Expectations v Hopes against Ipswich

The positive now is that in theory we now have options so these players aren't needed in the starting 11.

Would have been good to have seen Ogbene in the team.

I am overly optimistic and think that we will actually see a performance we have been waiting to see. Not sure about the result but at this point, the performance is more important. The results have been bad so far, the performances have been worse. Lets fix that problem first, then we can start building points after that.

Its my second ever away game and I just hope it doesn't turn into chants about Wilder and your getting sacked in the morning....
I’m getting sacked !? - WTF have I done ? ☑

Hope: a new formation, a more solid midfield, a goal and a draw.

Expectation: no visible improvement, a comfortable defeat.

Looking for a different set up and a more competitive performance.

Harsh to demand victory as even if we'd got off to a good start, it's not a game we could demand victory even if we're hoping to.
Ipswich have not won a game either. They are shooting blanks there should be no fear of losing to them two ineffective clubs for a desperate probably both happy for a point.

I hope that we see some new signings, either Matos or Soumare deployed as CDM, Tanganga and Mee or McGuiness at the back. Some more attacking intent and actual threat beside a mate 10 minute flurry.

Expectations, I'm expecting it to be a draw. He's had some time with the new signings, neither team will want to lose as both underachieving. Can see it being a drab 0-0.

Both teams are under pressure to get a result. For them the pressure may even be higher because it's a home game. Neither team can really afford to lose here. That's why I'm expecting a draw which will be unsatisfying for everyone.

I'm not expecting us to defeat Ipswich but I am hoping to see a change in formation, change in personnel and an improved performance regardless of result. There's no more excuses for another piss poor performance with no meaningful attacks. I definitely don't want to see Peck starting or Cannon on the right wing.

Fully agree about Peck and Cannon. Peck is not good enough to be in Sheffield United's first eleven, and wouldn't be even playing at all if Blaster was fit !

Hope: he shows some sort of managerial ability.
Expectation: despite one of the top squads in the league, we look a mess again.

In some respects, if we win handsomely it might mean Ruben isn’t wholly out of his depth. If we lose, we might get a new manager who is up to the job. We can’t lose.

Expectations: don't know why but I expected the match to be tomorrow at 3pm.

We are booked in at Casa Mia Puerta Mogan Gran Canaria for a meal at 6:30 tonight.

Hope: The service is not slow! So I can get back to our apartment by 8pm to watch on my totally legal device.

He’s got an incredibly deep squad now apart from the wide positions biggest thing I’m looking for tonight is Selles demonstrating he can be tactically flexible if plan A isn’t working he has more than enough players and different types of players to change styles and formations as the game dictates. If he continues to show an inability or unwillingness to be flexible in his approach then I’m afraid the writing will be on the wall

You can never legislate on a single one-off result.
A team can play crap and win or play really well and lose.

However surely tonight there MUST be definite signs of improvement to offer some positivity.

The issue for me hasn’t been so much the results, it’s been more about the performances, tactics and structure, even effort and body language from the players.
It can’t be coincidence that we’re struggling to create chances and our defence looks wide open at times, when caught on the break.
All our players look like they’re not sure what to do and they have all played below their normal level from last season.

Also some of the manager decisions have been just plain weird.
We all know Peck is a bit on the slow side and not great at tackling, so why play him on his own as defensive midifielder
And why play Cannon and One out on the wing, when they are both centre forwards.

I’d be satisfied with a 1-1 draw but as I said we need to start showing signs that we’re starting to tick as an organised well coached team.
If we are a bit clueless tonight (regardless of the result) and fail to beat Charlton then surely they’ll be a manager change after the Charlton game.

Expect - a more solid defensive performance
Hope -that we win

To all the "I hope we lose so we sack him" brigade.
If we WIN at Ipswich, away, to the favourites of the division, is RB that shit?
If he picks that same midfield with Hamer and O'Hare in it and we somehow manage to win (stranger things have happened), then I'll be amazed, delighted and disappointed (because he won't get sacked) all at the same time.

If he could just realise what seemingly the entire fanbase knows already, and picks a strong midfield to help Peck out and we could just do the basics, then I'd be happy (happier).

He's got the squad now, he just needs to get a tune out of them.

I expect him to do a full on di’canio impression … coming over to the fans and pushing his chin up …before somebody jumps the barrier and knocks his block off …
