Let's just draw a line under it and say everyone makes mistakes, but anyone not voting to sack him weeks back must just have a great deal of compassion and the patience of a Saint or be an eternal optimist.

Let's not be that fanbase that has to split.

Some wanted change. Others didn't. Whatever change folk wanted, it wasn't this.

Bin him off and bring the next guy in next week.

Getting rid of Wilder was probably a good idea. Appointing this idiot wasn’t.
Yeah but at least with wilder we wouldn't have had 5 games like this and bot be propping league up.

But do get you if we have got someone like cooper which would never happen that would have been good. But someone who get sacked by hull get the job it a joke

Let's see if this board have any ambitions or common sense and get rid of this utter shit show of a manager after this game, no point giving this man anymore games as he has not got a win in him fact

Wilder wasn't sacked for his failure of promotion last season. Believe it was more down to his antics outside of football.

I know i'd rather be sitting pretty near the top of the table winning ugly than where we are now. It's got to the point now where any manager with any sort of credit is staying well away from us and can you blame them? Why would they come to manage us when our ownership sacked a manager who finished 3rd and had to build a new team off of scraps

Was appointing Selles a good idea, in hindsight probably not but that's hindsight for you.

You can probably sum up his experience with Blades as a step too far too soon for him.

Is he a good manager/coach?

Yes, but as was pointed out by some people on here when he was appointed (and other times since), it's a big step up for him to make from maintaining a L1 promotion push with Reading (with off-pitch problems) and keeping Hull up, to managing a promotion push for the losing playoff finalist.

Was going from keeping Hull up to trying to get us promoted just too much for him to do right now.

It’s like getting divorced, then seeing a new woman and it being worse. It doesn’t make the decision to get divorced a wrong one.

Just because the owners picked an awful manager, it doesn’t mean the decision to sack Wilder was wrong.

I'm yet to see how it was a good idea.

If you want to make that change from a manager who got 92 points and nearly took you up in the playoffs. You have your right man lined up.

We got rid and then deliberated to appoint Selles. Based on what? Scraping safety at Hull and some relatively promising stuff at Reading.
And then because he can "embrace the data"

The main data that counts is of course results. And during games it's how many chances you create and score and how many chances you give the opposition and concede. Because it will even out if you get that metric right.

We have scored one goal and conceded 12 in 5 games. And let's be honest we could have scored maybe 3 or 4 more across those games but we could have conceded at least another 3 or 4 so it's not like we can feel too hard done too.

Any manager with an ounce of self belief would jump at the chance

Got a top 4 team of players, anyone any good can get this side clicking, just not this bellend

I did say “probably”. Wilder got us to third, but we were first at one point and some of the football we played, although winning, was dire. The owners chose to sack Wilder presumably based on this, and chose their own man.

I can see the logic behind their sacking Wilder, but I can’t for the life of me see any logic behind appointing the former manager of Hull City.

I initially could sympathise with Selles and the fact that Southampton, Reading and Hull were in some state of crisis and that he'd been somewhat chucked under the bus at them all.

As it turns out, he's just not up to the job. A career as assistant to the head analyst at Oviedo's B team beckons.
