Who are your 5 worst Blades managers since 1975?

The dinosaur Kevin Blackwell. At least Robson could attract players.

I didn't include Blackwell in my list, but in terms of entertainment and players available he truly was a dinosaur.
It was a cardinal sin for any of our players to bring the ball under control

It was embarrassing to see Leon Britton in our midfield as everybody else either played head tennis or swung a wild boot at the ball when it was shoulder high rather than using their chest to try to control it

For those of you who include Sirrell on the list, check a few facts out first. He took over the club when they were rock bottom of Div 1. He inherited what was left of an ageing team from the early 70's team. He was forced to sell Currie to pay for the new stand. He was given fuck all to spend on new players. What the fuck was he supposed to do. I truly felt sorry for this guy during his tenure at the Lane, he was hired as a whipping boy, nothing else.

Statistically speaking it's Weir, Adams, Peters, Sirrel and Heath.
Taking into account the available resources and other factors, I would go Robson, Weir, Heath, Adams and Speed.
No way were Clough or Blackwell anywhere near the worst 5 managers IMHO.

Best 5 for me since 1975:- Bassett, Warnock, Wilder, Porterfield, Spackman

Sirrel took over in an impossible situation,no real backing, but brought Edwards,Stainrod,Hamson through, lost Currie & ageing players from early 70's
Haslam had good budget ,for us, but sold Edwards,Stainrod,Hamson & others & replaced them with dross
Peters should have kept us up but....
Porterfield, great at first but fan power got him out
Mcewan similar to Sirrel but different players
Bassett.Top Man
Kendall changed style did ok but should have got us up
Spackman started well but got shafted by the Board
Thompson meh
Bruce too early for him but no support
Heath Disaster
Warnock good times but believed his own hype & cost us ultimately
Robson big budget but total failure
Blackwell good fire fighter but went negative when had chance to kick on
Speed Rip not long enough in the job
Adams Disaster out if his depth
Wilson unlucky first season but went negative the second
Weir out if his depth but got no help
Clough did great in cups but too negative
Adkins awful!!!
Wilder breath of fresh air potentially the best of the lot !!

Hammond contract takes some beating, so until the steam stops coming out of my ears and my brain returns to full logical capacity:
Adkins
Adkins
Adkins
Adkins
Adkins

Starting with the worst first:

Bryan Robson - nothing needs to be said about him does it?

Nigel Adkins - wasted the budget on poor signings so that he couldn't rectify them later in the season.

David Weir - the performances were dire but it wasn't his fault that we sold McDonald in which he built the team around. His remit was to establish our style of play to more of a passing game which was never going to be easy combined with it being his first managerial post, very unfortunate for him.

Micky Adams - looking back I think he joined us at the wrong time, a lot of the performances were not relegation material and involved a lot of bad luck and things generally not going our way, which happens especially when you're fighting at the bottom.

Nigel Clough - enjoyed the Cup runs but unforgivable for what he did in his first full season. He made so many signings only to set us up in the wrong way and never addressed the obvious priorities. So disheartening after a promising start with us giving us false hope.

I think a fair amount of it went on Sharp considering that is the only player he paid a fee for.

IMO, we have not had a decent manager since John Harris - with the possible exception of DB.

I believe that we have about 13 changes of manager since 2000, including caretakers. Some strange appointments.

Yes thats true but I was thinking more along the lines of Hammond's wages if what was reported was true, instead it could have paid 3-4 quality player's wages at this level.

Jimmy Sirrell
Harry Haslam
Billy McEwan
Kevin Blackwell
Bryon Robson
