned by KM?

If so, in theory I would've thought that becomes lost revenue

The Prince has no stake in SU Ltd only the FC.

The Scarborough Trust ie the McCabe family owns the company that owns the ground. The Prince has a 50% stake in its subsidiary SUFC ltd.

Mr McCabe saved the ground from being sold for Real Estate when a feasibility study was carried out for the blades moving to Don Valley Stadium. The land behind the kop which used to be the training facilities ( now a car park ) is owned by a previous chairman . This has been used as a land locked ransom strip , when plans were muted to extend the kop and include corporate boxes at the back.

I know some knock Mr McCabe and family , but truth be known they saved the club , and beloved BDTBL .
