Why would a goalkeeper make any difference to playing four or three at the back ?

I think that this is a great addition to the squad. Would have preferred to keep hold of Ramsdale and built for the future but we all know that we have to claw back some money after relegation and around 25 million is a decent fee towards easing the pressure.
What we are getting is a big strong keeper who is a massive upgrade on what we had after Ramsdale left. The defence should feel confident with him behind them.
Fingers crossed that he can be as successful as the last loan keeper that we had in........

I agree, I think at present that Olsen would be the better keeper. Size wise he's an upgrade on AR and hopefully will be a calming presence at the back.

Hopefully we know start to get some clean sheets and can start to create at the other end!

I hope he smiles a lot too; a confident (almost cocky) outgoing and commanding character will be a very welcome addition to our defence. If Rammers had Henderson's personality traits he'd be a top class goalie.

Yes that's right, he will be in the last year of his contract with Roma next summer so all being well we go up and can buy him at a good price.

Yes I am giving a kneejerk reaction to that howler but on the evidence of what I have seen he is an expensive, marginally improved version of Foderingham. Perhaps a career of playing second choice at big clubs is showing because he looks like an inexperienced 20 year old.

But he doesn’t have any stand out attributes. Just a poor to average goalkeeper. I dread to think how much we’ve paid in wages and a loan fee. That money could have been spent on a proper midfielder.
