The only two teams which have taken longer to get promoted out of this tier after getting relegated into it (since 03-04) are Brighton and Rotherham. If we don't go up this year it will be down to just Rotherham, who had a stint in the fourth tier along the way.

One source of concern is that of the 15 teams to have returned,

6 returned after one season
3 returned after two seasons
3 returned after three seasons
1 returned after four seasons
1 returned after five seasons
1 returned after nine seasons

That suggests that the longer you're down here the harder it is to get out.
